Here is a place for you to post your stories about fights that against all odds you won. Battles were by the chance of the dice you army punched above its weight.
For me my Penal Legion squad have done this time and time again. For 80 points they have shown their worth. : First fight this happened was against Tau. They storm up beside a tank and got enough 6's to disable for the turn. After that they charge forth and took out a squad of ten Fire Warriors. Took out over half in melee then did sweeping advance of the rest. Sadly tho they go shoot down by the Kroot of all things. : Second time was in a melee up against some Elite Eldar. They only way I could win the battle was for me to roll a 6 and my friend to roll a 1. That's just what happened. I managed to once again hurt enough to sweeping advance and take them out.
So lets hear your epic tales of battle

The first that comes to mind is a linked campaign (3 battles) I had a few years ago against a friend. I was playing Speed Freaks (Orcs on Wheels) and he was deploying Dark Angels. First Game, I ram my tank bustas against his land raider and in their first attempt the behemoth was turned into a pile of molten junk. Second Game, I go first and position my tank bustas in orther to go for the land raider as fast as I could. My friend resolves to avenge the ultrage of the last battle and spends half his force to try to eliminate the tank bustas first. He fails his first (and massive) attempt only to see them (TBustas) blow the land raider again in their next turn ( you can imagine the grin on my face). Third game: My friend completly forgets any objectives in the battle and makes a point that my Tank Bustas will not survive the battle. I use it to play him by the nose running and hiding the TB's the first two turns, and then i go for.... the Land Raider! First hit imobilises it, and in the last turn, the only surviving orc of the squad (by foot because the truck was blown to pieces too) goes in and plants a mine under the beast blowing it to pieces unce again.
Never when for a fight without them ever again! mrgreen

First game after a long time out I played my IG my best mate whos is starting the same time as me and his tau.
Harker ROCKS, he spent the whole game bunkered down in a crater with a vet squad in 3 turns his boys accumulated Half of two full Firewarrior squads Devilfish
In the same game, flipside, my Sly marbo killed 2 firewarriors then ate a burst cannon and my missile squad consistently failed to hit the devilfish after 6 turns....

I opnce played a game where my opponent had all of his initial forces in two Land Raiders. On my first turn, Ork Boyz with rokkit launchas immobilized them both, exposing the squishy meats inside to my 'klaw'd biker Boss and 'klaw'd biker Nobz. Carnage ensued. I went on to win by one kill point by charging a drednaught that just deep struck on the last turn and wrecking it with the mob's 'klaw'd Nob.

I played my Current army against a 2000pts Chaos force, after my 'Partner' dropped out, i was left over 1100pts out pointed, but decided to go with it anyway.
Daemons appeared, Rhino's Closed in, Berserkers ran about, and my Small Taskforce went to the toilet in their power armored pants.
The Tactical squad had split into two 5 man squads to hold a grand maximum of 2 objectives of 3, spilt up further on other ends of the board, so i put some terminators and my captain with the one, and the Dread with the other
and 'Against all odds' I won by holding the Objectives with 3 Tactical Casualties, 4 Terminator casualties and the Captain on a wound.
All down to my vanila Dreads close combat oppertunities and a LUCKY chainfist in the back of a landraider.
The man of the match is my C/A Sicarius, who used his Tallasarian Tempest Blade to strike down my opponents daemon prince in CC in the 4th turn :3, securing the 2nd objective biggrin , the game had ammased quite a crowd by then :3, and it was a REAL good game.

It was a 3750 point battle Two teams of two. It was Chaos Daemons(1750) and Chaos Space Marines(2000)(me) versus Blood Angels(1750) and Tau(2000).
This battle happened last Saturday. I had a squad of 10 berzerkers charging into cover to take out some Tau Pathfinders. They got marker lighted and then obliterated by a team of three Crisis suits(Crisis Suit HQ included in this). The obliteration ended with three berzerkers left alive. Those three assaulted the Crisis suits buring the next turn. In combat the Skull Champion, armed with a power fist was killed and so was one of the normal berzerkers. They managed to put 3 wounds on the crisis suits and the Crisis Suits ran. The single remaining berzerker ran them down in a sweeping advance and slaughtered them all.
The next turn he took a full volley of fire from the Pathfinders and saved all wounds. He tried to pull them back but I was still able to assault them. That single berzerker jumped into combat landed 2 wounds and killed one. He took no wounds and the pathfinders broke he made a sweeping advance and killed them. 21 points did more damage than my Dreadnoughts, Kharn the Betrayer, and Defilers combined.
We still lost the battle since the terrain and deployment type weren't in my army's favor. No to mention run rolls and my Dreadnoughts crazy rolls were all amazingly low. My army is based on a three front charge 2 Rhinos with 10 Berzerkers each, another with 9 and Kharn the Betrayer, 3 Dreads, and 3 defilers. Dreadnoughts for attacking infantry held flank away from my Rhinos and the Defilers for charging the center while gunning away with the battle cannon.

Again! the Dreadnought Prevails 'against all odds'
Wednesday the 15th, i had a chance to get away to my Local GW where they were running an all comers game, murphys law i arrived mid game, and only had Brother Arete with me, by chance aswell, so i put him in the game 'Awoken' in the main Cathedral that was the center of this all comers battle.
Again and Again he beat off the incoming waves of infantry Contesting for a total of 3 turns before being laid low by Abadon himself.
He wiped out a traitor guard squad. And a lucky Assault cannon round plucked out an Eldar War Walker from range, before charging into 6 eldar scorpions. although being glanced with no effect by the clawed exarch, he dispatched them over the last 2 turns of his consciousness before being charged by the Despoiler and Beaten into scrap

I will tell you a tale of a battle most foul. An Apocalypse game, of 6000 points. 'Twas a rather large game, with points all around. And my guardsmen did number 151. They were mostly catachan fighting on the front line away from their home. With lasguns, and demo charges, and Colonel Straken too, they formed the front line, ready to die. With little armor, save for my Bane Wolfs, they took positions, ready to fight. In the rearguard were the Ultramarines, they took the citadel for their own, they laughed and they sighed, 'tis the marines that will carry the day, now onward to victory as guardsmen die!
Then came the clanking of the chaos battle line. 6000 points of rhinos, berserkers and thousand suns too. I could almost see the fear in the guardsmen's dull eyes. But I roused their spirits and patted their backs, it is for the Emperor we fight till we die. Gritting their teeth, and gripping their guns, they fought and they died, but they held the line. Where rhinos were, autocannons did fire, where land raiders stood, lascannons did move. And finally near the end, where blood meets the sand, in the midst of turn three, my guardsmen did cry "Ave Imperator! Let our enemies die!"
And so my guardsmen did charge the foe, and 18 demo charges did smite them so. Though little was left of my guardsmen so brave, of chaos there was next to no taint. The players stood there, shock on their faces, what they thought would be a loss, or a speedbump to victory, had carried through and won us the day. And there stood my army in tatters, all in disarray, they looked almost proud of their actions that day.
So remember my friends of their sacrifice not in vain. Remember Pvt. Haxta Bruilla, the voxcaster who was almost turned into gibbily chaos spawn not once, not twice, but three times that day. Remember Sgt. Raganna, who led his team into one last fray, to give time to the gun teams to find safety from chaos marines. Remember Trauma and Hack, the last of the 3 squads of penal legion, and psychotic brethren who stood unflinching against 5 beserkers. Remember Captain Orl who slew 3 traitor marines as he refused to fall back in time. His actions that day saved the men who would prime their charges and let them all fly.
Not a single space marine fired their gun, nor fought in battle, thanks to my men. So, remember my friends, that in the Grim Darkness of the 41st millennium, there are the guardsmen, just as human as you and me, fighting the good fight, against daemons, and horrors, and xenos most foul. Against the cold dark void of extinction they fight with the spirit that embodies the very best of humanity. So tell them all, that we held the line.

Recently me and the lads were combating some nasty xenos in a game of Deathwatch, when we were attacked by a Tyranid Warrior beastie. There were only three of us on the mission, and most of use made crappy rolls for initiative, but thankfully our walking and talking killing machine of a Devastator was there( actually the first session or two of the mission he sucked as much as vampire). Hunk(yes Hunk, Hunk MacDougan to be more precise, but anyways)braced and open fire on that thing on full-auto and the craziest thing happened, he kept getting critical hits when he rolled for damage(everytime you roll a ten on a ten sided die you get to roll another attact). He did close to 400 points of damage on the thing. It only had 130 life points. That goes to show that just because a Space Marine has a cappy name does not mean he is a Crappy Marine.
