● ● ● ● тнιs ιs тнє sтσяy☀ // ☁ // ☂ - - - τнє ρєяғєcт sυммєя . . .That's what it was supposed to be. Just the four of them; the [writer], the [dancer], the [jock] and the [genius]. The [writer]'s aunt owned a large cottage by the ocean down in Virginia, not too far from the small town of Greencove. An entire summer of no parents, just the four of them, before college started and they all went their separate ways. The four had all been friends since kindergarten; had gone to the same elementary school, suffered through the same middle school, and graduated from the same high school. College would be the first time in their entire lives they wouldn't be with their friends. So they're spending as much of it as they can partying, swimming, fishing, tubing, building sandcastles and having bonfires, and collecting shells like children. It was all planned out, and they were all packed and just about to head out when the [writer] called all of them and told them the news. ☀ // ☁ // ☂ - - - τнє sυммєя τяєατмєnτ . . .That's what the doctors called it. But the four teens who were finally getting out of the permanent ward at the hospital called it 'Perfect'. The [victim], the [accident], the [condemned], and the [traumatized] all had injuries that showed no signs of clearing up, despite the many years they had each spent at St. Gregory's hospital. Between them, they probably had enough years of treatment to make up an entire person's life. They were the eldest in the ward, since St. Greg's is, first and foremost, a children's hospital. One of the nurses managed to set up a kind of vacation--labeled a change of scenery, more physical therapy--for the four, for the entire summer. At her cottage, not even two hours car ride away, by the ocean, they could get used to the idea of caring for themselves again, even with doctors and nurses capable of handling an emergency or crisis close by. They could act like normal teenagers again, even though the other kids there age were all preparing for college; a distant, impossible goal for the four. They were all excited, more energetic than they had been since landing in the permanent ward, when the nurse finally told them the catch. ☀ // ☁ // ☂ - - - τнє нσяяιвℓє nєωs . . .It crushed the plans of all eight teens. For the vacationers, it was just a bunch of stupid sick people, cluttering up their space and getting in their way. For the PW kids, it was a group of outsiders ruining the semblance of normal they had planned to establish. How can you have the time of your life, your last summer with your friends, if you have to worry about helpless teens who couldn't see and were in wheelchairs? How could you figure out what normal life was like if there were outsiders constantly showing you that you're a freak? None of them expected to like the other group, not even a little, and were all prepared to face the worse. The summer is now officially ruined, and there won't be a speck of fun to be had. But, dutifully, the kids from Saint Greg's boarded the old school bus commissioned for their trip, with their bags and medical equipment, and began the journey. The vacationers did the same, packing all of their belongings into the [jock]'s flat-bed truck and piling in uncomfortably. What happens when both cars (of sorts) arrive is unpredictable, though it's bound to be awful. Isn't it?

She's been writing since she was a kid. If there was ever a time when she wasn't scribbling in a notebook, no one can remember it. She keeps a journal, now, and writes everything in it. A couple of her friends have, jokingly, tried to get her to tell them what's in it or to read it, and the outcomes have not been pleasant. She's the only one of the four who doesn't have a scholarship for college, since her family is well-off enough to send her to one without getting help for the tuition. She's looking forward to college, anyway. ( taken--leopardstreak )

Dance is this girl's life. She's got a college scholarship because of it, so she has to maintain her immense talent and skill. Or she's screwed. Beautiful and graceful, everyone adores her; the darling of her friends. Though she may be the picture in the dictionary under 'princess', she can stand up for herself. She's no damsel in distress, no matter what happens. This is her last true summer vacation before she has to buckle down for college, which she isn't necessarily dreading; she really is looking forward to learning, and to training, and one day dreams of being a famous dancer. She might just do it. ( taken--lovelymarrionette )

On the field and on the court, is there any sport this boy can't handle? He excels at anything involving running, throwing, dribbling or shooting. Frankly, his friends find it slightly intimidating. He may be super, extremely competitive with a ball in his hands or at his feet, but that disappears once he reaches his friends, and a playful, loud, teasing nature comes out into the light. He's the life of every party, and knows it. It's his basketball skills that won him his scholarship, and he knows that, should anything happen, he will be forced to go to (horror of horrors) community college. His family is very uptight about his training and work, because of this, and he throws his all into sports. ( reserved )

This kid is disturbingly, grotesquely, obscenely and impossibly smart. That's all there is to it. He's gotten a ton of grief over it, though, so he tends to underplay his intelligence as much as humanly possibly. However, his test scores are insane, and won him a full-ride scholarship to the most distinguished school in the country. He knows everything, or so his friends believe with righteous awe. He's the youngest of the group, since he skipped a few grades, but could pass for a Junior. If you try really hard. While he doesn't know what he wants to do with his life yet, he knows that it will be something important and prestigious; the Albert Einstein of the twenty-first century, perhaps. He's destined for great things. ( open )

She uses a wheelchair to move now, and it's a good thing he had a great deal of upper body strength before the attack, since she needs it to roll himself around everywhere. She's been in St. Greg's permanent ward for going on six years now, and knows most of the nurses and doctors by their first names, by their families, by their friends. They say that the damage should be only temporary, and it's true; she's made progress since that first day in the PW. But only a little. It may take years for her legs to completely work, if she is able to use them at all. ( taken--memories in the mist )
. . . τнє αccι∂єит - - - ❣ // ❀ // ☨ He was the only survivor of a three-way car accident that left his completely blind. It's been only two years since that, and his 'temporary' blindness has undergone little change. It shows no signs of clearing up, and may never. However, since he's been in St. Greg's for such a little while, he still clings to hope that his disability may one day disappear, yet. He keeps to himself, and doesn't know very many of the people in the permanent ward, but did make a connection with the nurse whose house they will be staying at. The two would often just sit and chat, and he learned that blindness is one of the "easiest" disabilities to live with. ( taken--xx_bloodspill_wolf_xx )
. . . τнє cσи∂ємиє∂ - - - ✦ // ▲ // ❂ She's a victim of cancer, and has lived practically her entire life in the ward at St. Greg's, for a grand total of fourteen years. She was diagnosed as a child, and has been undergoing treatment since then, both proven and in the testing stage, and, while some of it has been effective, most of the treatments, predictably, failed. However, she is the most upbeat kid in the ward; hyper-active and bouncy and loud, she manages to cheer everyone up, most of the time. She spends a great deal of time with the younger patients, particularly those with cancer, like herself, and knows a few of the nurses. She's the princess, the darling of St. Greg's, and of everyone inside. ( reserved )
. . . τнє тяαυмαтιzє∂ - - - ✥ // ☣ // ✪ No one quite knows what's wrong with him; obviously, he's traumatized beyond belief, but why? He hasn't spoken since landing in the ward, and his Uncle, the one paying for his treatment, won't say a word. He experiences muscle spasms and hyperventilation, besides having extreme asthma to begin with. Some of the nurses suspect it's all in his head, and he's either making a nuisance of himself or to scared to remember. He really liked the nurse whose house they are borrowing, and she predicted that she might manage to make him talk again soon. He's the newest one at St. Greg's, the odd one out, only a resident of the PW for eight months or so, and has been steadily improving since his arrival. ( open )

Don't try and change who I am inside ♫ Quiet ♫ Awkward ♫ Shy ♫ Dark ♫ Mysterious ♫ Curious ♫ Sarcastic Story of My Life William was born to a poet and a musician in Las Vegas. He grew up creative and outgoing- just like any other young and carefree boy. He got his lisence when he turned sixteen and immediatly started to drive. He loved it! The thrill was amaazing! As soon as he got his own car, Will started to drag race and street race. Anything to see the bright lights rush past you. He had a bet one night that he could beat the best street racer in the state of Cali. That night, when he was racing across a four-way intersection, he accidentally drove through a red light. Ironically, another street racer was coming his direction and passed the light, too. William was hit from all three sides- front, right and left. He lost his sight when the fender of the other street racer's Mustang bursted through his windshield and hit him right in the eyes and forehead. His whole body was bleeding from impact and glass damage.
No one called the ambulance until six in the morning, seven hours after the incident happened. By that time, all three drivers form the other cars had died and William had fainted from pain and bloodloss. He was rushed to the E.R., where the doctors were able to do nothing for him. They patched up his wounds and removed the glass, but his sight had been damaged beyond repair. William never saw anything again. They kept telling him that it would clear up one day, that he would be able to see again one day, but he knew it wasn't true. He was moved to the institution after a few months of recovering in the hospital. He tried to escape several times but never made it past the nurses' station. Sadly, the blind boy is stationed on the tippity-top floor, meaning he has to have someone help him down the every meal and activity. It took the insitution about a year, by the time he was seventeen, to finally get an elevator that blind people could use! In that time, he'd been learning all the objects and routes of passage in his small 'home.' So, now that he's nineteen, William is looking forward to getting out of this 'Godforsaken hell-house,' as he refers to it. He's looking forward to listening to music and poetry on his iPod and laying in the shallow water of the beach to calm his frayed nerves- that is, until he figured that normal people would be there. Don't try and change who I am inside ~ Outgoing ~ Flirtatious ~ Funny ~ Rebellious ~ Curious ~ Bright ~ Random ~ Bubbly ~ Energetic ~ Eccentric ~ Different Story of My Life Well, I've lived out here with my best buds my entire life! We've been through everything together. Whether it was heart breaks, hook ups, or just straight up drama. I know my friends have my back and I have theirs. But my interest in dancing was what made me stand out from them. It started when I was little, young and innocent. I started off with ballet because I thought it was beautiful back then. Those skills stuck with me throughout the years, but I became interested in different types of dances. I know a little bit of hip hop dancing but I just like to freestyle. I like to do whatever I want to do. I've danced for years now and I used to perform in talent shows. Or maybe I'd join a school play just so I could dance. But ballet will probably always be my favorite type of dance no matter what I learn. I mean, dancing is making art using your body and a kickin' beat! What's not to love about it? My family has always supported my dancing and they even helped me figure out what college I wanted to go to. I used to dread thinking about college just because I knew I would have to leave my friends behind. But I know they support my decision completely. So now I have to work on my goal to becoming the best dancer ever!
I have two little sisters and an older brother. My older brother is the one I'm closest too, but he moved out forever ago. My father, well he was never around so I helped my mom take care of my two sisters. One of them is actually trying to follow in my footsteps. She's practicing ballet. My other little sister is more interested in art. But I love them both to death. However, I've seen some of my family members who used to have the same dream as me. Some of them just gave up hope, but my aunt was paralyzed. She got into a real horrible accident when she was little and she was just beginning to be a great dancer. She had to give up her dream and because of her, I learned to be a little cautious. I can't stand even thinking about being paralyzed! So I try my best to not get hurt too much and try not to break any bones. Though I've had a few sprains here and there. Like they say, you have to overcome the pain and the fear if you ever want to go places. And I'm so going places. So this summer, I'm going to work on my dancing and just have fun with my friends. Even though apparently it won't be just me and my friends hanging out this summer. Don't try and change who I am inside Tomboy, all the way! ~ Independent ~ Kind hearted ~ Patient ~ Fun ~ Blonde at times ~ Charming ~ Somewhat private ~ Relaxed ~ Definitely different ~ Story of My Life Alex has grown up in a well off family. They had plenty of money, but never splurged needlessly. Alex was one who sometimes kept to herself, especially before she found friends. She was always a shy one, and never was really sociable. She loved being outside and playing with all animals, and loved bringing her beloved notebook with her and sit underneath a tree, and just write. Write about anything that came to her mind. She'd write about her surroundings, and would make a blade of grass seem like a regal castle. She would make the most boring scenario come alive and become enchanting. Alex really had a talent with a pencil, that girl. She loved to write more than anything. She would spend hours on her laptop, typing up her latest mini novel. Her inspiration comes from the books she reads. Her favorite genre is crime fiction and fantasy. She adores books with knights and magic, and also ones with mutilated bodies and murderers! Fun, right? Alex could either be found writing or reading, always, without fail. She has a notebook that she keeps all her writings in. It's tattered, it's ripped, it's falling apart. But it's Alex's most prized possesion. Her parents get her new notebooks every year, but she's using this one till the end. When that one's done, she'l get one exactly the same and write in that till it dies. Alex is persistent like that.
Alex was writing in her notebook one day at a park when some girl came up to her. More like danced up to her, really. The girl started asking about Alex and her writings, and the brunette was on her guard constantly. But soon, she relaxed and let some of herself soften up. She soon became good friends with the dancing girl, and then she introduced her to her friends. Alex became good friends with a genius, a sporty jock, and the dancer. The quartet was really a sight to be seen; but they fit. Alex has learned to trust the other three with her life, and is very excited about college and their vacation! It sounds amazing to her. She will finally be able to let her hair down and let loose. Alex has always been a little bit tense, but she's been able to relax, a lot. Her life really wasn't all that bad, looking back. She's found that it's not the things you have, not people's opinions, but it's who you are. Alex enjoys being with her friends and likes her life, but it's starting to be turned upside down. Alex's mother was found to be smuggling jewels into the country, under her father's nose. Alex and her father knew nothing of it, but charges weren't pressed, thankfully. Her mother was free to go, but Alex's father was enraged. Alex tried to calm the waters between her parents, but it seems divorce is inevitable. Alex is thankful to get away for a bit, hopefully let her parents cool down and be fine when she comes back. But sometimes that just seems to be a farfetched dream. No matter what stirs the girl's heart, there's always that ray of hope: the ray that's kept her going for so long as a writer. Don't try and change who I am inside Tomboy < Independent < Self-reliant< Strong-willed < Strong in mind and body < Tough < Hard-working < Kind < Caring < Smart < Speaks her mind < Stubborn < Determined < Story of My Life Nikki was born nineteen years ago on a large ranch. Her parents were horse trainers and champion riders. Her father rode Western while her mother rode English. They bred, trained, and rehabilitated horses. Nikki was put on a pony before she had even taken her first steps. She basically grew up with horses. Her first pony was a bay gelding named Peppermint. Nikki started to compete with him when she was five and did very well. She also helped her parents train and rehabilitate horses from a young age. She loved living on the ranch, even though it was a lot of work. She has had many broken bones, dislocated shoulders, and bruises from working with the horses. One horse put her in a coma for a whole week from a kick in the head. Though it didn't stop Nikki from working with horses. She dealt with the pain because she knew the end result was worth it. Nikki became very skilled working with horses and also did very good a shows. Her parents taught her to ride both English and Western. So Nikki completed in show jumping, hunter, dressage, cross-country, and many western events with her horses.
When she was twelve, Nikki found a starved horse abandoned in a field. She took it home and started to care for it. As the horse's strength came back, it was clear he had never been touched by a human before. He kicked, and bit, and tore through about two dozen halters in a week. Nikki let the blue roan stallion heal before beginning to work with him. The stallion was very strong, stubborn and violent, but Nikki had learned not to be afraid after years of training. She named the stallion Call of the Blue Moon, Moon for short. Moon inflicted serious injuries to Nikki. One day he went completely crazy, pulled Nikki to the ground, and kicked her in the head. Luckily, she had been wearing a helmet but the blow still caused a lot of damage. She was rushed to the hospital and went straight into surgery to stitch up the gash. The teen was in a coma for an entire week before she finally woke up. Her parents wanted to put Moon down but Nikki refused. She didn't want to give up on the stallion because she saw potential in the blue roan stallion. Her parents had no choice but to agree and, as soon as she was out of the hospital, she was back with Moon. She still has the helmet, which has a large dent where Moon kicked it, as a reminder of what happened and of where Moon and her started. It took another six months, but Nikki finally had a break through. Moon finally let her touch him, enter his stall without attacking, and she was able to lead him around. It didn't take long after that for her to get on his back. It was hard at first, Moon bucked, reared, and slammed himself into the fence, but Nikki refused to give up. The stallion inflicted several more injuries to the twelve year old before Nikki was able to ride him safely. Once she was able to ride him, everything just clicked. The two were a perfect match. Moon kept his stubborn nature but Nikki met him the whole way. Nikki loved Moon and Moon loved her back. They had an unbreakable bond and no one else could handle Moon other then Nikki.
When any people meet Nikki, and hear about her past, they think it was a riding accident that put her in the wheelchair. Though, that isn't it at all. When Nikki was thirteen, she was attacked one day when she was home alone by a group of men. Nikki had just finished up riding Moon and was heading to the foal barn to check on the new foals when she was grabbed and pinned against the wall. She didn't recognize the men and was scared as the began to punch her and kick her. Nikki tried to fight back, but it was her against about three or four men so she didn't have a good chance. Her parents were out of town for the day, looking at a stallion for one of their mares, and their closest neighbor was almost a mile away. So Nikki had no one to help her. She screamed at the top of her lungs as the men continued to brutally attack her. Everything on her body hurt and that was what she remembered the most, the pain. They must have had a knife or something sharp because she soon felt them stabbing her. Although, they never hit any vital points. Near the end of the attack, the men tried to strangle her but Nikki was able to slip from her grasps and tried to run. Though the men were too fast and quickly caught the wounded teen again, holding her back. The one man that wasn't holding her back, drew a gun and pointed it at her. Three shots fired, one hitting her in shoulder, another hitting her lower spine, and the last hitting her right leg. Nikki felt immense pain and felt her legs tremble. She would have fallen if the men hadn't yanked her up, forcing her to stand. She probably would have been killed, especially when the man raised the gun again and aimed for her chest. Although, Nikki had an guardian angel watching her. A loud noise sounded from the stallion barn and Moon lunged for the man with the gun. The stallion rammed into the man's side, knocking the gun from his hand just as the shot fired. Nikki was hit, but instead of her chest the bullet hit her left shoulder. The other men threw her to the ground and raced off. As she hit the ground, everything started to blur. She had a numb feeling in her legs and everything felt like it was burning. She doens't remember the man with the gun ever moving and presumed that Moon had killed him. The stallion stayed with Nikki as she drifted in and out of darkness, watching over Nikki carefully. He cried for help but no one ever heard. Nikki had left her phone next to Moon's stall and couldn't get to it. So, the two stayed there for what seemed like forever until her parents came home a few hours later. Nikki had been able to use Moon's blanket to put pressure on her larger wounds so she wouldn't die from blood loss. She was a fighter, and the doctors said that was what kept her alive.
When her parents got home, they quickly found their little girl close to death. But that time, Nikki had no feeling below her waist and was slowing losing her grip on life. An ambulance was there in no time and she was rushed to the hospital. The doctors put her into surgery right away to remove the bullets and stitch her up. It was a long surgery because she had many wounds, internal and external, that all had to be treated. The doctors were able to remove all four bullets but saw that the one in her lower back had done great damage. They tried to heal the damage as best as they could but they weren't able to fully here it. Nikki had many wounds from the attack, broken bones, bruises, cuts, gashes, a concussion, and she was paralyzed from the waist down. Nikki woke up a day after getting out of surgery. She had many casts and bandages on her body but what shocked her the most was that she couldn't feel her legs. She first thought that they had been amputated but, when she reached her hand under the covers, she found her legs still there and fully intact. The doctor came in a few minutes later and explained what happened. At first, Nikki didn't believe it but she knew there was no escaping it. She was paralyzed. She spent a few weeks in the hospital, feting used to using a wheelchair and doing things without being able to use her legs. The hospital was nice enough to give her an old service dog named Brandy to help her get around and keep her company. Luckily for Nikki, she had great upper body strength and was able to wheel herself around without a problem. Though Brandy was still helpful with certain things. After a few weeks, Nikki as ready to go home but onyl found out that she wasn't going home. She was to be moved to the permanent ward and live there. At first Nikki refused but she had no choice. the paperwork was signed and she was now in the hospital's custody.
So that's where she has been for the past six years. At first, all she had was Brandy but she soon became friends with some of the other kids, especially a girl with cancer, and the nurses and doctors. Everyone learned form the start that Nikki was a fighter. Even on her first day she was determined to do things on her own with only Brandy to help her. She made good progress and did as she was told, sometimes. After further tests, the doctors said that it was very likely that her being paralyzed was just temporary and would go away. Nikki was thrilled but it has now been five years since she took that test and she has made only a little progress. She fears that she'll never be able to walk again. Earlier this year, Brandy retired form service dog training and Nikki was given a new dog to work with. The hospital saw how much Brandy had helped her so they gave her a one year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Becks. The two have alreayd formed a great bond together. The teen still has scars from the attack, especially from where the bullets hit her. Nikki was excited to get out of the hospital with Becks and the some other teens for the summer. That was until she found out that normal kids were going to be here. Hopefully they wouldn't baby her, otherwise there would be a problem. Since the one thing Nikki hates even more then being paralyzed, is being babied and treated like she can't do things on her own. Hopefully these teens would understand that. Don't try and change who I am inside Sweet Cheerful Optimistic Kind Caring Gentle Bubbly Determined ((just another word for stubborn)) Story of My Life Kimber was born about fourteen years back. She grew up in the country surrounded by her family and her animals. Kimber's family wasn't rich, but they weren't exactly poor either. They had enough. She has always been a ray of sunshine and a light to everyone she meets. She has a knack for cheering people up. She says sometimes. If the people around you aren't happy. Then it's not worth being happy until they are smiling. Kimber says that she's determined, but everyone else says that it's just another word for being stubborn.
Kimber has practically been at the ward her whole life. It's like her home now, she doesn't mind, not really anyway. She makes the best of it. Kimber meets the new people and helps them be happy. Most of the treatments, however failed. But that doesn't stop her from being hyper, active, bouncy and loud. She loves to cheer everyone up and is the most up-beat kid there.
