It's that time of the year again! The time where skilled and not-as-skilled-but-still-skilled (I made no sense right there, but just roll with it, okay? scream ) gather to write a 50k word story (which I classify as more of a novella, but eh.). That's right, National Novel Writing Month!

I thought I'd make a sticky for discussion here. The inactivity kinda bothered me enough to make me put down my DS for a minute. That, and NaNoWriMo-- I'm kind of off topic.

Anyway, this thread is for discussing all things NaNoWriMo. I'm sure it's a fairly wide(?) topic range, too, so... Yeah. Also, by all means feel free to include a link to your NaNo! heart

My NaNo: xFallenMisery (I'm so original)

~I'm not exactly sure where this would go, sooo...~

I really want to participate this year, but I don't see that happening...

I'm about 8,086 words in acording to my Corel program (wait, is my unemployed showing?!). I haven't uploaded onto the site yet, but I will try to do that today. I will try to upload my page to, but I'm not sure how just yet... sweatdrop

How do you write so fast. scream I only have 4,777 words in (according to Google Docs)

Or is it that I'm impossibly slow?

It's easy for me--being unemployed and all. I've also learned to type which may be a factor. I used the old Mavis Beacon program, though I only played the games because feeding the chameleon and evading the shark (though I've never escaped being eaten) were much more fun than the coursework. I was home-schooled, so I had plenty of time to learn.

I'd be further than I am, but I read two books over the weekend and most of Monday (I read Shutter Island [the book, not the manga] and I listened to Room [though the kid's voice is stuck in my head now and I reread my sentences in his voice which makes things sound wrong and drives me insane scream ]). I was only supposed to take Saturday off (I did work some Friday, but not very hard, and I didn't work Sunday at all). If I do my work, then this weekend I'll take Saturday and Sunday off--only. I've been cheating too because, after I get ahead of the word quota a good ways each day, I edit a little. Just a little, though. I mean, trust me, it still sucks--but that is still technically cheating.

I don't know how to add my page to this site yet, but I buddied you. I'm considering signing up to write a screenplay in April too. But I don't know anything about screenplays (like I know anything about writing novels either). Yet, I have plenty of ideas anyways, so... why not?

I got writer's block and now I'm barely chugging along. I'm still making my count, but just barely. What to do, what to do, what to do. And it's strange because I know what I'm supposed to write, I just can't figure out how. Plus, my story is fragmented into different pieces needing bridges to bridge them. I'm just all out of legos. Man, this sucks!

Color me impressed, you did 50k last year? I barely got bast 6k before I got side tracked...

I'm currently writing fan fiction to get back into writing shape for this year. It's one I really enjoy reading and writing, but I guess it's only fanfiction in that Pokémon are involved and it takes place in Kanto exactly half the time. xp (By the way, while I'm thinking about it, would fan fiction with chapters just go under the 'Novels' forum because it has multiple chapters, or is fan fiction not allowed here?)

I kind of scrapped the version of the story I had entered in NaNo last year and am going to rewrite it for this year. Again, I'm giving myself a head start, but... less extreme. xD Last year I had a head start of like 5k words because there was no way I was going to write a clean 50k in NaNo. (It still didn't happen, I couldn't find the time to write 1000 words per day. I typically write 500 words in one sitting, tops. But I've learned some useful strategies from 7th grade that I plan on carrying to 8th grade... And also I should probably get a new binder. I have LOADS of composition books that my classes will probably not use, so I'm going to print out what I have on November 1st and paste it into the cover of my journal so i can write anywhere, since I usually get home from school at 4:00 and have to get off a little bit after dinner, which is at 6:30 - 7:00, depending.)

Yeah! Go ahead and put your fanfiction in novels... I'd love to read it!
