I'm a very indecisive person.
I have yet to have my first tattoo...but want it sooooo bad. The problem...I can't decide on a first one.
For years now, I've been going over multiple ideas for my first one. Something small, but meaningful, that can give me an idea of my pain threshold with tattoos as well. But I've been having little luck.
For a while I was planning to get a fairy portrait my friend drew up for me on my outer right thigh, but it will be pretty large...and expensive. >__<;
So...recently I've been thinking of another idea for a smaller one.
Now I've been debating on parts of lyrics from a song that means a lot to me. But the only spot I can thinking of getting them, where they will look the best, is on my side. Which will hurt.
Anywho...you see my problem. sweatdrop
Any suggestions?

Also, others feel free to rant and get advice on your own indecisiveness. 3nodding

Go with something you love or enjoy?
I got my name spelled out in Egyptian Hieroglyphs. I recently came to terms with my name and started to embrace it and love it and I absolutely love all things Egyptian. I've read and watched things about Ancient Egypt for years and it's all stuck with me and I just can't get enough of it. So I wanted something to represent my love for it.

Go for a meaty area.
It'll hurt, it's dozens of needles going into at once over and over and over, but in a meaty area it will be much more tolerable. I got mine on my inner forearm. It felt like someone thumping me and in a few spots a pinch. Overall, it was pretty good. It wasn't really painful but I was aware of it all and I did feel it.
I can tell you right now, ribs and close to armpit hurt quite a bit. My father has tattoos in both spots and he said he barely made it through the ribs because it hurt so bad. For the one near his armpit, he said he could feel the pain in his toes. I watched his face contort in a LOT of spots too. So for the first, I'd stay away from those spots.

Well yeah, I figured that much...that's why I was thinking my side...it would be lower then my ribs in the spot I'm thinking, though that is still a sensitive spot to get it done.

If you plan on having kids I would wait.
When you get pregnant the belly gets stretched and if you've got a tattoo there it will get stretched as well. Your tattoo will get distorted a bit and never look anywhere as good as it was pre-pregnancy. And sometimes stretch marks can run through the tattoo as well.

Well, yeah.
But I doubt I'll have kids. And if I ever did, its a long ways in my future.

Or there any other spots that you think may look good? I'm trying to avoid arms. And was debating on my calf or something...I dunno.

My first tattoo will probably be a magpie on the back of my shoulder, so it will be medium sized, but I've got about six or seven back-up ideas if it seems too much for me.
But what I've started doing is writing down and drawing/finding pictures of the tattoos I want so I can easily see how big they will be. and it also helps so I don't forget how I want them to look!

You could try that with any ideas you have, and it may help you pick out one of the smaller ones you may want for your first? 3nodding

Eep! Me too. 4laugh
I'm planning on getting two or three tattoos to go with my love of Ancient Egypt.
