Here i though it would be interesting to see what personal touches people put on their army. Be it in the way you paint them, naming the army, coming up with their back round or even just name some of your units. What do you do to make your army unique to you?

Overall, I modeled my painting scheme around the Hercules beetle. Or one variation of it. Hence the name Hive Fleet Hercual.

I like to name my individual pieces and etch their names into their base. Not all that special really.

I have a story for quite a few of my little pieces, like the daily lives of them and such, why they joined the fight and things like that. Some of them even have favorite colors and animals.

I scratchbuild things for my Orks, and convert, of course. Nothing more personal that a Warboss on a giant warbike you built yourself (the one I built barely fits on a Valkyrie base), or battlewagon, or deff dread, or reaverkoptas...

Well, personally, i like to Name my notable mini's, Like my Captain, Eleos, each name will be a creek word, having a deeper meaning. I also ad Heraldry to my Marines Malevolent, After doing some back research, i found on the Lexicanum that veteran status is denoted by Hazard stripes, so i work this into the heraldry, Denoted on the Captain by his shouldershield and banner If your wondering, this is a sicarius model, with a swapped out helmet and a terminator shouldershield, apologies if the image is to large :3. the heraldry theme i have continued onto my terminators ^^

I have a few things. I use bits and figures for other armies. One of my skull champions is a Cannoness with a Possessed Chaos Space Marine"s mutated power fist and the imperial decree impaled to her back pack with the mark of Khorne painted on in blood. One of my other berzerkers uses an Ork patchwork banner from back in 3rd edition. Painted like it was made of patches of rotting skin sewn together with the Mark of Khorne on it.
As for my Berzerkers paint jobs, I like to mix it up. So there will be ones that have alternate color schemes, those with split color schemes, those in pre-heresy colors.
One of my dreadnoughts is a converted Venerable dreadnought that has a bunch of chaos vehicle bits, berzerker head, and wielding a Daemon Prince's sword. Since my current army is an all walker army, I'm planning on fully customizing my next Defilers.
I also use a lot of models from other games or models that aren't from games at all.

How 'bout convertin' space marine bikes ta' warbika's work? I got ork top halves wit' spacemarine legs on bikes, alogn wit' some who got space marine arms jus' fer th' hell o' it. Put some orky bits on 'em, mayhaps soem space marine bits, even some body parts from space marines. I also put chaos stuff on 'em as well. One warbika' has a defiler mask ova' his face. I also got me old metal deff dread decked out wit' a bunch o' chaos stuff and some random stuff jus' 'cause

Some of them even have favorite colors and animals. Nice I find it kind of fun coming up with back stories for my army tho not to good at the naming part I've gone a step further. I've made a story, and I'm posting it on Fanfiction.net. ^^ As for how my army's unique, here's what I've done. My army is a strange combination between Chaos Marines and Loyalist Marines. I've got an overall paint scheme (might have to re-work it here and there), but it's not all the same paint scheme. There are bits and pieces of the armor that are similar colors to other Space Marine chapters, loyalist and traitor. So it's like they're Marines from many different chapters, and they have hints of those older chapter colors in their armor. For instance, there's one that was an Iron Warrior, and he's got a shoulderplate that's silvery and yellow on one side. ...so would that count? confused
