I have an interesting story for you.

My husband and I were visiting some very close friends and ours. I was feeling run down and tired, dealing with things around my store (at the time I was the assistant manager at a clothing store). The next day we were to have a visit from one of our Loss Prevention guys and have a large store meeting about LP. Well, my friend was inspired to do a reading for me and I agreed; although normally I wouldn't have, being in that particular state of mind. Well, naturally the reading turned toward work. In the reading, my friend stated that it was time for me to take a break from this job, and that it would be best that I did it too. I kinda scoffed at the notion of leaving, considering I had said that I'd be leaving for 3 years. He also mentioned that after I left, things in my life would get better.

Well, when the next morning arrived, I went into my meetings just like I would normally do. I think I may have thought about his reading once that morning, and just in passing. Later on that day, I was pulled into the office and my District Manager explained to me that I'd received a demotion. According to her, I wasn't ready for the position that I was in. Perhaps one day I would be, but not at the present moment. As politely as I could, I asked her why she hadn't thought of that 4 years ago, when she had first hired me. She didn't have an answer.

After that encounter, I thought of that reading quite a bit. Even though it wasn't something I wanted to hear, nor that I was ready to hear, the reading still stands true. I'm glad he gave me the heads up and still thank him for it.
