So a few people know I'm bi. I'm not ashamed, it's just that I hear the way members of my family discriminate on bisexuals and it kinda scares me. My friends are the first people I told because I couldn't hide the truth from my best friends. My mom found out when she walked in on my friend trying to kiss me. My mom's side of the family took it well, it's my dad I'm scared of. His side hates everything about me. My taste in music, my looks, my likes, everything. I wanted to know if anyone had any tips on how to come out to my dad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Ashlee,
I was insanely afraid to come out to my parents, as well. I told friends and it was no problem, but we always take it hard if there's even a chance that our parents will hate us. My advice is: don't come out until you are ready to come out. Don't do it because circumstances seem to make it the thing that must be done. When it is the right time, you'll know.
I suggest talking to your dad about it with someone who already knows about you present, such as your mother or a friend, or both! Having someone will make it easier.
I took the band-aid approach. I just did it, once I felt it was right. I didn't have any friends present, either. Just try to be positive, but not too much. We always hope for the best, but things can turn sour. Just do it on your terms. I hope I helped! heart

Ask yoursef this, does he need to know? If it's going to cause even more issues for you then don't, wait intill your not in any way governed by them and your independent. And at the end of the day your family doen't need to know who your sleeping with (or whatever). As FragileHeart19 only tell them if you feel 100 per cent comfrtable and ready, never let yourself feel rushed into it. As long as your happy yourself then thats all that matters!

Ashlee, you could try easing him into it. Or you could try having your mom tell him, not the best idea but hey it might work. I wish I had more to offer, but because my parents are devoriced I never see my dad so I don't how to talk to one.
