Is Gaia to racy for the younger crowd? Pre-teens and young teens.
  No.
  Yes.
If it's okay with their parents...
It should be their parents job to moniter them not Gaia's.
With all that's on the internet nowadays Gaia is rated G!
There is too much censorship in the world already.

There hasn't been much activity in our guild lately so I thought I would post a provocative question to see if we could liven it up around here a little bit.

First of I want to say, this is NOT a rant topic. Personally I am rather unbiased about the topic. I am just curious as to what the rest of you think about it.
Second I am not stating opinion, so don't try to say I am wrong. I am stating facts. I am not saying this should be an "adult" site. I am not saying they should ban anything sexual or people under 18. I am not stating my opinion, I want to know yours.
Third If people actually post in here, don't get nasty. Agree to disagree.

Well, we all know how many young kids are on here especially 12 and 13 year olds (and younger). I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be any limits on Gaia. I saw a post in CB the other day about a**l sex. They weren't having cyber sex but were talking about what it was like in real life. Most of the people in there were over 18 but a 12 yr old is able to read all that. And also there are many more sexual related topics. (spanking, S&M, tap this?, etc) Should there be tighter monitoring? The rules state:

#8 No Cybering: Soliciting or engaging in cybersex (exchanging descriptions of sexual experiences) or mature content role play is not allowed on Gaia Online. Making sexually suggestive or explicit posts can result in them being removed, and action being taken against your account.

But obviously that isn't enforced. I don't know how many of you have noticed how racy some of Gaia's own stuff is. E. G. with the costumes of the NPC and one of the ghosts in Grave Danger died from suffocation from one of his "sexual entanglements".
So what is your opinion? Is it a problem? Is it acceptable in today's society? Or is it just not your problem?

I hope this topic is not removed since it is not about sex per say but about the appropriateness of it in Gaia.

I believe it's because most people fail to report stuff like that. Otherwise, it's understood that 13 yr olds are mature enough to handle certain things...

But I just don't think it's brought to attention as much as it should be

I think it needs to be brought more attention to before someone's parent decides to look at what's on Gaia, gets offended, and sends in a big complaint.

I honestly have not seen anything as racy on Gaia (I've been on here three years, so idk, must not be looking in the right places; not that I care to look), but as far as rally goes...I'm not getting started.

It's fine that we have people younger than 18, but you need to remember you also have members in their twenties who just assume people their age are going to read their posts.

It's nothing about anybody being mature, it's just that you need to realize what you're actually saying and who might actually read it and yes, Gaia does need to tighten the censorship, but enough that the younger ones don't get into any of the casual conversations of the older ones.

Personally, it's my opinion that if you let your kids have free reign on the net and don't check out the sites you let them visit, then you're just going to have to deal with a rather more "savvy" child than, say, the kid next door who is only allowed on the internet with Parental Controls.

There are plenty of websites that are somewhat similar to Gaia but aimed specifically and only at the preteen/young teen age group.

Also, GaiaOnline defaults the censorship setting to block out naughty words, and they have a Terms & Conditions page. They've covered their bases.

I agree. If the players fail to report anything offensive, vulgar, or obscene then it goes unnoticed. Unless a moderator comes along and sees that stuff. But other than that, from what former gaians and older gaians told me, that there are not enough moderators to check every little detail of what someone posts in a public forum.
This is just my view.

The only thing that I have a problem with is pictures. I've seen photos of a topless girl giving a guy a b*****b. And they posted several pictures like this. I'm learning for myself where to stay away from. Other than racy (I think pornagraphic) photos, I have no real issue with what's on here.
This could also be a sign that, especially in regards to sex, that parents aren't talking about it and so if they have questions, they come to Gaia instead.
