I am a sinner... "1 John 1:8"

What version of the bible do you prefer to use? when you are reading the word do you mark in your bible or in a notebook to write the scriptures that catch your attention? What book of the bible are you currently reading through or what was the last book you read through?

I prefer to use a NIV bible and I use a dry highlighter to mark the pages of things that really stick out so I can go back and reference them later. I'm currently reading through psalms and then I'll see where the spirit leads me next.

I am also starting a study through Psalms.
It's one of my favorites.

I read the NKJ version and it's large print.
I highlight the verses then I write them down in my notebook, I also write down what I think about the verses.

Mm...I don't remember what the book is called that I'm reading, but it's in the New Testament, and I think it was one of the letters that Paul wrote. Somewhere after first and second Corinthians. I've been reading the books of the New Testament in order, though I might go back and start reading a little out of the Old Testament.

I'm not sure what version my Bible is, I think it's an NIV, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check. I do like the King James version as well, though it's a little hard for me to understand sometimes.

I like highlighting verses that are important to me with a highlighter (though I need to get a new one 'cause the one I have is leaking through the pages). I'm thinking of starting a notebook though as well, to start writing my thoughts/feelings on verses that speak to me.

I just found this today. It's a touch screen PDA bible. It's got the whole bible for you to read or listen to. It has MANY capabilities that will help people. It even has a quiz section and it's MP3 capable to put songs on as well as it has a slot for a mini sd card up to 8gb!

I know, I know with all the new fangled phones out there why not get a phone with a bible app? Well I don't have the kind of cell phone carrier that has apps like that. And I can't afford a different kind of phone carrier so yea... I thought it was a REALLY amazing thing and I really want one now! Hopefully I'll have enough money saved by February so that I can get if for my birthday.

I have a KJV with Red Letters [The DC Talk song "Red Letters" inspired me to get a red lettered bible, and I could only find it in KJV...anyone know if there are other translation with red letters?]...I have a Thompson Chain Reference Bible in NIV...I have a Children's Bible and a Teen Bible that are both NIV.

I think I'm just so familiar with NIV that it seems like the best translation. KJV is fun for the fancy words and stuff, but not good for study purposes. I've heard that NLT is the new "IT" translation, but I haven't checked it out yet.

I used to highlight with highlighters or underline with pens/pencils. A couple years ago I went to a CBD [Christian Book Distributors] warehouse sale, and found some awesome dry highlighters [they're a bit like crayons] and now I don't use anything else, they're just perfect!

I think if you go to a christian book store you will find a bible with red letters in different translations. I use an NIV bible because it's the easiest for me to understand though I want a NASB bible as well.

I do NOT like NLT bibles. I think the translation is too dumbed down and to me it seemed like the potency of the words were just lost. I use an NLT for a bible study I go to on Monday nights and I always re-read it when I get home in my bible I use.

I love dry bible highliters! I use a pink one right now and the next one I'll use will be green! I would love to go to a CBD warehouse sale I absolutely love their website and actually my whole Christmas wishlist is a Christianbook.com giftcard lol

My grandma forced me to get the NKJ Bible.
she said it was the only one that is right or something.
I would love to have something a bit simpler though.

NASB and NIV are 2 bibles that I would say are simple. KJV and NKJV are what most old school people use. My church uses NASB, I use NIV. I reference between the bibles that I do have at times to see if it is said a different way that I can understand more easily.

I've seen many scriptures quoted out of "The Living Bible" and it seems easy to read as well.

Since I am used to the NIV Bible, I use that. Although, I make sure to keep out a KJV and a Strong's Concordance so that I can also look up what I'm reading and see what words truly mean in their original context to gain a better understanding and make sure to write down anything I don't understand fully and ask someone about it and look it up and see what it means.

I have been meaning to write scriptures that catch my attention. I get so caught up in reading, though, that I sometimes forget, but know that I can always go back to it if I want to mark it down.

The last book in the Bible I finished was Ruth and now I'm a little ways into 1 Samuel smile Although, some days I switch from reading a little bit in the Old Testament and then read a little bit in the New.

I think it's best to look at many different versions to gain a true understanding. I like the King James Version because it's word choices may have been closely translated to the original languages even though it's a bit harder to understand. I also like the New International Version because it can dumb things down a bit for me when I don't quite understand and I sometimes read both versions at once and keep out the Strong's Concordance just in case I am unsure of something. I also have other study books to help me understand historical context and possible geography of those times to help aid in my understanding of the word.

I like writing down verses - especially ones I don't quite understand and want to research more thoroughly smile

God is my strength... "Psalms 28:7"

within the last 7 months or so I have been reading from a Holman Christian Standard Bible. The bible specifically I am using is an Apologetics study bible for students. I have learned a lot from this one.

I've been volunteering at a soup kitchen since the beginning of the year and the Pastor who over sees it does a bible study every morning. He uses the HCSB and so following along in my NIV was hard and I decided to buy the one I have now. I have learned a lot and the foot notes help me so much because it puts things in a more understandable way with a back story or clarification.
