Hi guys. Thought I'd make a nice little list of game previews and trailers for the much anticipated RPGs that are on their way to the public. Feel free to link some stuff and I'll edit it into this thread... to get a nice comprehensive list going.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

Final Fantasy XII

Grandia III

Valkyrie Profile

Coming Soon: Grandia 3.

I just hope to God that Square doesn't manage to ******** up Game Arts's masterpiece. Compared to Game Arts, Square's a bumbling bunch of rejects at making RPGs. But it certainly is looking really great, and already right off the bat breaking new ground in RPGs by including the protagonist's mom as a major playable character.

(Does anyone CARE about the series besides me? Maybe not...but I'll make that change)

I only played Grandia 1. My best friend played Grandia 1 and 2 but he says Grandia 1 is the best one by a long shot (and I trust on his opinion, Grandia 1 was GODLY). I really am expecting Grandia 3 to be sort of a return to the origins.

I played Grandia II on the DC, and while the game was a notch above average I really didn't find it to be anything worth getting worked up about (of course, I'm very hard to impress). The experience I had will get the new game a look, but given that it is a Square project I'll be going in with a skeptical eye. They lost my trust after the horrid abomination that men call FFVIII.

Try playing Grandia (the first one), you will probably find yourself more entertained than with Grandia II. The characters are really lively in Grandia

EDIT:
Oh yah, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth's Trailer
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth Trailer
I dont have any details on the game itself though. I was never too much into VP probably because I never finished it.

I dunno, Vince, I've played both, and while 1 is an exquisite masterpiece of RPG art, 2 blows it (and 98% of all other RPGs) out of the water so fast it's hard to even compare them in my opinion.

I only played the first Grandia, (which I proudly own) and to this day remains one of m favorite RPGs.

I'm currently in the process of acquiring Vagrant Story. Is it good?

Valkyrie Profile looks pretty... I want it now. Damn you!

Say, do any of you guys know if Drag-on Dragoon ever came out in the states? If not, I suppose I'll have to just import it. ><; But I do enjoy completely understanding what the hell's going on in a game--not just partially.

Vagrant Story is hated by some people (like me) but I have friends who truly love it. I dont really like the huge dungeon crawl and I hate the design. But the battle system is rather interesting, think of it as a medieval version of Parasite Eve and you have an idea.

I'd say Vagrant Story is pretty good. It's definitely an acquired taste, mind--it does away with the retarded anime-cliche of starring only beautiful characters, you can be ROYALLY screwed over by the class system if you promote people the wrong way, and battles are long, tough, and a little like a simplified version of FFT. It's got a very good sense of gritty realism that few RPGs have, portraying people in times of war and battle and change with unpleasant realism. The plot and characters are good, though, so I say go for it; you'll probably enjoy it.

EDIT: Dammit, I feel stupid, I was talking about VANDAL HEARTS, not Vagrant Story. I ALWAYS get those two mixed up.

Be sure to play the game when you've got hours upon hours of spare time. The battles are slow as molasses and story sequences take forever and a day to finish as there's a lot of dialogue to sift through. Normally, that wouldn't be such a bad thing unless you're trying to get one battle in before you head to work/school and the game won't let you save your progress due to so much text to work with.

But, as has been said, the game is good. Just don't expect to be able to speed through it. Ever.

Is there any way to do more than 1 damage to bosses? I got stuck at a boss battle because I just wasn't doing any damage whatsoever.

XD Maybe you are attacking too fast. I remember this from long ago when I played, the faster you attack the weaker your attacks grow. You gotta attack and wait sometime until you attack again.

Yeah, Risk is a pain in the a** at times. I'd wager your best bet is to experiment with different attack combinations. For example, when fighting ordinary monsters for...hmm, let's say you want to make your current weapon more effective against whatever type the boss is, using Paralysis Pulse and whatever the Silencing attack is on every monster in the room will effectively make the enemy completely helpless, allowing you to just one-hit them repeatedly, keeping your risk low and thus more manageable. I'd recommend it for bosses, too, but chances are they're all resistant.

Of course, if that doesn't work, just break out a different weapon and hope it's attributes are good against whatever giant freak is currently bashing your face into the floor. And keep the chains low unless you've got an attack that deals damage based on your health, and you're certain the damage will be worth the high Risk.

Edit: Of course, Vera items are your friiieeeeennndddsss...

Or, better yet, I could un-hijack the thread now. sweatdrop

Yeah. I remember that being a major issue during my (incomplete) run through Vagrant Story. Damn golem.
