I have been taking advantage of my library, and ordered a TON of craft books from other schools. I have only found I few that I thought, 'Well might as well send that back because I really need to own it'. One was Think Outside the Sox by Elaine Rowley, because it has patterns for socks that really creative. Another Power Cables: The Ultimate Guide to Knitting Inventive Cables because Lily Chan explains how to do all sorts of awesome cables plus there are some really cool patterns. The last one that I can really rave about that I have gotten recently is Knitting Mochimochi because I love the fact that I can knit a couch. Please post your faves!

My hands down favorite book is Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls by Martha Waterman. It has a brief history on different types of knitted lace, how design your own patterns, and then a few patterns in the back to get you started. Another favorite book of mine is actually from the Teach Yourself Visually series, it's the knitting Socks book. It's really helpful, and has allowed me to construct my own basic sock pattern without too much tricky math (math and I do not get along xp ).

The math isn't too bad. The most recent KnitScene magazine had a great article on sock math.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Especially since the math involved in making your own sock pattern tends to kick me in the teeth sweatdrop Though to be fair all these years spent knitting has made it at least slightly easier to understand, heh.

Yeah. I also recommend the 2-at-a-Time series from Morgan Oakes. Never suffer from second sock syndrome again! xd

I have the first one. It's definitely a good book, but I actually prefer dpns for sock knitting. It seems less fiddly to me. But having said that I make ankle socks, and I think if I were to make anything other than those I would use her two at a time method. 3nodding Have you looked at any of the "Knitting Circles Around Socks" books? I'm curious about those as they teach the two circular method and I don't know that one.

The technique is a little fiddly, but I would rather fiddle than knit socks on dpns. I get bored with socks pretty easily ~shrugs~. I have not looked at the books that you mentioned. I am going to have to check that out. biggrin

The One Skein Wonders books (at least the first two) are really good too.

Domiknitrix is a cute knitting book, although I'm more taken with the title than some of the projects tbh. I did make a sweater from the book though and it turned out rather lovely. =]

I would -love- to get Power Cables. I recently learnt to cable and it fascinates me. o.o I'd love to learn how to design my own. What kind of patterns does it have in it?

My favourite craft magazine is Simply Knitting. It's a UK publication that comes out every month and it has the most patterns out of any of the others, as well as picture tutorials and reviews on new books/yarns.

Power Cables is absolutely lovely! The book is filled mostly with instructions on how to read cable charts and a ton of different cable patterns. I sent it back to the school I borrowed it from because I am going to have to buy the book. There is so much great information! heart

I love Knitting Lingerie Style by Rose McGowan Micheals. The patterns are gorgeous, and I've made a couple that turned out really well.

Another favorite is Creepy Cute Crochet. It makes my not-so-inner nerd squee. I can make a cthulu!
