This is where all royals reside. It is the biggest building in Pasaid, and is home to the King and Queen and their prince/princess, the king and queen's advisors, their assistants, and any employees working at the castle. Pasaid's military also resides around the castle. It's a home, a place of business, and a place of festivities. Many balls and dances are held, along with jousting contests and fencing matches. Overall the place is gorgeous. White walls tower high into the sky; as if they could touch the clouds. The rooftops are a royal blue color. There are numerous gardens and recreational areas to entertain yourself in. You won't be bored if you visit here.

The cheering of solders, numbers of currency being shouted on petty bets... When Dirk was put in charge of a weekly inspection routine, he made sure he got them working, one by one. They dragged the unconscious soldier from the pit. "Alright who's the next best guy! Come on, he tired me out, really!" Two more soldiers walked into the pit, with large grins on their faces. "Oh I see, it is only honorable to be truly tested when only set to par," he sarcastically toned, "in a wagered match!" Dirk raised his fists in a non royal manner, and the two charged instantaneously, one going in a typical leg sweep motion and the other a barbaric close line. Dirk dived in between the two attacks, and as he stood up from his roll the first soldier had already spun out of his leg sweep. A single barely motioned counter with Dirk slapping the soldiers fist sent the momentum of his punch into the air beside Dirk's head. Then as the soldier fell into Dirk, he punched him in the solarplex, knocking the wind out of him. He fell to the ground gasping for air. Afterwards Dirk immediately circled around waiting for the second soldier to initiate an attack. He seemed to be defensive so Dirk changed his tactics; quickly walking up to him diagonally, the soldier threw a punch faster than expected. Dirk barely blocked it, then had to immediately block 5 more in 3 seconds. Dirk was set off balance and stumbled backward, he suddenly noticed the soldier was jumping towards him planning to plant his foot on Dirks chest. Dirk let him, but intentionally fell onto his back quicker. The crowd "oooh'ed". The soldier jumped, rolled forwards, and turned towards Dirk with his right leg bent. Dirk had twisted it enough to injure him. He quickly stood up from impacting the ground then faced the soldier. Unexpectedly, the soldier charged Dirk this time, and Dirk once again blocked 5 attacks, then another 4. they were of the same style, so Dirk countered the last punch and grasped his wrist, then twisted it in such a way that it would break his arm. The soldier flipped with it and palm-struck Dirk in the jaw. Again the crowd "oooh'ed." Dirk grinned, and then cracked his neck. "You're good, man." Dirk didn't assume a fighting position and instead stood comfortably. The soldier rushed into the chance to strike Dirk down, but to his surprise, missed somehow. Next thing he knew the blunt force of a boot hit him in the armpit as he was leaning over with his left arm stretched out for a punch.
He was able to realize what Dirk had done and dodged the next attack, "Quick for a swordsmen." He stated. The next sequence of attacks Dirk performed the soldier blocked very well, but it was meant to be blocked to knock him off balance. Once Dirk forced his hurt foot in to apply pressure, the soldier messed up in the flurry of punches and Dirk was able to give him a finishing blow to the shoulder, throwing his weight into his hurt foot and knocking him down. "General Phoenix!" The men around the fight pit saluted instantly whilst forming an organized line. Dirk stood idle in the ring, "Yes General?" He replied in annoyance. "You do understand the task submitted to you? " Dirk walked to the edge of the ring and leaned against the wooden fence, "I do, and this is getting to know the men. I've been gone for awhile and I wanted to see how you fared in training martial arts without me." The General marched towards the wooden fence, "They fare well Phoenix, they do not need to be trained. They need to be evaluated." Dirk looked around at the men, and stood up straight, as a General should. "Soldiers! Are you combat ready for annihilating any minor or major threat to anything in our beautiful land of Pasaid!?" "YES SIR!" They yelled in unison. "What are we ready to annihilate for!?" "OUR BEAUTIFUL LAND SIR!" "What is our land!?" "BEAUITFUL SIR!" "What is our land!?" "BEAUITFUL SIR!" "What is your general!?" "BEAUITFUL SIR!" "Damn right he is." A few men hidden in the groups laughed as the others held an impossible to hide grin. "See maybe your around them too much, they'll most likely see you as their mother if you keep it up General." Dirk leaned against the fence with his foot up, "Soldiers! Full gear. We hit the mud trails today!" The soldiers said not a word and headed to the barracks, undoubtedly angered. "They learn through example, not through broken limbs Phoenix. Khale! Get up and make your way to medical, mud trails when able one week." As the general left Dirk walked over to Khale, and held his hand out. "I'll shoulder you to medical." He offered. "I'll take my self, with all due respect General Phoenix." Dirk still held his hand out, "It's Dirk, and this is an order, I have to get myself over to the mud trails to run with the other boys."

Shoshanna LorannexxxxThe Crowned Jewel of PasaidWe Live For Our p e o p l exxxx. . . But When Do We Live For o u r s e l v e s ?Currently in Athraigh: Abreine Castle A young, beautiful girl stood on the highest balcony in the castle, accessed only through a tiresome winding staircase. She never minded the climb, though. It was an escape. No one ever bothered coming up here, so the girl took it upon herself to occupy the open space every now and then. A light breeze flowed through her silky blonde locks, the sun adding a twinkle in her blue eyes. Princess Shoshanna adjusted the circlet gracing her head, then rested her hands on the banister, peering over the edge. She'd always wondered how high up she was when at her balcony. The residents and employees of the castle looked smaller than ants, she had to be pretty far up. She began to hum a small tune, a lullaby her father would sing for her every now and then, then saw the commotion over at the pigpens. Shoshanna watched as General Dirk knocked the two men down in a matter of minutes. Of course, she couldn't see who hit who or who was even participating in the fight from where she was, but she decided not to do anything about it. They'll run out of steam eventually. Sighing, she turned her face to the sky, gazing at the cloudless landscape. I'm sure father and mother are wondering where I am right now... Shoshanna thought. She reluctantly decided to leave, beginning her journey down the stairs.
"Hello mother, father." Shoshanna smiled as she entered the dining hall. The smell of roasted turkey and honey-glazed ham filled the room, and she frowned, realizing she hadn't eaten that day. "Do you mind if I join you?" "Not at all, sweets. Go ahead, take a seat and take a turkey leg if you want!" Her father exclaimed as he bit into a piece of chicken breast. "Thank you." Sho nodded and politely sat down. Immediately a cook rushed over to her with her plate, ready to get the food for her. "That's okay, I can get it myself. Thank you, though." "Yes Princess." He bowed and went on his way. "Goodness. I can get my own food." Shoshanna muttered, gently picking up a fork and knife and taking a slice from the ham. "They're only trying to help, dear." Her mother chimed in. Shoshanna sighed. "Yes, I know. Father, mother, would you mind if I go into town a little later today?" "Take a guard with you." Her mother stated simply. "Now I don't think that's really necessary, dear..." The King chimed in. "She is a princess and is very vulnerable, she cannot-" "I am not vulnerable, mother. I can take perfect care of myself." Shoshanna attempted to reassure her. "Nonsense. You are young. You are a Princess. There are people out there that want your head on a pike, you-" "Do you really want to scare her?" Her father raised his voice at his wife a little. "You're being ridiculous." "I'm being cautious. Please, Sho darling, take a guard with you. You could take that strapping young general if you so desired." Not wanting to cause any more arguments, she complied. "Yes, mother... I'm not very hungry anymore. I shall leave for town right now, then." "Have fun, dear." "Thank you. I shall be back well before nightfall." She escorted herself out of the room, heading up another winding staircase a few halls to the right, and met with a wooden door. Shoshanna let it swing open, and entered her chambers, which was secluded in its own tall tower, just the way she liked it. She wasn't going to stay for long, though; she was just here to pick up her cloak and go. Take a guard with me... No way. Sho was around enough guards already, she didn't need anyone holding her hand through her own city. She slipped into a less regal dress, a simple brown one with white-capped sleeves, then put the same-colored brown cloak over her shoulders, securing it with a tie. Gently, Shoshanna removed the circlet from her head and put it in a box under her bed. It was best not to simply leave it out, if her parents entered the room they'd know she left it there. Once again, she went down the staircase, this time making two lefts and a right, to a small trapdoor: the secret entrance to the outside. It was used in emergencies, when the main doors were blocked. Rather handy for sneaking out, if Sho was perfectly honest. Opening the little door, she crawled inside and shut it quietly behind her. She hated being cramped like this, but it was the best method of getting out without being seen. She began the crawl to the outside. After helping the wounded soldier to the medical ward Dirk headed back to the barracks where the men were getting suited up for a run through thick clay. He walked inconspicuously and without anyone noticing him, overhearing the soldiers talking. "Damn General Phoenix, we did this run a few days ago and all it did was get our equipment all mucked up!" A soldier complained as his companion helped him with his chainmail. "It's not our damn fault he doesn't know how to act like a true General, he doesn't even have his own men he just goes around to random people and kicks their asses." Then a larger soldier stood up after lacing his heavy boots. "He doesn't just kick their asses, I've heard he taught some techniques to the soldiers. The kind of techniques you only have the privilege to learn." A soldier laughed in disbelief. "Why would we not get taught anything that would make us stronger? You would think the King wants his army to be the best." The larger Soldier slipped his gauntlets on and replied, "These techniques are very hard to learn, not everyone can be taught them. It breaks most men who try, you have to be pushed past the limits." The cocky soldier spoke up again, "Well the men who can't handle it shouldn't even be in this damn army, most of them are punk kids who think being a warrior is cool or something, kids will see their first death, will freak out, and weaken our entire army, leaving us fragile... Then our flanks get overrun and we all die." A new soldier joined in, "Which is why our General only chooses anyone who has battle experience in his portion of the army. You'll only have to watch the kids get slaughtered on the field, you won't have to hear them scream up close, It's their own faults for joining." During this time Dirk had been able to walk right into the middle of them unseen and pickpocketed a pear from someone, he had a mouthful already and spoke up. "About 5 years ago," Dirk said as everyone was surprised and turned to him realizing he was there. "I had initiated an attack on a mercenary encampment, I had my 30 men and there was about 100 men on standby. We hadn't expected them to be as large as they were, their leader was persuasive, he had mostly kids in his army." At this time the men were all focusing on Dirk, "It was the battle I've lost most my men in, we assassinated their leader hoping they would collapse. All it did was anger them, a boy no older than 15 stepped up to the leader role and slaughtered 25 of my men. We fought hard, and they fought with something I've never seen the enemy fight with before. They were mostly innocent, but together they overthrew my experienced soldiers. The reserve came in just in time to save my own life, I tried so hard to keep my comrades alive. They killed almost half of the reserved men until they were all killed, even the last boy, the leader, who could barely lift a sword ran at us, only to be shot down with an arrow. Most of these kids had no armor, no sharp swords, makeshift weapons and they overthrew our army. "These kids had almost won because they believed we were the bad guys, that we were destroying their world and together had a bond of love like no other. I feel as if we were the bad guys, every soldier I killed was an innocent kid tainted with the wrong ideals. It's simply because they were all young and had total belief in what they were fighting for. They fought with heart." The men could do nothing but trade looks, Dirk put his pear down and stood up, "Now, have your children army fight for the belief of brotherhood in our armies, and we have ourselves a family of fierce young warriors. It would be better suited for young people to at least die for the right reasons than to be slaughtered for utter nonsense." Dirk looked around, "Looks like your all suited up, I'll be accompanying you on the Mud trails to town." Dirk headed towards the trail to get ready to do some intense, slow, mucky mud walking.

Colleen Kavanaugh Knowledge and fair thought...xxxxxxxxxxxx...they are our greatest national treasure.Leafing through the pages of an immense tome, Colleen's cool eyes seemed to quiver back and forth as she swiftly read the difficult language describing architectural building principles. Though this sort of thing would normally seem horribly dry and boring to read, the young woman found herself fascinated by the intricate technicality of the language. The origin of moats in relation to mottes, the positions of keystones and springings, and the uses of pendentives filled her mind as she locked this knowledge away in her memory so that it may one day come to use. Reading was her most powerful passion as everything she learned was going to build her into a stronger person. Even this text on architecture may someday give her the ability to help someone; even if it's just to point them to the right book.
The head librarian approached her silently from amongst the book stacks and gently sat next to her at the long study table. Colleen didn't look up, but she slowly reached out a hand let it rest on her mentor's shoulder in unspoken greeting. The older librarian leaned into her touch and then rested her head on her hands; staring absently at the deserted bookshelves that filled the entire chamber in carefully defined rows. Colleen squeezed the head librarian's shoulder once and let her hand fall back to the tome before while she turned the page. The elder turned her wisened gaze on her pupil and smiled lightly with gentle feeling touching her wrinkled features. Colleen didn't look up, but she felt the kind stare and, just barely, smiled herself.
"Do you require my aid?" Colleen's quietly voiced monotone carried only a hint of the subdued amusement she felt at her mentor.
"Not at all, child. This time of day, the library is always empty and you seemed very engrossed. Is it good?"
"It is fascinating. Architecture is a science of simple common sense married to physical mathmatics. With every innovation described in this book, I am further astounded by great minds that saw in nature what others could not. It takes a very wise person to discover something different in what she already knows."
"Oh my, it must be a good book then. It's unlike you to speak about something at such length." The old woman laughed quietly under the echoing castle roof. Warm summer light filtered down on her grinning face and Colleen's tiny smile grew. "Forgive me for prattling on, but would you mind telling me how the princess is doing these days? It seems like ages since her last visit."
Colleen finished another page, but this time she lifted a small blue ribbon from the desk where she'd lain it and closed the book on it. The young woman's straight black hair rustled slightly as she lifted her head and sat back in the worn wooden chair. "Her highness is feeling cloistered, I believe," she said with a hint of wistfulness.
"Oh my, oh my, the poor girl. I imagine it's only natural that a young woman like her would begin to feel stifled."
"Yes..." Colleen sighed ever so slightly and turned her gaze downward, "I wish there were something I might do for her, but I am unsure what it is that she needs."
It was the old woman's turn to lay her hand on Colleen's hunched shoulder; her fragile voice brimming with encouragement, "You two have always been such good friends; don't fret so, child! Hold your head high and carry yourself without doubts. Our little highness will find her own way while you're keeping that keen eye of yours on the road ahead of her."
Colleen finally turned her head to face the twinkling eyes of her mentor. "Yes, head librarian," she intoned, her usually neutral voice coloring slightly with appreciation. Standing gracefully, Colleen reached for the book she had been reading, "I shall be going then. Your words have helped... I wish to meet her highness now."
The old lady said nothing, but continued to beam angelically as she snatched the heavy tome away from Colleen's grasp. She would undoubtedly keep the book aside until Colleen returned to finish it another time. Colleen herself let her private smile stay on her thin lips and she brushed her fingers lightly on the head librarian's back as she walked away from the table and bookshelves and made her way into the dim passages of Castle Abriene.

Treasa ni Bres Oh, sweetie, I don't know...xxxxxxx...what you're talking about.Throwing the ornate doors wide, Treasa practically strutted from the meeting room behind her. Light from the windows in the room behind accentuated her natural style and played through the thin silk of her off-the-shoulder summer wrap and matching white ruffled skirt. She smirked as the door guards took in her figure and well-planned atire. She was proud of herself that she had remembered to wear her thigh-highs and impractical heels; with this skirt she was irresistable. She took the moment to pass a delicate hand through her sparkling golden hair, sending it fluttering about her shoulders, and then turned her head to profile so her voice would reach the diplomats behind her.
"Thank you as always, gentlemen. I'm so glad a compromise could be met to include Connachta's humble needs," her slightly nasal soprano was light and humble, and she accentuated it with a perfectly timed giggle. Raising her eyes, she saw that the door guard was blushing and trying to look away, 'Heh. As it should be.'
She let an innocent smile dwell on her full-lips and strode away from the remnants of her day's work. Today had been a cake-walk since she had been meeting with the simpering old men and none of the more... willful nobles like an adviser. Laughing inside, Treasa remembered just how easy it was to manipulate that slight advantage in this month's trade agenda by wearing something skimpy and putting on her best innocent act. If things kept going like this, little bits here and little bits there, she'd be able to bring in some of the big guns by this winter and sink Pasaid into an alliance with Connachta out of trade necessity. Wouldn't that be a spectacular success? Because, as everyone knew, an alliance was just one step from a protectorate... Well, it was when Connachta was involved. The smile Treasa wore broadened into a pleased grin. It wouldn't be that easy of course; the current king and queen would probably step in before the trade rights became too lop-sided and have someone inconvenient supervise the trade agenda, but a girl could dream.
Passing two minor noblemen in the halls, Treasa focused herself and nodded to them prettily, addressing them by name and greeting them politely. They responded kindly in return and seemed pleased that she had spoken with them; this outfit was definitely a keeper. She turned a corner that would lead her on a shortcut past the hall of records to one of the side-entrances and save her some walking in these shoes to get back to the embassy, but she caught herself and stood watching as a familiar young woman came out of the library into the hall.
An adviser to the princess... Kavanaugh, Colleen Kavanaugh from the port town and one of the stuffiest new advisers for Princess Shoshanna. Her feet would regret it later, but Treasa couldn't help feeling a confidence inspired need to see where the young dark haired woman was headed. Adviser to the princess meant she almost always had important business when she was hurrying somewhere like that. Treasa made after her, her sexy heels clacking smartly on the stone floor.

Colleen Kavanaugh Knowledge and fair thought...xxxxxxxxxxxx...they are our greatest national treasure.Colleen passed several people on her way to the dining hall where the royal family would have finished their morning meal. She strongly doubted that they would still be eating by now, but maybe the serving staff would have seen the princess and could point Colleen in the right direction. When she came to the royal family's private dining hall, she checked with the door guard that their highnesses weren't still within, and then slipped inside. The room was busy with servants clearing the table and scrubbing it down in preparation for the next meal, but Colleen managed to get one young woman's attention. She motioned for the servant to come out from the hussle inside and held the door for her as she passed into the hallway.
"How may I be of service, milady?"
Colleen's quiet monotone was hesitant, "Pardon the interruption... Are you aware, per chance, of the princess's whereabouts?"
The woman laughed in a friendly manner and nodded, "She went out this morning, or so the servers've been sayin'. Probably on another "adventure" in the town."
Nodding quietly, Colleen thanked the servant and let her return to her work. If the princess went into town, there was little hope of finding her, but it wouldn't be unseemly to wait for her return. The young woman nodded to herself and started off again through the echoing castle halls. She quickly returned to her chambers, an austere but lived in little room near the library, and silently lifted a stack of papers, a pen and ink from her work desk into her arms. This amount of work would surely take longer than she really needed, but it did need to get finished eventually. Hugging the documents to her chest, she pushed open the door with her shoulder and carefully made her way toward the entry chamber.
For a moment she thought she saw a woman in white around a corner when she turned a particularly sharp corner, but Colleen thought nothing of it while thoughts of spending the day watching over Shoshanna milled about in her head. She reached the grand entry hall and took a bench near to the main entrance where she settled down and began reading through and subsequently signing the official documents she had brought. The guards at the entry and the normal daily traffic that came through cast curious sideways glances in Colleen's direction, but by the time anyone had noticed her, the young woman was already focused on her task.
There several flaws in her plan to wait here, Colleen knew, but in the end it was more about the act of waiting for her friend than the actual meeting in the future. The princess could, for instance, take a side door into the castle or even walk past her adviser entirely; Colleen was deep in work sitting to the side of the main paths and little could sway her attention. In truth, Colleen knew she should just wait in her room until the evening and try searching again then, but this was a sort of relaxing excersize in being a "big sister." She did illogical things like this every now and then for the people she cared about.
"Take your time, princess, and please have an enjoyable outing," she whispered while focusing on a particularly virulant strain of legal language regarding to the aftermath of this year's Festival of Lights ten days ago.

Treasa ni Bres Oh, sweetie, I don't know...xxxxxxx...what you're talking about. So Kavanaugh was looking for the princess who was, apparently, on another of her infamous excursions into town. What a silly little pointless errand this adviser was on; she could be using this time to take care of business that would have been impossible with her charge about. After following her to her room and ending up in the main entry hall, it was clear that all this silly young woman was concerned with was wasting time. Very well then, Treasa was prepared to use this to her advantage.
Nonchalantly making her way to the adviser's side, Treasa made a show of waving and quietly trying to get Colleen's attention. The adviser didn't even bat an eyelash however, so focused was she in her papers. Sighing visibly, Treasa sat beside the busy woman and leaned in close to her ear.
"Excuse me, Ms. Adviser?" she whispered.
Colleen blinked and turned away from the report on immigration over the last year, gasping ever so slightly when she realized how close the finely dressed foreigner was. Searching her flawless memory, Colleen connected a name to the face and determined her nationality to be from Connachta. The accent confirmed it.
Her answer was curt, but neutral, "Yes, Ms. Ambassador."
Smiling disarmingly, Treasa sat back and giggled lightly, "You were quite absorbed in your work. Please forgive me for intruding."
"It is no bother. What may I do for you?"
"Oh my, straight to the point then! Have you come across the princess today?"
Colleen quirked an eyebrow, "I have not. In point of fact, I am currently awaiting her return from an excursion into the township. What nature is your business? I may be capable of helping."
Without a doubt, this woman was unnecessarily stuffy. Treasa clapped her hands together in pleasure and nodded once, "That'd be amazing, Ms. Adviser! You see, this has sort of been on my mind for a while and I only just got up the nerve to ask today so..." She let her voice become nervous and blushed slightly, "The truth is, I've been sending letters back home with my monthly reports and it seems Connachta's young Princess Medb has become infatuated with the idea of meeting our own Princess Shoshanna." Laughing bemusingly, Treasa met Colleen's eyes, "Of course that can't happen. Both princesses have schedules that are far too busy to allow for the proper timing of a state visit or somesuch, but I'd just hate to let down little Princess Medb, you know? Before I left for this post, I got to see her everyday and we sort of became friends, you see. I think she expects me to be able to work miracles after moving to the "magical land" of Pasaid, you know?"
Colleen nodded knowingly. She was indeed acquainted with such feelings since she fashioned herself Princess Shoshanna's older sister of sorts; so she empathized with Treasa. It would be impossible for the two princesses to meet, but surely Colleen could arrange for something. "I am willing to help. Did you have anything in mind?"
"Actually, I was hoping you'd have a suggestion considering you're the princess's adviser and all."
Colleen pondered for a few moments, "Perhaps the princesses may hold a correspondence of some sort via letter?" Rubbing her chin in thought, Colleen stared ahead, "I believe, however, that it may be most prudent to ask the princess herself."
"Oh my, you may have a point there!" Treasa laughed. "Do you know when Princess Shoshanna will be returning? I'm due back at the embassy shortly, but I'd like to take care of this as soon as possible. You know, while I'm thinking about it so I don't forget." Letting her bright eyes twinkle, Treasa parted her lips slightly and settled her expression to one of innocent exuberance.
Colleen stood and set her work onto the bench. She faced the ambassador and tilted the edges of her lips into a faint smile. "I do not know when she will return, however I shall be happy to send word to you as soon as is possible."
Treasa clapped her hands together again happily and nodded, "That would be so so SO helpful, Ms. Adviser! Thank you very much!" She stood and clasped Colleen's hand briefly, "I'll be about my business in the meantime. Call for me at the embassy whenever you like!" Treasa bowed a couple of times to emphasize her pleasure at this turn of events and then turned away and walked proudly out of the castle. That had worked marvellously!Treasa leaves Abriene Castle for Abriene Castle Town.Colleen Kavanaugh Knowledge and fair thought...xxxxxxxxxxxx...they are our greatest national treasure.

Shoshanna LorannexxxxThe Crowned Jewel of PasaidWe Live For Our p e o p l exxxx. . . But When Do We Live For o u r s e l v e s ?Currently in Athraigh: Abreine Castle COMING FROM: Abriene Castle Town "What in the world do you think you're doing, Shoshanna!? Coming home late like this? Your father and I have been worried SICK about you! How could you do this to us?!" Shoshanna stood calmly as her mother spouted and ranted about how she shouldn't have gone out to town in the first place. It was expected, though. Her mother was literally paranoid, especially of her daughter. She knew she wouldn't be punished, though. The festival was tomorrow, and she was to be at the head of the parade. Banning her from going outside on the festival would be catastrophic to their plans. "Mother, I understand you were worried, but please hear me out." Shoshanna began, tone relaxed. There was no need to raise her voice, so she didn't. "I am a legal adult, now. I really believe that I should be given more freedom as one. For example, I've been preparing for my job for months, now. My job is a little more grandeur than other occupations but I've been getting ready like any other average adult. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself, and taking care of everything else around me. I'm also perfectly capable of taking a stroll through my own city." She stared at her mother attempting to formulate a response. It went from anger, to sadness, to deep thought. Shoshanna could tell she was choosing what to say next carefully before she spoke. "Dear, I can see you've put some thought into this. And I see your point. Your father seems to be willing to let you have more freedom, so I don't see why I shouldn't either." She approached her daughter and put a hand on her cheek. "Alright. I'll let you go into town more. Unrestricted, without a guard. Promise me one thing, though." "Sure, mother. What is it?" "You'll learn how to defend and attack others. I have a feeling that as queen you will need the knowledge and strength to get out of stickier situations." "Of course, mother." A smile spread across her mother's face. "Thank you, dear." She kissed the top of her daughter's forehead. "Now get to bed! You've a big day tomorrow. I want you to rest up." "Sure thing, mum. Good night!" Shoshanna turned the other direction and began walking up the winding staircase to her bedroom.
