I thought it would be fun to have a little intro thread so we can get to know one another a little more beyond ZOMG OTHER CRAZY WRITERLY PEOPLE. heart I'll start!

I'm 24 years old. I graduated from college last May with a degree in New Media. (I started out as an English major, but didn't really enjoy it.) I still want to be a writer though. SOMEHOW!

I love reading fantasy and young adult novels. Some of my favorite authors are Robin Hobb, Holly Black, and Francesca Lia Block (though not so much her newer stuff.) Right now I'm reading the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I'm also a big fan of music. I mostly listen to metal-ish and electronic-ish stuff. Some of my favorite bands/artists... ThouShaltNot, Emilie Autumn, Abney Park, Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Angelspit, Pendulum, Wintersun, Nightwish, Within Temptation. I can't write while listening to music though. xd Maybe I should find more instrumental music?

Okay, your turn! 4laugh

Ah, so exciting.

I'm a highschool student, though I have mediocre writing skills, I do enjoy writing. I enjoy the genre of satire, but I also read/do some fantasy.

I'd like to say I'm sort of a slightly semi-successful musician? Definitely more successful then any other person at my school who claims to be a musician. An anti-folk artist who plays multiple stringed instruments and usually plays at local shows.

I hope to go to school for animation (but getting a record deal or getting published would be pretty nice too). Aaaand, I've acquired the name "Indie Song" given to me by my fellow drumsectioners.

I'm a high school student as well, not quite eighteen yet (*shakes fist*) but I'm getting there! Uh. I plan to go to Oregon State or University of Oregon for Natural Resources, and I plan to write the heck out of college.

This is my first possibly successful NaNo, and the only one where I've even made it this far, so go me! I hope one day to get published, but my major dreams lay in helping/protecting the environment, educating people about it, and doing kickass Going Green things (and not the lame ones that actually hurt the environment more. Good job breaking it, hero!). Also, someday I plan to go to Dubai because it is a crazy, crazy place.

I mine as well add my two cents here. :U

At the age of 15, I'm also a highschool student. I tend to read more than write, but I wanted to present myself with some sort of challenge, and NaNoWriMo provided a great one. (>.> Understatement.)

I read fantasy/fiction, and generally manga. Non-fiction couldn't bore me more, and I don't care much for anything historical. The Pendragon series is probably my favorite. I'll be pretty darn sad when I finish the last book. ;w ;

As for music, I like emo/alternative stuff, along with some different kinds of techno tossed in. :D Then there's random classical stuff I like, and a few songs in just about every genre except rap or country. Or hip hop and pop.

When I'm not digging my way out of a pile of homework, writing, or reading, I'm usually wasting away on the computer, sitting in my room listening to music, or in the kitchen. I bake. A lot. @__@

Lastly, I don't know what I'm going to do with my life. I'm only a sophomore though, so I've got some time to figure out if anything interests me.

Oh, and, I'm not usually serious. At all. I like having fun, although I can be pretty sarcastic. So I hope that doesn't bother you. xD

I'm a sophomore in college at the wonderful Sonoma State University in California, where I am a theatre major because I'm just cool like that. This is my third NaNo, and hopefully my third successful NaNo, all in the fantasy genre. Cause I'm a crazeh fantasy person 8D It's also what I primarily read, and I named my dog Magic because I am that much of a fantasy junkie. Yup.

Ello my fellow peoples. I'm 17 years old right now, and I turn 18 in April. I am in grade 12 and will be graduating with 36 credits....so doing th math, that turned out to be 12 more than I needed it to be. So this beong, I've taken just about every subject except for the mechanis and blah blach blah. I live in Saskatchewan, so that means I am from Canada and I hate saying eh!

As of right now I work at a coffee shop and when graduate from school I plan oin being a medical doctor in the Canadian Forces.

I love most kind of music except folk and county. /I hate listening to Taylor Swift. I listen to a lot of Christian music and instrumental music. I have a lot of anime soundtracks and Japanese music as well that I listen to...I can sort of speak Japanese as well.

I really don't pay attention to names of many authors, I just go hey the back looks goos, let's go with that. So in otherwords, I really enjoy Harry Potter, Key's to the Kingdom, City of Bones series..... House of Night was ok....until it just lost my interest.

I have completed Nanowrimo once, that was last year, and /I'm doing twice as better this time. After November, I will have written five novels.

I am officially the youngest one here at a wimpy thirteen > w> As you might have guessed, I am SO done with junior high where "freedom" is the equivalent of "we're going to choose your elective classes, where you sit at lunch, and whether you're allowed to be in a club or not." Joy.

In addition, my eighth grade teachers have FINALLY started regularizing homework over the weekends and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Obviously I'm a writer; I write, roleplay, read, draw a little, and the only sport I'm remotely good at is Tae Kwon-Do. I have certain plans that will enable me to visit Japan for six weeks in the summer before junior year, and ohmigawd, I'm an ex-weeaboo. (You can run away screaming now.) On that note I also love anime, manga, and Japanese culture, particularly the mythology, though Greek myths are also a favorite.

I don't play any musical instruments; I have absolutely no musical talents. I used to take piano lessons, but like I said, I have no talent for it. I'm on my school's Battle of the Books team because I'm just that awesome. I co-own a homemade dog treat business that gives me shitloads of money for shitloads of work. I'm a smart kid, book-smart, that is, if my grades prove anything. I'm also (surprise) an internet junkie. Because I'm just that great.

My favorite genres to read (and write) are fantasy and adventure and historical... actually I'll read pretty much anything interesting... even nonfiction. (I tend to gravitate to the above, though, as well as realistic fiction, for some reason, though I hate writing it.)

At the moment, I'm in the middle of writing the rough draft of a would-be controversial essay in the point of view of Old Man Warner from Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery;" I'm trying to think up a new approach to the mock trial in which I, as a lawyer, must successfully persecute three British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre; I'm postponing a five-sentence introduction for a penpal feature in my Spanish class; and I'm cursing myself for the fact that I won't be able to write my NaNo at all today.

By the way, this is my first NaNo and I'm in love with the madness.

(tl;dr lol)

Well much like Binary, I'm 24 crying although shamefully have not attended college. Almost went twice but complications arose.

There's not much interesting to say about me really, in my own opinion anyway. I love reading, writing, drawing, gaming, and video editing..Also anime obviously.

However, I don't read enough so please feel free to give me suggestions to pick up down the line.

As for music I'll listen to almost anything except most rap and country (Some are okay.)

I'm 21 years old, senior at a university. I'm majoring in Psychology, minoring in Theatre. Hope to go into social work, but I'm taking a year off before scary-a** grad school. Love writing. I actually took 3rd place in the English Dept. Poetry contest last year (beating out quite a few actual English majors, teehee, boyfriend included XD).

I've gotta agree with binaryfaerie: "I love reading fantasy and young adult novels." I also love "psychology" novels for lack of a better term. I.E. Perks of Being a Wallflower, It's Kind of a Funny Story, etc.

Music. Hmm. I love various styles of rock, Broadway, and a tiny bit of country. Recently been on a Beatles/covers kick, which has actually helped me get a ton of writing done.

NaNo is a bit of a stretch for me. I usually don't have the patience for longer prose, but I figured since I was able to write a short play this summer, and since I'm in a short story class that requires me to get writing done twice a week anyway, I'd give it a shot. LOVING it so far, too, though I hope next year I plan it a lot better XD.

I'm 22 years old and a university drop-out who works full-time in a deli department while saving up to get a real education somewhere else. I use writing as a stress outlet instead of paying $50/hr for the unhelpful silence of a therapist, and I've been writing since I was about 8 years old.

For music, my preferences span the entire board. As general favorites, I enjoy vocal instrumental and epic choir from the likes of Two Steps From Hell, Immediate Music, X-Ray Dog, and a variety of other trailer music production companies for cinema and film. I also enjoy rock music of all sorts, and have a secondary obsession with disney and slutty club music. Music will always be on in the background when I write; it helps me concentrate and flesh out the appropriate moods depending on the requirements of the scenes in my stories.

Oddly enough, I do very little to no reading. If I do read, it's from textbooks for research to put towards my own writing. I find that I inherently adapt the writing styles of other authors if I read their work for too long, so I use that as an excuse to explain why I have no desire to read fiction anymore.

This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm not having a good time. I get bored of my own work far too easily.

Hello! I'm Delegara ^.^ I'm 17, turning 18 years old, and I'm currently in my last year of High School. So much fun! I currently work at a Convenience store, where I do not earn enough money to pay my school fees, eat and get new clothes, since I'm growing out of most of my clothes >.> Also, in case anyone hasn't noticed, I'm Canadian ^.^

I've been writing since I can remember, and lots of my elementary school year was done doing Collabs with my friends. We'd each write one novel in a series, and go to our friends for advice on what our character would say. Who ever wrote the novel, usually had their character as the main one, so it was really interesting to read what we each came up with, or lack there of.

As for music, I love many different Genre's, since I dance, and different Genre's provide me with different mood outlets. My favourite bands/ artists are Paramore, Marinas Trench, Three Days Grace, Skillet, SuperChick, Billy Talent and Vienna Teng. Just because I like the band, doesn't mean I listen to all of their music.

I read quite a bit. I've read through the entire Maximum Ride series three times, and am itching to read through them again, when I have enough time. Another of my favourite series is The Immortal Series, and The Evermore series, mainly for the fact that they're about super humans and such, and have a love part in them that I know will most likely never happen for me. I've also, in case anyone is wondering, read through the Twilight series, corrected her grammatical and spelling errors in a red pen, and criticized her work thoroughly. Sorry to anyone who perhaps liked the series. I'm also currently making a spoof on it, called Team Rocket. Yes, its Pokemon Twilight version, but without vampires that sparkle.

For my novels, I usually take something that I've read, a theme, an idea, just something that I've liked from reading or seeing somewhere in the world. My characters, are somewhat based off of real people. I'd never tell them though, because if I did, then they'd really see it XD

This is my first year doing NaNo, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it! I'm so proud of myself for keeping on a story this long, and making it this far. Usually, I get tired of a story after a while, and really want to either drop it, or end it. This time though, I'm kinda wondering what's going to happen next, since I'm writing from my head. Though, I am trying my hardest to keep it in a chronological order. But! I'm really proud of it, and can't wait to see how it ends biggrin I really hope Adam and Rachelle hook up >.> I mean what?

Hey, y'all! I'm Cathartic Denouement -- CD, Cath, Cathartic, whatever. I'll answer to about anything. I'm a Southerner, and yes, I really do use words like y'all (second person plural pronoun), y'anto (would you like to; spelling variable), and d'jeet (have you eaten). I do not, however, speak fluent Alabamian yet, a running joke between me and my friends. (But, hey, being from Arkansas originally, my native tongue is Arkansan, so it's forgivable.) One of my biggest pet peeves is when people misspell "y'all." It is a contraction of you and all, so the apostrophe should go after the Y, not before the two Ls.

My birthday is November 19, 1991. Do the math for my age -- that way this post won't be out of date, haha.

I'm an English education major at Auburn University and a proud member of the AUMB (and, subsequently, a proud member of Sigma Alpha Chi, the Auburn brotherhood of the alto sax). and I wouldn't trade my life here for anything in the world. War Damn Eagle; War Damn Band; War Damn ΣΑΧ.

This is my fourth year doing NaNo, but my original idea fell through, my second idea just didn't grab me, and now NaNo is half-over, so I'm just going to go back and work on last year's failed attempt. (I only made it to about 7,000 words on it, so it's not like I'm majorly cheating at this point.) I have yet to successfully finish NaNo -- the closest I've come was 42k in 2007, and it's gone downhill from there. (In 2008, I did manage to actually finish the story, just not meet the 50k. Going back and editing, though, I'm pretty sure I can flesh it out and make it at least 50k if not more. It needs a looooot of work.) Hopefully one of these days I'll be successful.

And I think that's about all you need to know.

            Happy noveling!
