I was just wondering, how many techtor's are out there?
How do you feel about them?
By the way...
Techtor: And actor who also does tech work, often for their own show.
Me? I'm a techtor. I've dopne tech for my own show, and tech for shows I was not in. I think it's a wonderful thing to experience tech work if your an actor. Gives you a greater respect for those who decide to work behind the scene.

yeah, im a techtor but the other way round, im mainly into tech but i act aswell only recently tho since its part of my college course, i enjoy it, its just a bit of fun to me, but i dont seen to get psyched up before a show or nervous like all the actors, its strange, but i do get nervous doing tech sometimes. so yeah,

Yeah... sigh... sweatdrop
But I'm a techie onstage not an actor backstage. But it was only once. It was for this one Kung fu bit and I was a ninja ninja . It was all good until I nearly broke my wrist on the final night.
Me and my techie friends like to brag about being pure blood techies. But now only two of us could say that... sigh... sweatdrop

I was stage manager of a production and the director wanted me to go on stage for a walk on part in the beginning of the play. Well, the first time I did it, I went out on stage, quickly did my small bit because I was scared, and got off stage as fast as i could. I noticed I still had my headset on and said "that must've made an impression." The guys doing the lights said they would've told me but didn't want me cursing on stage. I was about say I wouldn't have cursed, but yeah, I probably would have.
And it made an impression, someone several months after the show mentioned it and I said, rather embarrassed, that I was that techie. We had a good laugh.
but moral is, techies should be techies and actors actors in the same production. It's fine if you're acting in one show and teching in another, which most people did at the theatre I worked at. voluntarily.

technically, I am a tractor((that's what we call actor/techies at my school)), if you count my 15-20 shows before HS. if you don't, then I'm a pure techie

not really sure. it just sounds alot better than tactor. but I tend to think of myself as more of a pure techie. but I will have to ask katie about that first R...

I teched my first show this year after not getting in as an actor. It was a great experience to be working backstage and such, but the fact was in the end that the majourity of the time, I really didn't want to be there. Even though I was there (unlike the 6 or so actors who quite the show when they didn't end up with the parts they wanted...grrr....), I felt like it wasn't really fair to the team, because I really didn't have heart in it. I tried.

I started tech in fourth grade. Then fifth grade the director wouldn't let me be a tech and cast me as Glinda, we were doing The Wiz. I hated it so much. >> I now work for that director and he knows I hate going on stage.
But I designed every flat for the fourth grade musical. ^^ There were only two of them though.....
Middle School I was the only one who knew how to run the light and sound board so naturally I ran them.
Last play I did in middle school I was the Stage Manager. The director forced me to be the stage manager for the play and IN in the play. I can't remember lines to save my life. I was about to yell at him for him to get on the ******** stage and say the lines himself. Instead I ditched the show the last twenty minutes on the final night to go see the new Pirates of the Carribbean. I was happy.
Now I'm a freshman this year and I'm gonna join the tech team. I already know quite a few of the people on the team so I'll be good.
I've done too many shows over summer though.
The Hobbit, Cabaret, Urinetown and now Oliver. Four shows in three months is a bit much. >>
