Ooooo, the plot thickens! That's seriously the line that popped into my head at the end of this episode. Cheesy though it may be, it goes along with what we saw. This season just keeps getting more and more cryptic without revealing much of anything. How frustrating. I want the answers to so many mysteries now, including why Kate has become the only character in the show to call Henry by a nickname, "Hank".

This season is also sending me signals that I need a better TV, or possibly a better cable connection. My picture is a bit grainy, so I'm writing these reviews based on what little I can see of dark environments. There were a lot of those in this episode and it made me sad that I couldn't see them very well. Brighter places work fine, like the interior of the Sanctuary or anywhere lit by city light, but the caves Tesla was trapped in were almost invisible. I wanted to see more epic CGI, darn it!

Speaking of Tesla, he may have lost his full vampiric powers, but now that just means he comes across as a younger, much more lighthearted Magneto, if that makes any sense at all. He's magnetic, he wants power, he thinks his powers make him exceptional and superior to other humans and so on. He just happens to be more or less an ally. Still, that doesn't mean Helen won't put him in his real place whenever he steps too far over the line.

On the other side of the episode, I was really glad to see some of Bigfoot's backstory, even if it was just a snapshot. In the original web series, Helen introduces Bigfoot as a former patient who refused to leave after she removed "several bullets from his body." And there we have the scene where he's just been shot, though he's wearing clothes that fit already. I'm sure we all wondered how it was he came to know about the sanctuary network and now there it is. Thank you, writers.

And now the conclusion: What the hell is going on around here?! First we have the ancient deities of some form appear, then the presumed ghost of Helen's father, Steampunkland and now this random hooded guy who can give someone a heart attack by looming over them. It seems the writers don't know the meaning of "this is too much." How many threads can they hang in front of us and pull away at the same time? It's bordering on ridiculous. It was bad enough that they got rid of the Cabal after season 1. Now I think they're grasping at straws. Let's hope I'm wrong.
