T h e G r e a t W a y s o f R o m e . . . IntroWelcome to the great city of Rome, the capital city of the Roman Empire. A population over over one million people makes the city bustling with activity. The Emperor rules over the empire with help from the fellow men in government. They live in the wealthier part of town with other Patricians. On the opposite side of the city, live the Plebeians or the common people of Rome. They are not as well off as the Patricians but have a good life. Living among everyone are the slaves and servants. These people combine to create the city of Rome. Located int eh center of the city is Forum, the center of all public life for Romans. It is a popular meeting place with beautiful gardens, shops, political meeting places, and many other facilities. Surrounding the forums are the apartments for the Plebeians to one side and the private homes for the Patricians. Throughout the city, are bathhouses to keep the people of Rome clean and a nice place to socialize. The Colosseum is located near the center of Rome and is a very large arena where chariot races, gladiator fights and many other games are held. From the outside of Rome, farmers tend to their farms and aqueducts bring running water in the city of Rome. The city is well kept, beautiful, and highly populated. T h e G r e a t W a y s o f R o m e . . .The StoryOur story takes place during after the Roman Republic ended and Rome is ruled by an emperor. Roman families are ruled by the father until he passes away. He has the right to do anythign with his children, even sentence them to death. The women basically have no say in what happens and don't work. They care for the children and stay in the house. Girls are accepted to be married by the age of 16-18 and their husband is picked out by their father. Daughters are also not as wanted as sons to the family. Boys have more freedom and are able to join the army, participate in politics, and have a say in their future wife.
A family high up in Roman politics have been awaiting the birth of their second child. Everyone was expecting it to be a boy and the father was outraged when his wife told him it was a girl. Outraged, the father ordered his wife to take their daughter to the forest and abandoned her. Heartbroken, the wife took the newborn away but took her to the emperor's place. She was close friends with the emperor's wife and knew she had just lost her son and was awaiting for the emperor to return so she could break the news to him. The wife begged the other to take her own daughter into the emperor's family. The emperor's wife accepted the baby girl and told her husband that it was there son, since he had never seen his son. The wife was the only one to know the secret until the daughter grew older, when her adoptive mother told her adoptive daughter/son. The girl didn't mind, she was living the life of the emperor's son and loved it. She had so much freedom and kept the secret well. No one has ever suspected the secret and the girl has been living the life of a boy for seventeen years. This is where our story begins.< Table of Contents >Intro

She keeps the secret well and loves her parents. She is next in line to take the throne when her father passes. She is close with The Brother, who she treats like a younger brother. She is just as strong as other boys her age helps her father in politics and battles. She is a general in the army and controls her own set of men. She is good friends with The Beautiful Maiden since she can relate to the strong girl. She likes that they accept her more then others do and don't treat her like a delicate woman. Slowly, she has started to have feelings toward The Emperor's "Son"... That won't cause any problems! He is very kind and caring and wants what is best for the city. He is smart in politics but isn't as skilled in battle as The Emperor's "Son". He hopes to one day get a spot in the Senate since he knows his brother will probably become the next emperor. He is good friends with The Beautiful Maiden and respects her like she was a boy. He doesn't trust The Solider and thinks something is up with him.The SoliderTaken || Reserved || OpenA very stern, power-hungry man. He is a solider in the army and is in The Emperor's "Son's" army. He doesn't like him and thinks something is up with him. He plans to find out what is going on with The Emperor's "Son". He is also arranged to marry The Beautiful Maiden and plans to put some sense in her brain. She is too strong-willed to him but he plans to change that as soon as they are wed. He is a good solider but is sometimes too quick to attack. He wants to become emperor somehow. He also doens't like The Brother just because he is the emperor' son.Note:: You can have your characters develop other feelings toward other characters as the roleplay goes on. I may be different, but I love who I am
Josh is like any other girl pretending to be a guy in Rome. She's rough, tough, and isn't afraid to get hurt. She is strong both in body and in mind. She was trained in battle since she was little and knows her way with a sword and arrow. She is also very smart in battle strategies and politics. Josh wants what is bets for the city and its people. She considers her options before rushing her army into battle. She loves her life and is close with her family. She is very close with her mother since her adoptive mother is the only other person that knows that she is a girl. Josh makes sure to get along with the Senate and not to anger them. She loves to be outside and his favorite place on the Emperor's ground is the Emperor's stables.
I've seen more then you can imagine
Josh was born to a family high up in Roman politics. Her parents had been expecting a boy and her father was outraged when he found out he had a daughter, not a son. He ordered his wife to leave Josh int eh forest and let her die. Luckily, her mother couldn't bring herself to leave her daughter so she took Josh to the Emperor's wife. The Emperor was away at the time and his wife had just given birth to a son who had died a day after birth. She accepted to take Josh as her own child and pretended that she was a boy. She refused to let anyone but herself take care of Josh, because she feared they would discover her secret. When the Emperor came back, his wife told him that Josh was their son. Since the Emperor had been away when his real son was born, he had no reason to suspect that Josh was really a girl.
Josh grew up as the Emperor's son and believed she really was a boy until she was five years old. At that age, her adoptive mother felt she was old enough to handle the truth and told Josh. Josh was shocked but promised to keep the secret and wasn't angry. She was living the life of her dreams and she had seen how women were treated int eh empire. She'd much rather pretend to be a boy then be treated like that. So she continued to pretend and kept the secret well. Not even her own adoptive brother suspected that she was really a girl. Josh was trained like other boys in the art of battle and politics. She became very smart in all subjects and it was clear she would be a good emperor when her father passed. Josh joined the army when she was fifteen and quickly moved up the ranks. She was skilled, smart, and wasn't quick to jump into battles. She soon became general of an army and led them well. She also is well respected in politics since she doens't get the other members upset and tries to do her best to pick good solutions for problems.
As Josh got older, her father began to talk about getting married. Fortunately, thanks to her mother, Josh has been able to push off the topic for a while, telling her father that she int interested in marriage but her father keeps bringing it up. Since she is really a girl, Josh knows she can't get married or be in a relationship with someone. It would be creepy. She hopes her father will eventually drop the whole topic all together. After all, her adoptive brother is coming about the age when eh should start looking for a wife. Maybe her father will try to get him to take a wife. Josh has one good friend not in his family. It is a girl but she has spirit, like Josh. She likes her friend and feels bad that she can't tell her that she's a girl. Although Josh knows it is the best to keep everything a secret. Cecelia is a loving and kind woman though she isn't afraid to stand up for herself. She may look like a girl on the outside, but on the inside, she's one of the guys. She isn't afraid to get down and dirty even though her parents and her fiancee frown upon it. She is a free spirit and is untamed though she constantly wants to please others. She is creative and is inspired by her love of nature. Her favorite thing to do is well to be outside! Some say she's down to earth and loves to help in any way she can. She protects others even though many men try to protect her. Though she may seem weak and fragile, she is actually pretty tough. Yet no one seems to care about that as long as she doesn't lose her beauty.

Cecelia was the only child of the Rondeau family and even though they wanted a son, they ended up with a girl. But it wasn't such a burden to them since she was talented and beautiful. Yet she was an untamed child. When she was little she would never do as she was told and she spent most of her time running outside or climbing trees. The last time she climbed a tree she had fallen and gotten a cut on her face. Her parents completely freaked out and rushed to heal the small scar. Cecelia never knew why her parents obsessed with her looks. To her, her beauty was a curse. Not at all a blessing. Though she never once complained. After that incident they told her she could never climb again. She had a terrible fit and climbed into a tree, threatening to never come down. Of course she only lasted a few hours before she became hungry and went back to her family.
She grew up listening to her parents though there were a few things she told them they couldn't tell her not to do. They compromised and she was happy with her life then. Though at sixteen, they began looking for possible suitors for her. She hated it. She would always have to look her best for a guy she knew she would never like. Unfortunately, she knew she would have to choose somebody or her parents would choose for her. It took her two years to find someone she was slightly interested in. The Soldier. She didn't know why she liked him. It wasn't because of his strength or because he was handsome. It was because he fought in wars. She loved listening to war stories and always dreamed of fighting in one. Being a hero and fighting for her home. She felt like she could live that dream by being with a soldier. Especially since women could never fight in a war. The only thing women were good for were bearing children and housework. The thought did always infuriate her, but she would do anything to please anyone. That's how she was raised. < Table of Contents >
