It's really not that difficult at all. If you read or at least look at books you can see how it's done. I've been reading books but not voluntarily. My English teacher makes us read and I just write like the books I read.

Umm...not really but for your spelling, all you need is practice.

If you want to practice with someone, I can. I used to be a little obsessed with it, but that phase is over and I don't really anymore. I only belong to 7 roleplaying guilds/forums now.

nevermind my lack of capital letters; it's how i type when i'm being informal. i can and always do type with capitals when i'm rping or writing something important.

for good spelling, it's best to turn on your browser's spell-check function; firefox has one as well as google chrome. internet explorer likely has one by now but you'd have to check, and i'm not sure about any other browsers since i only use the first two i named. as not every single word you know will be recognized by the spell-check, if you're sure that you spelled it correctly and you still get the red squiggly line, you can type the word in a search... the little google thing in the upper right-hand corner of firefox works wonders. it'll bring up your word or ask if you meant to spell it a certain way. check the meaning, then use it if it's fine. be sure to add the word to your browser's dictionary after you've triple-checked it (in firefox: right-click on the red-underlined word and select "add to dictionary").

grammar's a harder thing to simply suggest help with, other than "read books" and "read the wikipedia article about american english grammar;" i'm not sure if queen's english and american english has different grammatical rules but i'd imagine so. some important things to note, though:

they're is a contraction and means they are ("they're going to leave" / "they are going to leave").
there refers to a direction ("over there").
their is possessive, indicating ownership of a thing or things by a group ("their money").

you're is a contraction and means you are ("you're going to mall, correct?" / "you are going to the mall, correct?")
your is possessive, indicating ownership of a thing or things by a single person, the person that the speaker is referring to ("your car")

Apostrophe then S: _____'s is possessive, indicating ownership of a thing or things by a single person ("Ricky's bags").
S then apostrophe: _____s' is possessive, indicating ownership of a thing or things by a group ("all of the artists' pictures are wonderful," perhaps said in a contest or art gallery)

don't forget your commas and periods, and things of that nature. when trying to roleplay intelligently, do not use netspeak or shorthand; you are not rping on twitter.

^this.

Also, before you even think about roleplaying, there are some things you need to keep in mind.

First, you need a character. The only things that should be set-in-stone for a roleplaying character is the name, personality, likes and dislikes, and a GENERAL description of their backstory. I say general because the finer detail of their background is going to vary between roleplays. This was a rant I put up in Barton OoC a couple of days ago. Instead of being a rant, it turned out to be an educational-type thing. I'd pay attention to the second point about Well-developed characters. It's a bit of a TL;DR, but I promise it'll help.

Secondly, if you aren't certain what the point of the roleplay is, it's a waste of time to join. The point of a roleplay is to have fun and my idea of fun is NOT taking an hour of my time typing up a post when the roleplay isn't going anywhere.

Finally, spelling and grammar come with practice. But, if you aren't sure how to spell something, get a Dictionary. Or, for convenience, keep Dictionary.com up on a second tab. It's a bit more trouble than just spelling phonetically, but I promise that, in time, you'll stop needing it altogether.
