I've never seen the first one aside from one of the endings as there seemed to be multiple endings. But I decided since I had to kill some time while waiting to visit a friend, I went to go see this sequel.
The entire time I was waiting for moments to laugh and make fun of the movie, but that moment never came as I found the movie to be very cleverly done and keep you on the edge of your seat. But the basic gist of the story is that there's this family that moves into a big house (no surprise there) and weird paranormal crap starts happening (again, typical ghost story scenario) and after about a week of moving in they come home to suddenly find their entire house trashed but with nothing stolen and no sign of a break in. Bewildered by the trashed house and no stolen items they decided to install a security system and the movie's point of view of anything going on is 90% through the eyes of the camera's set up in most of the rooms (the kitchen, baby's room, living room, front door, and pool area).
The acting was a lot more fluid in this movie and everything is suggestive without showing any apparitions aside from ONE scene that shows a shadow type of apparition. But yeah that's about the gist of the movie. Out of all the ghost movies I've seen, it definitely had me jump a few times especially during the scene when the mother is sitting in the kitchen during the day and she suddenly looks behind her like something is there and then all the sudden all the cabinets in the kitchen EXPLODE open. i didn't scream, but dear god I jumped xD All in all, definitely worth seeing at least once. I very much liked this.
On a letter rating from A-F I give this movie a B+.
Horrorize Me, Cap'n!
Take all the innocent things you've ever loved, and make them HORROR!
