To All Those Who Recognize the Fragile Threads That Connect All Life In A Wondrous Woven Whole To Those Whose Lives And Spirits Have Inspired Me And In Others A Childlike Awe Of The Natural World, A Reverence That Can Never Be Diminished
With Great Thanks And Respect For All Of You, I Dedicate This To A Wise And Gentle Friend...
The Wolf (I didn't come up with the dedication, but it was so beautiful, I had to use it)

"Midnight Lullaby" Jacob Mussell Late at night when the moon is high The Wolf will make its eerie cry Echoes in the valleys deep And the mountains that are steep
Then they travel far and wide To find that soothing lullaby They do not stop not once at all Until they find that lovely song
Their children listen with awe and fright To how their parents sing at night Then they run with their pack Not turning once to look back
Running in the snowy night Covering their coats in frosty delight Finding the source of the music Sitting down and howling to it
Crying with the pack they found Vibrating the land with its sound They sing all night not in day Then they leave to get their prey

"His Last Howl" Codi Rogers The last howl That sounded Was from the wolf's heart Forever to echo In his pack's ears Forever to remind In their hearts
For a heartless hunter Rose his gun that day And his victim was This wolf his pack Sings about everyday The man took his body away The pack howls As one In sorrow In pain They shall forever Remember the wolf That fell that One fateful winter day.

"A Cruel End" Sloane Jensen / Age 16 The plane dives down... ...wolves flee in terror.
Gunshots sound again and again... ...bullets tear through flesh and bone.
Wolves cry out with fear and pain... ...as they lay dying in the snow.
Their cries soon cease... ...one by one they breathe their last.
Never again will they run and play... ...never again will they howl and hunt.
Their lives were taken to please a man... ...as he killed them from his airplane.
The wolves had done no wrong... ...they lived so far away.
They roamed the tundra... ...playing their part in nature, just as God intended.
Now they are gone...never to come back... ...hundreds of wolves...have been killed like this...

"Dying Howl"
Victor Platz The wolf so majestic and free the cub so small and full of glee the moon whom is scolded for no reason the hills which are burrowed during winter season The deer so tall and proud the stalkers try not to make a sound the reflection of the moon on the undisturbed lake upon which no animal dare make waves wake The fading of the proud loud howl of which once filled the lands to which the critters once bowed down to the small five wolf bands And now I say we take a stand` for the wolves which once ruled these lands.

A North American myth tells of a spirit that tried to give all animals human traits. The spirit succeeded in only one way: It gave the gaze of a human being to the Wolf.

What is man without beasts? If all beast were gone, Men would die from great loneliness of spirit, For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected. -Chief Seattle

I hope ya'll like this, it's my first attempt at writing poetry ODE TO THE WOLF Kiba-the-wolf009
The Wolf Will Never Fade Away Like Flowers, They’re Here To Stay They’re Golden Eye Will Shine Bright Even In the Darkest Night
They Howl and Run With They’re pack Never Stopping Once to Look Back They Run Free, and Fast on the Hunt Only Concerned About the Wolf in Front
Through the Air, A Wolf’s Howl Does Ring Can You Hear Them Joyously Sing? The Spirit of the Wolf Will Never Die Nor Will the Fiery Gaze of They’re Eye

Amber Eyes Rebecca Dupuis
With amber eyes he watches. Over his pack, his family. Strong together as they hunt for survival.
With angry eyes he sees. Fences across land, men with guns, and a thrill. He only kills to survive.
With sad eyes he looks. At sharp traps, the soft furs of his pups. They didn't run to survive.
So he asks, why did he survive?
