It was cold today, colder than it normally was. But that was probably because of the fact that end of season was rolling around. The cold snap was bound to be just that. A snap. It would be over as fast as it had come, but for now Rakurai needed to find some place to settle down for the night. Somewhere that he could get out of the cold, curl up and give his paws a rest. As the humans would say his dogs were barking and he was just over all a very tired kitsune. He had been on the move nonstop for four days and three nights. The only breaks he took from running across the country sides were those to eat, drink or relieve himself. It was too cold. Much too cold to keep running. Now, Rakurai wasn't a superstitious kitsune, but he did consider himself rather lucky. His life had always been easy and things often came to him as if they were naturally fated to come to him. Tonight was no exception. As he looked around with those deep violet eyes, he spotted a cave. It would be warmer than being outside and probably dryer as well. Slowing his run to a walk, he examined the cave from afar and sniffed around. He couldn't smell anything out of the ordinary. And surprisingly in this part of the woods, there weren't very many animal scents. He decided then that he could take a closer look since is nose and his eyes were telling him that nothing had come past this way in a while. Perhaps his luck was much better than he thought it to be, because upon peering into the entrance of the darkened cave, he found it to be deserted. The smell over musk and old animal bones filled his nose, but these smells were old. Much too old. "Looks like no one's home..." Mumbled the kitsune to himself as he stepped over the threshold and into the den.

The air was dry and the cave was a little bit warmer than the outside. Not by much, but just enough to be comfortable. It was better than being out in the wind and rain and sleet. And whatever else this season felt like throwing at him. The aching in his paws kicked up and he groaned as he stretched out. Rakurai pushed aside a large clump of animal bones covering a large patch of greenish yellow moss and settled himself down, paw crossed over paw, with those purple eyes fixed out the mouth of the cave. It really was a mess out there now. He could see the trees shaking from the force of the winds and he was glad that he had gotten out of the snap when he did. It looked like it was getting a little uglier than just a cold snap. It looked like a storm was rising. Taking a deep breath the kitsune sighed and laid his head down over his paws and closed his eyes.

Flying through the air Kurai couldn't believe what was going on now with the weather. "You have to be kidding me!" He snorted out, slightly snarling at the cold winds that was hitting against his wings now. It was getting worse and he needed to go home and the worse part about it was that he was trying to catch something for dinner. Annoyed he headed the direction of his den. The cold making his wings ache as it started sleeting and raining. He needed to go home and fast, he was in danger. His tail was exposed to the sleet and that was never a good thing. Quickly he soared through the sky heading to his home it was taking longer than he wanted and his fire was slowly losing its flame. From a high peak he started falling. "I'm almost there..." He said gaining himself some wind under his wings and flying right towards the hole in the mountain. "There you are." He said, his wings giving out on him practically throwing him into the den. Laying there he breathed in some air slowly with a orange blue light for a flame. "Ha! Made it, you can't have me yet." Kurai huffed feeling defeated not worrying about getting up since it was his house what did he have to worry about? Slowly picking his tail up and down he waited for his flame to regain strength.

It had only been a short while since Rakurai had fallen asleep, but he was already having strange dreams. Strange in the sense that they were of things that he had not dreamed of since he had left home for the first time. The golden kitsune spent most of his time living from day to day, aiming to not think, to not feel, to not remember. But once his eyes closed he really had no control over his own mind anymore. In the realm of his dreams he had been transported to a different place, and a different time. He was young, so very young. He was like the tender green leaves of spring. In a puddle that often pooled inside the back of the den that he called home, he examined his face. His fur was several times more unruly and a much darker shade of gold than it was now. Behind him, his mother groomed one of his sisters while his two brothers rough housed behind him. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in playing, it was more like he was waiting for something. Today was a special day for some reason. Though what that reason was, he had long since forgotten. His ears perked as they picked up a sound and he looked up to follow it. In the entrance of the cave was his father, and in his father's mouth was rabbit. It wasn't the typical prey of the day, but it was more than they had gotten in the last couple of weeks. The dead animal was thrown at his mother's paws, and his father turned away. "Catch ya later, furballs." His father chuckled eerily in his dream world. Rakurai stood quickly. His father had just got here! How could he already be leaving?

That was the last time that his father had ever come around before Rakurai left. Bolting up to his feet, the kitsune yelped loudly. "Father!" Much to his surprise, someone was in the entrance way of the cave. But this male kitsune was not his father. His once soft fur bristled, and the kitsune several steps back. He knew this kitsune at once. The fire that illuminated the cave grew brighter and brighter by the second and black lips pulled back to reveal his sharp teeth. Rakurai growled, more out of fear than out of aggression, a deep rumbling growl from his throat. It had seemed harmless enough a place. Abandoned and pathetic. Those wings were not normal of most Kitsune. And the very demon that he was running from day and night, was now trapping him inside the one place that he had thought to be safe.

Kurai's ears peeled back as he heard someone shout out father. A familiar voice as it was and without thinking about it he was up on all four legs again. Maul pulled back to show his teeth as a faint tail swished back and forth as an irritated cat's would. Coincidence? That seemed to happen too often as he stared down at his ex-partner stood there baring teeth also. "Look what the storm dragged in." Kurai snorted as he now took small paw steps around the yellow Kitsune. "Wasn't my hint enough? Just leaving doesn't stop you does it?" He snorted. "But, like a magnet you seem to keep coming back. Don't you see, you're static baby. I don't seem to ever get you. You're not clear enough for me. I think the smoke from my flames blind me sometimes. But, I never seemed to understand you. Why do I always seem to find you? Why do you always seem to be around?" A small growl was hidden in his throat as he spoke to Rakurai. "But, looks like you're stuck with me for right now till the storm blows over. So stay over there and things won't get messy. You got it?!" He roared as he settled himself at the mouth of the cave seeing as the other Kitsune was no threat to him.

"Are... are you insane?!!" Snarled Rakurai his lips pulling back farther from his teeth. Rage surged through his body as he stood gazing at the form of Kurai. "You didn't leave me, you chicken s**t." His voice was low and menacing, and he contemplated chasing the other kitsune out into the storm to die. After all, that's what would happen should that useless flame at the end of his tail go out. He would die. Or at least Rakurai could hope that was more than a myth. "I left you because you're a cheating piece of filth! A sick, sad little liar." A thick glob of drool leaked from the corner of his mouth as he spoke and his eyes gleamed with rage. "And unless you want me to wipe the cave floors with your carcass, I suggest you keep your mouth shut, or I'll shut it for you... permanently!" A sick feeling settled in his stomach. The storm outside mattered not to him now. He wanted out, and he wanted out badly. The feeling of closeness to this other kitsune, despite the cave being as large as it was, was almost too much to bear and he considered what would happen if he were to dash out now. Just bolt past him. Aside from the rain, and hating the wet with a passion because he made his sharp quills of hair soggy, he was tired. With a glare he lowered himself to a sit, before settling in to wait out the store or wait out Kurai. Whichever came first.

The other male kitsune was talking now and oh boy was he talking about things that Kurai was not wanting to hear. Not because they were true and getting him angry, just because he was tired and this yellow kitsune was driving him up a wall already. One ear to the back of his head as the other was raised up listening to the other fox that was so very angry with him. "Ah-ha.. Ha...HAHAHA!" Amused and unamused the black male stood up now, teeth bared as if he was smiling grimly. "Am I insane? Does an actual insane person actually know the answer to that?" He asked as he wobbled and straightened out his back bristled as he moved up to Rakurai. "Yes, I did do all those things, didn't I?" Kurai now reached the other kitsune's maul. Nose to nose he continued to speak. "But, you knew I was a liar to begin with and you had warnings from other people of my ways and you still fell in love with me. WHY? Why were you stupid enough to do it then? I didn't force you, so get over it!!" The shiny charizard kitsune huffed in his face.

"That's it!" Growled the bright yellow kitsune in a rage. "I've had it with you and your words! I'm so sick of looking at you! GET OUT!" Snarled Rakurai, his sharp teeth snapping at the other kitsune's maul. It was one thing to talk about the past and what happened, but it was entirely another to question his intelligence. "You are so dead! Get out! Getout! Getoutgetoutgetout!!!" Rakurai bolted forward and slammed the full force of his body against Kurai's, trying to push him out of the cave, snarling and snapping his teeth as he went.

Kurai knew how to hit each nerve with the other kitsune and now he really hit one and it was a deep nerve. Slightly amused the dark charizard kitsune pulled his maul back slightly away from being bit as the other kitsine seemed snappy and pissed off. Then there a large thud to his side as the other decided brightly to push him outside that was storming. "You are insane, aren't you!?" He said being pushed out of the cave a bit pulling his tail to the side away from the water that could be his grave. Pushing back his nails digging into the ground underneath him, he didn't get very far but it kept him at the very edge of the mouth of the cave. "You know I cannot, you know I WILL die if you put me out there." He looked at the outside concerned as he pushed his weight at Rakurai.

"Does an actual insane person actually know the answer to that?!!" Roared the smaller kitsune mocking the previous answer that he had been given. He continued to push against the struggling Kurai with all his strength. He didn't care! Rakurai didn't care at all. In fact, the thought of a dead Kurai was a welcome thought. A most inviting thought that was so much warmer than the flame of the cold, blooded snakes tail. It pooled in his stomach and gave him strength to keep pushing the other kitsune whom had planted his nails into the floor of the cave and made it more difficult for him to shove him toward the entrance. Panting, he struggled to get him out the door. "I hope so! I really hope so you son of a b***h! I hate you! I hate you and I'll gladly see you in hell as long as I'm the one who ends it!"

Kurai's tail now touched the outside and quickly retreated underneath his body, going in between his legs. "Yes, I am sure that would be the case!" He shoved a little harder but he flew in that storm and it took a lot out of him and now this. "You'll be the only one I meet in hell Rakurai since you're the only one who gives a damn about me even after our little fall out! You were always the only one! So, annoying as it would be! You will always have me around, alive or dead!" He said now taking a chunk of yellow fur into his mouth and biting down dropping all his weight to the floor, taking the other Kitsune with him to pause both their movements.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 18, 2011 8:41 pm

As the words rushed past Kurai's lips the golden kitsune stood stunned. He has long since stopped pushing, even as he had pushed Kurai out further into the storm. Loudly this golden beast yelped as teeth sunk into his hide and dragged him down. He struggled hard against the other Kitsune as they fell to the floor together, but stopped after some time for the simple fact that he was over heating. "What are you talking about?! You really are insane! Let go. Let go!!" With his free paw he slapped Kurai as hard as he could in his face.

Kurai rolled his eyes. Of course the yellow kitsune wouldn't understand what he was talking about. Was he not saying it clear enough? With a muffled mouth he managed to say words through the fur. "Only if you promise not to kill me..." He wasn't going to let this one go, not unless he was sure he wasn't going to be pushed out into the storm. Even though he is bigger than Rakurai, he was really tired.

Rakurai snarled loudly and attempted to sink his teeth into the other kitsune. "I won't promise anything!" He huffed, trying to break free once more. "You're insane! Let me go. Let me go!" He was angry and very confused. He didn't know what was going on. He didn't understand why it was Kurai would say something like that. Probably because he didn't want to die... Starting to sob dryly, Rakurai attempted to inch away. "Fine! I promise! Just let me go!"

Letting go slowly the kitsune licked the spot he bit on the smaller yellow Kit. "Did I stutter?" He shook his head and snorted a little. "You don't understand? At all?" Rolling his eyes he rested his head on his paws that on the wet hard ground. "You're the only one who cared little man, you're the only one. I don't have any friends, but you already know that due to my attitude I don't make it a habit to keep any. I don't know how you managed to get behind my shield in the first place." He snorted. "So, it is I who doesn't understand you."
