I was thinking about this for a little bit, and I wanted people's opinion.
What if music playlists were created for each place in Pasaid? We could find songs that fit the location and people could play the songs as they roleplay in a certain area.
If this were to happen, I'd need help from you guys.
What do you all think?

If this were to happen, a lot of Pasaid's music would be more folk-y and orchestral. Death metal, for example, is definitely out of the equation.
I based certain aspects of Pasaid on Ireland, so celtic music is definitely a yes.
Halp.

I listen to those styles of music anyways, I'll start saving them if it reminds me of Pasaid.

Oh my, celtic sounds for celtic places:

Diohbell - Dol Gabh Settlement: Prologue in Loreena McKennitt's Book of Secrets

Siochan - Ahmeyed Forest: The Mystic's Dream in Loreena McKennitt's The Mask and Mirror

Unfortunately those are the only two of the five I had planned that actually exist within easy access on the internet... I wonder why Kate Price is so hard to find? In any case, I'll do my best to keep looking around through my music for songs that I think might match certain places. A lot of the locations in Pasaid are very... happy and open... and most of the celtic music I have is darker and mysterious with a feel as though it were speaking to the spirits. Mind you, I have quite a few up-beat songs that might work, but they're not quite instrumental enough for background music I think.

Hopefully I can find a few more by tomorrow to help out with this musical quest.

A lot of the locations in Pasaid are happy and open because that's all I've thought of, ahaha. There's so much space left to fill on Pasaid's map, though, darker places will be added. The entire region of Diohbell, though, is pretty dark.

I like both of the tracks a lot actually, and they do fit them both quite a bit.

I found a track for just Diohbell in general. I'm not sure if it's just me who thinks it fits, but give her a listen and tell me what you think:

This About the Dead

The only Celtic-sound in it is a violin sample, but I think of it as the tunes of the few residents in Diohbell trying to be heard or something like that... Echoes of the past... OoooOOOooohh.... eek

Or if anyone thinks it fits somewhere else... A vast, empty desert (like this thing)is kind of what popped into my head when I first heard it.

I LIKE IT.

YAAAAY.
I found one for Lake Ailannes, or just somewhere in Cannaire. Actually, I'm not very sure where this one could go. The steady beat reminded me of fishermen hard at work, reeling in today's catch, and how ambient it is resembles their lifestyle. I dunno.
Peacock Tail

As it goes on it sounds like straw baskets. :I

i have a couple of suggestions, like Maybe by Yiruma for D'aonne of Siohchan
this one is a pure piano tune and i think it suits the peacefulness of the rolling hills.
and Start by Depapepe for Trachtail City of Gasalie
this one's a guitar duet and it's a lot more lively, i love the melody to this song

I'd like to put forward Damh the Bard, one of my favourite Celtic artists. Grimspound would be appropriate for many sparsely-populated areas. Noon of the Solstice is a good one for somewhere lively and cheery.

@Prince Lyre: I like them both! Perhaps Grimspound would fit Ahmeyed? And Noon of the Solstice Abriene Castle Town? Or maybe somewhere in Veidhlinn.
@TokiRyuu: I love Yiruma! I've learned a few of his songs on piano. Anyway, I see Maybe fitting more into Lake Ailannes, or perhaps one of the quieter, quainter towns of Pasaid. (Not Cannaire- while it's small, it's lively.) Perhaps Ceceal? And I've never heard of Depapepe before, but I actually really like the song. I love how the guitar carries a voice of its own. Anyway, yeah! It might fit for Trachtail in the daytime.

So! So far, here's the songs that have officially been sorted into playlists:

DIOHBELL
This About The Dead - Odd Nodsam
Dol Gabh: Prologue - Loreena McKennitt's Book of Secrets

SIOHCHAN
Ahmeyed Forest: The Mystic's Dream - Loreena McKennitt's Book of Secrets, Grimspound
Lake Ailannes: Peacock Tail - Boards of Canada

GLASAILE
Trachtail City: Start - Depapepe
ATHREIGH
Abriene Castle Town: Noon of the Solstice
PostPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 6:25 am

Mmm yes it would fit Ahmeyed quite well. Noon of the Solstice would really amuse me in Abriene since the kings in the song are both struggling against each other and constantly losing their crowns to the other. Evil omens for the king mwahahahaha! In a way, it's kind of appropriate for the strive the Order has brought though hmm?

Samhain Eve is also a good one if you need a theme for a haunted or deserted place.

Huron is also peppy and happy. And we all love Loreena. rolleyes

I was thinking of one for the isle of the pirates... (name is escaping me just now.) Mordred's Lullaby has very appropriate lyrics.

Me thinks a lot of Animal Crossing (Gamecube version) might work. Especially the song at 8am.

Anyways, how's this track for Trachtail at nighttime?
Tin Strong
PostPosted: Fri Feb 11, 2011 5:08 pm

Animal Crossing GC is lovely <3 and some of it would fit!

And Tin Strong reminds me of Yume Nikki music! Anyway, it seems a little creepy for Trachtail. Trachtail is a sketchy place at night, but it's not necessarily creepy. I picture the track fitting nicely in Diohbell.

OH! Speaking of Yume Nikki, some of it might fit well in places in Pasaid. Here's what I was thinking:
Rooftop Music - Possibly Ahmeyed Forest at daytime?
Illusionary World - Ahmeyed at night.
And there's one track (which I can't find, I'll find it later) that plays in these abandoned barracks that would fit perfectly for Diohbell. Like, if I were in Diohbell I would picture the track playing in the back.

All tracks have been sorted except for Mordred's Lullaby- I'm not quite sure what you mean by the Pirate Isle, Lyre. Tracks not mentioned here have been added as well.
You can check out the playlists in the Information Threads in each Subforum.
