I am making a thread for this show because it is awesome and deserves it's own thread. Six episodes have aired thus far, and I'm looking forward to the rest.
So, what does everyone else think?

Hehe, I watch it and I enjoy it. IT IS FUN.
Although with last week's episode I was a little pissed because Chin ho said "flip flops" and we here on ze Islands don't say that s**t. We say "slippers" - that was a massive mess up. The actor, Daniel Dae Kim, wrote on his twitter he pushed for "slipper" and they recorded two versions but "flip flops" got the cut because you mainlanders would think of fuzzy house shoes or some crap. Then the very next scene was of some local cuz talkin' all pidgin, making the "flip flop" comment all the weirder.

Red Scully you mainlanders would think of fuzzy house shoes or some crap. Pretty much. Though seeing Danno react to "slippers" (him thinking in mainlander terminology) would have been more hilarious than flip-flops. And what was that word they kept using, Howlies? What's the origin on that one?
Also, Danno's wife has been officially cast, but I don't know who it is because I want it to be a surprise. It's "big" enough to warrant a headline on TVGuide.com though.

Haha, oh boy - "Haole" is a loaded word. It can mean not-local, but most commonly it is just used to mean white person; but it can mean (and is used often enough) as a highly derogative slur for not-local-white-person. It just depends on who is saying it and why.
Ha means "breath ("breath of life" in particular)" in Hawaiian, and 'ole roughly means "no"; so the word in a literal translation is "no breath" which is a reference to how foreign people shake hands rather then honi. Honi is the Hawaiian/Polynesian traditional greeting/kiss of respect where you place your nose against the other persons nose and you both inhale at the same time.
I wish they had time and made a Halloween centric episode - as Halloween here is the biggest night for the HPD. s**t gets CRAZY.
I like not knowing too - but now I'm curious about who is going to be Danno's wife. crying

It just depends on who is saying it and why. Well, I figured as much. That at least makes more sense than the lame explanation for Five-0 a couple episodes back. I guess the term has fallen out of use for police people.Red Scully Honi is the Hawaiian/Polynesian traditional greeting/kiss of respect where you place your nose against the other persons nose and you both inhale at the same time. O.. kay then.Red Scully I wish they had time and made a Halloween centric episode - as Halloween here is the biggest night for the HPD. s**t gets CRAZY. That's a universal invariant. Relatedly, you should track down a show called The Unusuals; it's basically the guys that handle all the "odd" cases in a NY precinct. And by "odd" I mean less aliens and more guys in hotdog suits flashing people.Red Scully I like not knowing too - but now I'm curious about who is going to be Danno's wife. crying There's no reason it would be, but if it turns out to be Molly Sims, I will laugh until I pass out.

Red Scully Ha means "breath ("breath of life" in particular)" in Hawaiian, and 'ole roughly means "no"; so the word in a literal translation is "no breath" which is a reference to how foreign people shake hands rather then honi. Expounding on this, we are also taught "no breath" is also symbolic for "empty words"; "untrustworthy". A person who says one thing and has ulterior motives or is just "making face".
They're airing Hawaii Five-0 here, too! I'm looking forward to watching more episodes. I've seen only one that I watched while I was in Hawaii. : ]

Red Scully I missed a lot of this week's episode. Something with hostages at the Missouri and a little girl. Main Guy was shirtless for a good chunk of it, and we've been introduced to the Governor's Safety Liaison, played by Kelly Hu. Also, Robert Loggia played a tour guide.
Plot-wise, dude is found holding a knife over his dead wife. He runs from the cops, ends up taking hostages on the Missouri and gives the police 4 hours to find her killer or he starts killing hostages. Turns out dude was suffering from PTSD (including blackouts) so everyone thinks he's the killer, except McGarrett since they were both Navy SEALs.
CBS has the episode up for streaming, and it's probably available on your 'local' torrent site.

The thing that I don't exactly like is from one episode I watched and from some of the comments made on here, they take away some cultural things and that annoys me. As well as one of the characters name.
Otherwise, my mom said that the HPD wished they had all the advanced equipment and stuff that they show in the show and that there are so many places that are not connected and yet they make it connected. d:
