A beam of sunlight from above,
Dancing, ribbonlike, teasing my vision,
Bliss without chains,
A teasing swoop through the chatter of birds,
Pausing to alight in the branches,
Golden and free,
Filling my ears with the sweet scents of autumn,
Repeating a long-lost melody in my mind,
A candle in the dark.
The ending comes, quite soon enough,
But there's always a beginning-
Like the dawn and dusk,
Playful but always there,
Just dodging my periphery,
Like a bird lost in clouds,
There, yet never seen,
Until the cloud fades again,
And the violet, fiery sunset
Smiles through the stars.
