PLOT:
Cara Seldon lived a relatively normal life. Sure, all those planets appearing in the sky a few months back had shaken her up pretty badly, and the following alien invasion had sent her running to the basement to hide. Overall, though, it wasn’t a very remarkable existence. All that changed one night at the restaurant where she was waiting tables. Cara finds herself caught in the middle of a Cyberman attack. She probably would have been killed if it hadn’t been for a tall Englishman calling himself the Doctor, who not only saves Cara but also stops the group of Cybermen. They part ways and that would have been the end of it, but more Cybermen surface a day or two later. They are hunting down Cara, mistakenly believing that she is the Doctor’s companion and will lead them to him. When the Doctor reappears, he takes Cara back to the TARDIS to keep her safe. There is a major falling out between Cara and the Doctor when he finds out she’s carrying a handgun, but they’re forced to work together as the Doctor tries to find out who’s responsible for the Cybermen returning. Eventually, they face the two Time Lords behind the attacks - the Master and Celeste.

CHARACTER PROFILE:

Name: Cara Seldon

Age: 21

Height: 5 foot 4 inches

Physical appearance: Long brown hair, brown eyes, a little on the heavy side. Wears T-shirts and jeans most of the time. Is nearsighted and wears glasses.

Occupation: Part-time student in community college and waitress/kitchen help in a restaurant

Personality: Rather shy and reluctant to get involved in anything, but unstoppable once she makes up her mind. Keeps her nose out of other people’s business and expects others to do the same. Can act reserved to the point of rudeness. Despite her withdrawn personality, Cara shows a few very assertive traits – for example, she has a concealed carry permit and brings her .38 Special revolver wherever she can. She is growing increasingly frustrated with the dead end her life is at.

History/Background: Cara grew up in a typical American suburban home. She is currently renting an inexpensive downtown apartment with a fellow student, Sarah Blakely, because she can’t afford to live on her own. Her job in a restaurant just covers her living costs, and she’s always on the verge of bankruptcy. Cara feels like she’s stuck in a rut and wants to get out, but doesn’t know how. Her interests and hobbies – if she has any spare time – include studying the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars, working with graphics manipulation on her computer, and cooking. A very narrow escape from a very bad situation while walking home after work one night convinced Cara that she needed to learn some self-defense. A pistol was the option she felt would be most effective, but she worries that she wouldn't be able to use it properly if the situation came up.
