Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in Dansho for a while. Uh... stuff, and I completely bombed out on plot for Ninja Skies, so I've been kinda hiding.

But since Halloween is a week away, I figured, why not have a theme and see if anyone wanted to post some one-shots, based on Naruto, Danshoku... or any other manga/anime/comic/video game.

Anything is welcome, so long as it has something to do with Halloween, slashers, monsters... you get the idea, any horror or terror type story. And probably some shonen-ai or yaoi in there, y'know... since we ARE the Village Hidden in the Buttsecks.

It doesn't have to scare our pants off. You can do a quirky scooby-doo-esque mystery! And if you're feeling lyrical instead, write us a Halloween song!

So, Let's get going! And have some fun! I'll make a discussion thread for this too. 3nodding

Ninja Monster Squad

Part One

The twins were in detention…again… and this time, they were sitting in the library while the principal called their parents. The librarian told them to sit down and not move, and thus the two were now looking through the shelves for something interesting at least.

“Where are the comics?” Haru asked as he shoved his hands in his pockets, “This place is boring.”

“Hey look,” Sora said as he picked out an old book from the back row, “Haru, look at this… Jurnal de Van Helsing Avraam

“Say what?” the older twin stared at his brother, “Wait… Van Helsing? As in Dracula?” suddenly interested, he bent down, looking over Sora’s shoulder, “What’s that doing here?”

He shrugged, placing the book in his bag, as the doorknob turned, “Come on,” he took his brother’s hand and both snuck back to their seats before it opened completely letting in the librarian and the principal. “They haven’t made a sound,” she said, “Are you sure that they were the ones…”

He turned to glare at her, and sat down at the table across from the boys, “Since school is about to let out, would the two of you mind explaining what these drawings are?” he laid a few on the table, “And why you were posting them in the girl’s locker room… or even how you were able to get into the girl’s locker room in the first place.”

“See, these are seals warding off bad luck and monsters,” Haru explained, “Since they were so adamant about telling Chi that she has to be a wraith to be as pale as she is, we figured, that they must really be afraid of…”

Sora didn’t hear the rest of the words his brother was saying, instead he was looking at the dark robed man that came in after the principal and was talking to the librarian. She nodded once and was typing in her computer.

“Sabaku!” the principal snapped, and Sora turned his attention, “See this is what I’m talking about, Iruka tells me that the two of you are constantly disrupting his class and not paying attention. You won’t be able to pass the fifth grade if you don’t know how to sit still. Your grades…”

“Last I checked, our grades were fine,” the younger twin retorted, crossing his arms.

Sora’s grades are fine. Haru is in danger of failing literature and history. As such, both of you… since no one can tell you apart, are going to be reporting to a tutor starting tomorrow afternoon.”

He started droning on again, and Sora looked past him to see if the strangely dressed man was still there… he wasn’t, and he turned back to the principal, trying not to look completely bored as the man continued to lecture them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I wouldn’t be failing if Iruka didn’t have us sit on separate sides of the class room. Damnit, I think Mama did tell him which one of us was which,” Haru sighed, “So what’s the plan?”

“The tutor probably won’t be so bad. And if you just did your tests and homework you wouldn‘t need it.” Sora said quietly as he looked through the old book, “This thing’s completely in Romanian, what was it doing in the school library?” he closed it up and looked at his brother, “But all the dates are from a hundred years ago.”

“Thanks for doing that,” a quiet voice said, and both looked behind them to see their small sister Chihiro walking behind them, holding her stuffed bear.

“No wonder they think you’re a ghost,” Haru said ruffling her hair, “For a kindergartener, you’re silent.”

“And it was no problem. Those bullies needed to be taken down a peg… their own fault for pouring the paint on you when we were walking by,” Sora said as he looked her over, “I see it got out alright.”

She nodded, “Miss Kotori helped me,” she said as all three slowed down as they were passing the old broken down house that stood a block away from theirs.

“I think I see a curtain moving…” Haru whispered as he stared at the imposing structure and unkempt yard.

“I see it too,” Sora whispered back, and both twins and Chihiro edged closer to the fence, “I can almost see the face…”

“Daddy says that we shouldn’t judge,” Chihiro said as she leaned against the fence, staring at the house and hugging her bear tighter, “He just could be afraid to come outside.”

“Hello my youthful friends!” Kano shouted as he ran up to meet them and all three jumped, clutching their hearts, “It was inspiring how gallantly you jumped to the defense of…”

“Seriously, who talks like that?” the twins chorused, “Didja get the stuff for the clubhouse?”

“Of course,” he beamed, reaching into his back-pack, “There are…” he walked with the twins down the street and Chihiro glanced back up at the house, her eyes widening as she saw the face in the window.

“Guys!” she said running to catch up with them, “I saw him!”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Can’t we just watch some Bruce Lee movies instead?” Kano asked as he looked at the fliers for the “Double Feature Creature Fest” the twins had in the clubhouse, “All of these movies look…”

“What are you, chicken?” they asked, grinning, “Come on, it’ll be fun. Besides, they‘re old Hammer films. No one‘s ever had a heart attack from those.”

“And they’re stupid,” Saisei said as he opened the trap door and climbed up, “Seriously, what’s so appealing about monsters and demons anyways?”

“You used to,” Haru crossed his arms, “Most of the comics in my collection is from your old…”

“Actually that was Dad’s,” Odin said quietly as he followed his older brother up the ladder, “Shane made Naruto get rid of all of them, because monster’s aren’t real. And it was giving him nightmares.”

“Monsters are real,” Sora said, leafing through the old book, “Besides, what else are we going to do on Halloween? Though Mama‘s taking Chi to go trick-or-treating, we could join them.”

“Aren’t we a little old for that?” Saisei asked as he sat down beside his brother, “Besides, you two idiots will be tricking everyone.

The final member of their club came climbing up then, and Karasu sighed at seeing the others, “We’re not going to be arguing all day are we?”

The six of them had been friends since pre-school, for some reason banding together the first day, when all of them realized that they lived within a few blocks of each other.

Kano and the twins lived next door to each other in fact, both in identical ranch style houses. So when it came time to build the tree house, they chose the place, despite Saisei saying that his backyard was far more suited.

“Yeah, and the neighborhood security in that ritzy neighborhood kicks us out every time,” Haru had pointed out.

“Maybe if you two didn’t act like delinquents all the time,” he snorted.

Odin chewed his lip, “I don’t mind their backyard,” he said quietly, “There’s a lake behind them.”

“It’s a marsh,” Saisei corrected him, “And it could flood any moment.”

Karasu had pinched his nose in exasperation, “Their house is closer to mine. And it’s on the way home from school.”

That had decided it, and ever since then, they met after school, despite their different interests… and even different schools, because there was one thing they all had in common.

Ninjas. Everything about them, from the different jutsu, to the legends of the five countries… they were all six enamored with them. The entire clubhouse was full of posters and comics and even a few old books that Sora had found.

Though the twins had a love for terror and horror that rivaled that of their love for ninjas, and especially as the leaves started to turn and the air turned cold, they seemed to talk more on monsters and ghosts.

A knock came from the trap door and Saisei opened it to see Chihiro standing below with a rock in hand, “Can’t you read?” he asked pointing at the sign which said very clearly in big red letters, “No Girls.”

“Mama says that Haru and Sora have to come down because of what happened at school,” she said, placing her hands on her hips, “Besides, I know just as much about ninjas as you guys.” the twins started down the ladder.

“See you guys tomorrow,” Haru said, “That is if Mama doesn’t kill us tonight.”

Sora grinned, “Nah, she likes us too much.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lightning crashed as the dark robed man walked up to the mansion almost hidden from view at the cul-de-sac, the black gates opened as he passed through them…

Across town at the museum, a hand raised out of the sarcophagus in the Egyptian exhibition, opening the lid…

In the police station, a man was screaming to be locked up before the full moon rose, inciting a riot as he kept yelling…

At the back of the marsh that connected the lower middle class neighborhoods with the forest surrounding the town, bubbles started forming on the surface as something rose from the depths…

The dark robed man made his way down a staircase, a sinister smile on his lips as he reached the basement, saw the slab with the massive body beneath a blanket.

Lightning crashed once more as sinister laughter heard throughout the night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Nothing ever happens around here,” Haru complained the next morning, “I think we got in on the wrong side of the world. At least Europe had all of those monsters, and Japan has the ninjas and even creepier monsters.”

“What about the shape-shifters in Native American legends?” Sora asked as he walked beside his brother, “And plenty happens in this country… just not here.”

Karasu caught up with them, “Hey, I have something right up your ally,” when both turned to look at him, he lowered his voice, “Dad got a weird call last night calling him back to the station, apparently there was a guy claiming to be a wolfman or something that wanted to be locked up last night.”

Both twins looked at him, “So?” they asked.

“So… he got shot, double-tapped and everything, and they sent him to the ER…” he paused for dramatic effect, “The ambulance was found an hour later, the paramedic dead and the guy gone. And he shouldn’t have survived those wounds.”

Haru and Sora looked at each other, “Think it‘s something big?” the younger twin was already going into his knapsack, for the book.

“We’ve got to get this translated,” he said, “The last date is Halloween night, a hundred years ago… and that’s in three days. Something’s going on.”

“Just because of one crazy guy?” Karasu raised an eyebrow, “I’m more worried that this maniacs going to be on the loose. My dad‘s a cop remember? He‘s going to be on the front line… and Mom‘s a doctor, which makes it even worse.”

“Well, they’re letting you walk to school aren’t they?” Haru shrugged, “That’s reason enough to not worry.”

Kano had caught up to them then, “Did you hear on the news that someone had completely decimated the picnic area at Hollow Point. There was black sludge everywhere!” he shivered, “The pictures they were showing of it made me think of one of the comics you have Haru.”

“Ugh, don’t tell me you’re joining in their ‘monsters are real’ thing,” Saisei said as he passed them, “Dad was going on this morning about a mummy disappearing from the museum.”

“Both of them are upset at that,” Odin explain, trotting after his brother, “Apparently no one heard anything. It’s like it walked right out,” he looked around, “Aren’t you guys walking your sister to school?”

“She had to see the doctor this morning,” Haru said, “So she’ll be at school later.”

Sora was quiet, thinking over what everyone had said, “Guys… we’ve got so far, Wolfman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Mummy…” he said, “And an old diary that tells us that…”

“Nothing, it tells us nothing,” Saisei crossed his arms, “We can’t even read it remember?”

“Well then we need to find someone who knows Romanian,” Sora exclaimed, “Or we can try and see if we can get it translated by google translate… something.”

For once, none of the boys noticed that they were passing by the spook house, nor did they notice the tanned hand that parted the windows, the face with dark eyes that stared after them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So little Chihiro, how are these nightmares coming?” Yuko asked as she looked at her small patient, “Your mother tells me that you’ve been trying to fight sleep, and that’s not healthy for a five year old.”

She played with her bear, pointedly not answering the red-head, who simply sighed, “I can prescribe some pills that will help her sleep,” she said to Mira, “I normally don’t like doing that, but this is an extreme case,” she went to write on her pad, “You say that her father has the same problems?”

Mira nodded, “In his case, there were some…” she chewed her lip, “Some strange circumstances that went into it.”

“Oh yes,” Yuko said quietly, “I remember him telling me once that his mother died in childbirth and he was raised by his Uncle. I suppose that would cause nightmares. But Chihiro has a normal family life, so I can’t see what the cause is… unless her brothers were reading her those comics of theirs…”

“That’s not it,” Mira sighed, “If anything that calms her down,” she glanced down at her daughter, “I know you don’t like people talking about you, but you’re not talking, so don’t give me that glare.”

“Well, we’ll try this medicine and see if that does anything,” Yuko said as she wrote out another note, “And here’s so you don’t get in trouble heading back to school,” she smiled, “I’m told that you’re awfully fond of your kindergarten teacher.”

“Everyone likes Ms. Kotori,” Chihiro said quietly, “She’s Love.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below the dark mansion, the dark robed man was feeling the walls of the cavern, “It’s here… I feel it…”

He stopped at a wall, “Here,” he smirked, “Finally, our time will be here.” he lifted a pick axe and hit the wall, quickly forming a hole where a bright light shone through.

Quickly stepping out of the way of the beam, “Three more days… only three more days and then I can destroy it!”

There was a heavy footfall behind him, and he turned to the large heavily built man, that stayed in shadows, “Good, you’re awake. I need something,” he sneered, “Van Helsing’s journal. Children have it… and you are more than allowed to kill them to get it.”

As the heavy footsteps faded away, a sinister laughter followed him, one that promised nothing but ill-will towards the world.

Part Two

Haru sighed as he glanced up at the clock, “How much longer do we have to wait around on this guy?”

“Five more minutes,” Sora yawned as he leaned his head on the desk, “Then I say we cut out of here and find out what we can about what’s going on.”

The seconds ticked by and both sighed again, getting up to gather their things as the door opened, and both sat back down as the blue-haired man entered the room.

“You two must be the Sabaku twins,” he said smiling, “I’m Mr. Mekagami, your tutor.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mira was in the kitchen working on dinner when the doorbell rang, “Coming,” she said going to the front door, “Oh!” she said as she saw the sweet looking woman with her autumn gold hair in a braid, “Ms. Kotori?”

“It’s actually Phoebe… Phoebe Faerchylde,” she smiled, “Kotori was a nickname given to me in college, and it seems that my new students just like calling me it.”

“Well, Phoebe, what can I do for you?” Mira said as she wiped her hands, “Is Chi doing alright in school?”

“She’s doing fine,” Phoebe said gently, “She’s one of the brightest students that we have. I’m just doing a home visit, since I just started. I wanted to introduce myself to the parents and see if there was anything that I needed to look out for… though I did want to ask if the paint came out of the clothing that got sent home yesterday.”

Mira smiled as she waved the teacher to a seat and got out the tea, “It came out fine, and thanks for getting it off of the rest of her, the boys told me what happened at the joint recess. I imagine you had a start when she got back to your class like that.”

“Well, yes I did… Naruto was nice enough to take over the class while I took her to the bathroom to clean her up. I hate that those older girls were mean to her,” she took a sip of her tea, “Um…”

“You want to ask if Chi has problems with making friends?” Mira asked as she held her cup, “It’s alright,” she sighed, “She’s pretty quiet, and she seems to have her father’s problem with staring too intently at someone… but she has a way of telling if someone is good or bad.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chihiro was sitting in the forest near her backyard and picking at daisies when a shadow loomed over her, and she looked up to see the grey-green toned man wearing ragged clothing. He was easily over six feet…possibly over seven feet tall and broad in the shoulders and chest.

The two stared at each other for a long moment before she picked up another flower, “Want to make a wreath?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Uh, Mekagami,” the twins looked up at the structure in front of them, “That’s the spook house.”

“I can see where you guys would take the name from,” he smiled, “But there’s nothing spooky about my place. My brother and I are just a bit horrid when it comes to yard work… and house work…” he sighed, “Truth be told, my brother spends almost all day writing and I’m busy running around the different schools… and he likes the abandoned haunted house look.”

Both boys gave him an odd look, then followed him inside the gate, “He needs to add some more cobwebs,” Haru finally commented.

Sora nodded, “Maybe a bit of fog. The place has giving us all sorts of creeps for years, but there’s no reason it can’t be scarier.”

“A few graves could work too,” the older twin nodded, “Maybe a…”

The older man smiled to himself as he let them in, “We have been thinking about getting a pet owl. My brother has an avid interest in ornithology. He actually has a license for raptors and everything,” he waved them to the table, “Go ahead and have a seat and take out your books, I’ll go make some tea and we’ll get started.”

“It even looks worse on the inside,” Haru commented looking around, “Cobwebs and dust everywhere.”

“I kind of like it,” Sora smirked, “Think we can convince them to charge tickets? We could make a mint off of Haunted House tours.”

“That’s only if my brother wanted to,” Mekagami said as he brought the tea kettle and some cups to them, “Now, I talked with Iruka on how you two were doing in his class. Sora, you don’t need the tutoring,” he smiled at the younger twin, “There are some interesting books in the room down the hall if you want to go look at them, I’m certain you’ll be bored by me going over things you know so well here.”

Both twins blinked, it was rare for anyone to tell right off the bat which was which, “Uh sure,” Sora finally said, grabbing his books and going down the hall, entering the room to see a dusty library.

Looking around the books, he found that there were all sorts of titles here, some dealing with mythology, others dealing with birds… some with both. There was a long row that were collections of Lovecraft books, another of Poe’s stories followed by other horror and terror novels and anthologies. Sora chewed his lip as he looked though them, then found another row of various dictionaries translating different languages to English.

His eyes widened, and he found the Romanian dictionary, taking it out and going to the desk in there, pulling the diary out of his knapsack along with a notebook, “Let’s see…” he muttered to himself.

Ar fi mai usor sa ceara pentru cineva sa-l cititi cu tine.” a voice said behind him, and he turned to see the silver-haired man sitting in a dark corner, somehow overlooked in the exploration of the room earlier.

“What did you say?” Sora asked.

“I said, ‘It would be easier to ask for someone to read it to you.’ in Romanian,” the man looked up from the book he was reading, “My brother said he was bringing some boys over for tutoring, I thought that perhaps I would be undisturbed here,” he closed the volume and walked to the desk, “Obviously I was wrong; however, the fact that you’re looking to translate something from as obscure a language as this does intrigue me.”

“How did you see from way over there?”

“I know exactly where every book in this house is. Despite appearances, it’s very organized here. I suppose I should ask your name.”

“Sora… Sora Sabaku, my brother’s Haru,” he watched the man take the diary and look through it.

“Odd coincidence, my brother’s name is also Haru. Mine is Itsumi,” he smiled, “This is a very interesting read. It talks about the forces of darkness and light and the equilibrium that has to be kept. Specifically, it seems to talk more on one being, Dracula. It almost reads as a companion to that famous story, except for one thing.”

“What?” Sora asked with wide eyes.

“It’s entirely too dry. There’s no exaggeration, no humor, nothing to deviate from what were Van Helsing’s personal observations. And this penmanship tells me that he was an older gentleman. There’s also the matter of this last entry, dated Halloween a hundred years ago… he describes a ceremony that is used to seal away Dracula and his minions, and states that he is off to complete this… but it ends there, there’s not a clue as to whether or not he succeeded.”

“Say Dracula and some other monsters were still around… what is the ceremony?”

Itsumi seemed to smile at those words, as he turned to the book, “There is an amulet,” he showed Sora the sketching made in the book, “That when held by a virgin maid can send Dracula and the monsters that he controls into limbo. And it’s indestructible apparently, except for one moment, exactly midnight on All Hallow’s Eve. But if the virgin reads this,” he pointed at the words, “At precisely the same moment the gem is indestructible, then instead of being destroyed, the sealing portal will open and those forces of darkness will be destroyed again.”

“So all I need to do is find a virgin,” Sora muttered to himself, getting up, “Thanks.”

“There’s more,” Itsumi said, “There’s talk in this book about a search that Helsing also did, to find a destined child of both light and dark. Apparently she was to be targeted more than anyone else, because of her ability to shift the balance and ensure the equilibrium is kept.”

“Does it say who she is?” the younger twin stared at him.

“No, only that when she is on her way into the world is when these monsters will start to congregate, hoping to stop her birth before it occurs. It seemed that these monsters were targeting a young woman, and that they successfully caused her to miscarry the day before the ceremony…” Itsumi looked up, “Which possibly means that they failed the ceremony itself, and it stands to reason that they might be looking for both the amulet and the mother carrying the girl. I would keep an eye out.”

Sora nodded, “Hey, does it gives any clues as to how to find either?”

“The amulet was said to be discovered in the darkest of places, giving hope there and fighting what evil it could,” he smiled wryly, “The girl is harder to spot, but he describes the mother-to-be as being a maiden with a pure heart. He mentions that Dracula is only the servant of something far darker… that can‘t be trapped by the portal the amulet makes.”

“So the ceremony on Halloween is like a battle in a long war?” he turned the doorknob, “Hey, think we can get you and your brother to help us fight it?”

“Gladly,” Itsumi held up the book, “I’m not very fond of vampires and werewolves.”

“And the Mummy,” Sora pointed out, “He’s with them too.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“They’re real?” Kano said as he shivered, the six of them meeting in the clubhouse after the twins had gotten home.

Truthfully, the others were there already, but Sora still declared it an emergency meeting when he got there.

“They’re not real,” Saisei snorted as he laid back on the bench, “Sora, that guy was just messing with you.”

“I don’t think so,” the younger twin said, “We’ve already had sightings of three of them. And the book said that there would be seven warriors of light. Maybe that’s supposed to be us.”

“There are six of us,” Odin pointed out, his eyes wide, “Um… what kind of warriors.”

“Like they had special abilities or something,” Haru grinned.

“Superheroes,” Sora nodded, “Or ninja. Something cool like that.”

“Still not real, none of this stuff you’re talking about is actually happening,” Saisei sat up, “It’s all just weird…”

A knock came from the trapdoor, “Guys!” Chihiro cried up.

“Hey, learn to read,” Saisei opened it up, “I…”

“Would you guys just come down and look?” she interrupted, placing her hands on her hips, “I‘ve got something to show you.”

They looked at each other and shrugged, all of them coming down the ladder and standing in the backyard, “So?”

She waved at the trees and a large man walked out, slowly walking towards them, causing the boys to all gasp and run.

The man stopped and she took his hand, “Guys it‘s alright. Come on, don’t be chickenshit!” she called.

“That’s not medically possible,” Karasu peeked out from behind the fence, “Look at his coloring… he’s dead.”

“It’s Frankenstein’s monster,” the twins gasped, then Sora slowly walked out.

“Sora…” Kano chewed his lip.

“Come on, Chi says he’s okay,” he said, then turned to look up at the imposing monster, “Uh… guess you really don’t have a name do you.”

“…F…r..ank…” the man said in a guttural voice.

“He has a hard time,” Chihiro said quietly.

“Because he’s a walking corpse… or uh, pieces of corpses,” Sora looked up, “But at the end of the book, he was talking pretty good.”

“Just…woke… up.” Frank said, “Dracula wants book… wants children dead.”

The other boys had inched closer, “okay… maybe I wanted to believe you,” Saisei said quietly, “Uh… what should we do?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“You be careful walking home!” Mira called, “Are you sure you don’t want me to call a cab?”

“Oh no, I’ll be fine,” Phoebe smiled, “It’s not that far, and I like the walking.”

“Well, yeah, but in your condition, you should be taking it easy,” Mira said, “Are you sure you don’t want to stay for dinner at least?”

The teacher smiled, shaking her head, “Oh no, I’m fine. I’m surprised that you noticed though,” she placed her hand on her abdomen, “I haven’t even started showing yet.”

Mira shrugged, “I just know the signs. You’ll make a great mother, I can tell,” she smiled and started to head back into the house, “You be careful though. Call someone if you need to.”

“I will,” Phoebe promised as she started to walk away, “It was nice meeting you Mrs. Sabaku.”

“Call me Mira!” she yelled, waving, “And you tell him soon too! I’m sure he’ll be excited as all get out about it!”

Deep blue eyes stared at the door after it closed, wondering how in the world the housewife picked up on that as well, then she shrugged, smiling to herself and walked on, stopping for a moment at the spook house as she passed it, and smiling and waving at the face that appeared in the window there.

Itsumi made a gesture through the pane, and she smiled again, opening the gate and walking towards the front door.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Two more days,” Dracula walked through the house, “Two more days and it will all be completed,” he stopped as he came to the room with the man tied up, “I can’t have you escaping my old friend, it’s bad enough that the Monster hasn’t returned yet.”

“Please, just let me die.” the man groaned, “Before the full moon, take the silver…”

“No can do,” Dracula smiled as he felt the sunset in the distance, “Now my friend, I must leave you so that I can hunt, but do make yourself more comfortable.”

Shadows surrounded him, and instead of a man, there was a bat that flew away and out of the dark house.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey Naruto, have you seen the garlic?” Shane asked as he was looking through the kitchen, “I was going to use it for cooking…”

“No, I haven’t,” the blond thought for a second, “Oh wait, I think Odin borrowed it for something. He said he needed it.”

“Strange… wonder what he’s up to.” Saisei walked through the kitchen then, carrying a bunch of wooden dowel rods and his archery set. “Hey, what’s all that for?”

“Um…” Saisei chewed his lip, “Project at school.” he finally said, then walked away, leaving both fathers looking confused and wide eyed.

“Wonder what kind of project it is,” Naruto finally said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Okay, stay here,” Haru told Frank, “You’re just kinda too big for the house.”

“That and we can’t think of anything to say to explain you to Mama,” Sora added, placing a bag down, “These are the leftovers that we could scrounge from dinner.”

Kano beamed, “If I can, I will stop by during my morning exercises to wish you a merry morning.”

They climbed down, and Chihiro looked at him, “I told you they wouldn’t judge,” she said, “We’ve got to go to bed, but I’ll be back in the morning before I go to school.”

He nodded, patting her head, “Good.”

She smiled gently, climbing down and waving before she went into the house.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“What do you mean?” Itachi pinched his nose, “Define ‘drained’… None at all? And the girls that were with him are missing?” he sighed wearily, “I’ll be right there.”

Yuko crossed her arms, as he hung up the phone, “You just came home.”

“And now I’m going back out. There was a car accident and apparently a murder. You know how bad this time of year is,” he cupped her cheek, “I’ll be right back. Promise.”

“You better be,” she sighed, “Karasu needs you too.”

Their son peeked through the stairs where he was hiding, listening to his parents talk, but for once, his mind wasn’t on what they were saying, but the case his father was getting called out on, another sign that everything was happening was pointing at monsters being real.

His mother walked back towards her study as his father walked out the door, and he shook his head, trying not to think on that as he went to the dining room, to the special chest Yuko had for her special silverware, reserved only for when Itachi’s family came over.

She’s so going to kill me for this. But… greater good. And this better be real.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mira placed the candle by Chihiro’s bed, “Did you take your pill?” she asked her.

She nodded, “It was hard,” she said quietly, holding her bear, “What’s that?”

“Something I just remembered my mom doing,” Mira smiled, “So long as that stays lit, nothing bad can get you,” she blew on it, causing a small flame to form on the wick, “Neat trick huh?”

Chihiro chewed her lip, “Fire’s supposed to go out when you blow.”

“This is a special candle,” her mother said, tucking her in, “And it’ll protect you. Promise.”

The little girl smiled, her eyes drifting closed, and Mira stood up, “Sorry, but I can’t tell you yet,” she kissed her forehead, “Night.”

Part Three

The door opened and Itachi came back into the living room just as the sun was rising, wincing at the sight of Yuko sitting in the recliner with a blanket over her… apparently she had waited up for him.

“Hey,” he whispered, moving a strand of hair out of her eyes, “You’re lucky you’re not on call today.”

“What took you so long?” she murmured turning towards him.

“Another case… and then another,” he smiled, “They sent me home because the craziness seemed to stop, and we filled out the paperwork. But there aren’t any clues… any that make sense at least.”

“I told you they needed to hire more homicide detectives,” she sighed as she sat up, “Shisui and you are overworked.”

“To be fair… until last night there weren’t very many homicides in this town. We were working on a lot of domestic abuse cases and a few breaking and enterings,” he shook his head, “When it rains it pours I guess.”

“Come on, we’ll have some breakfast and then we can go to bed,” both of them looked up at the creak on the stairs to see Karasu coming down, “What are you doing up? It’s Saturday,” Yuko asked with wide eyes.

“We’re all getting together to make plans for tomorrow night,” he said.

“Alright, but don’t be too late coming home, your grandparents are taking us out for dinner tonight,” she turned to Itachi, after he went out the door, “They called last night, apparently your father has a present for him.”

“Strange, normally they don’t celebrate Halloween,” he narrowed his eyes, “And Father’s not one for unnecessary gifts.”

“Still. You’d think they’d at least give something for their eldest son’s wedding,” Yuko muttered as she went to get together some breakfast, “He’s the only grandson, so he’s bound to get spoiled.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey Dad, is it okay if we spend the night at the clubhouse tomorrow night?” Odin asked as he ate a spoonful of cereal, “We’re going to be working on something.”

“Sure,” Shane said, “So which of them do you have a crush on, I can…”

“SHANE!” Naruto yelped, “They’re ten! They’re not having that sort of sleepover,” he glanced over at the two boys, “You’re not right?”

“Honestly, you two need help,” Saisei said as he finished his breakfast and went to take the bowl to the sink, “Odin, we’ve got to get going, it’s almost seven.”

He nodded, and gulped up the rest of his cereal, “Thanks Dads,” he said as he scooted down, taking care of the dirty dish and then running upstairs to grab his bag, meeting Saisei by the door, “We’ll see you later.”

The two men waved off the boys, “Can’t believe you’d think…” Naruto muttered.

“Hey, do you remember our first sleepover?” Shane smirked, “That was fun wasn’t it.”

Naruto turned bright red as Shane wrapped his arms around him, “I…it was…” he smiled sheepishly, then sniffed, “Hey, why do I suddenly smell garlic?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey dad, know where we can get any holy water?” Haru asked as he looked through his comic, looking up as Mira took it away, “Hey!”

“No comics at the table,” she said gently, passing him a stack of pancakes.

“What do you need holy water for?” Gaara asked quietly as he took bite of his food.

“We just want to know where to get some in case hordes of undead started attacking,” Sora said, “You know, so we can be prepared.”

Their parents exchanged a glance at that, “Probably the church on the square,” Mira suggested, “They have a basin out for baptisms and such.”

“Shame we don’t know any holy men,” Gaara said, “They could bless any water in an instant. Chi, you haven’t eaten much.”

“Not really hungry,” she yawned, “I don’t think the medicine agrees with me much. Hey Mama, can I pack a lunch for later though?”

“Us too,” the twins chorused, “We’re going to get going in a bit.”

“Uh… alright,” she said blinking, “Where are you guys off to?”

“More tutoring,” they said, “And Mr. Mekagami said we could explore the spook house. Chi’s coming too.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Is it not a glorious day!” Kano grinned as he walked next to Frank through the forest, “Daddy and I were up before the sun. How did you sleep in the clubhouse?”

There was a grunt in response, and he nodded, “Haru and Sora called earlier and told me to take you to the back of the spook house, apparently we’re all meeting there to make the weapons and our strategy.”

Bubbles seemed to follow them in the marsh, and Kano stopped, looking back, “Truth be told, all of this happening is frightening,” he said quietly, searching the surface of the water, “But I am ready!” he said happily, “Daddy has thought me a lot!”

Satisfied that there was nothing following them, so far as he could tell at least, he took Frank’s hand, and the two continued on the path.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haru and Sora blinked at the recently cleaned sitting room, “Awwww,” they said, “We liked the dust.”

“Sorry, Itsumi’s girlfriend stopped by last night, and she kept sneezing,” Mekagami placed the tea down in front of them, “So I cleaned a little bit. She might even convince him to leave the house again. You said your friends were coming over?”

“How does a recluse get a girlfriend?” Haru asked with wide eyes.

“They met when he was teaching a college course overseas,” the older man sighed, “It seems like an odd match, but hey, they’re happy.”

Chihiro was looking around the house, and she turned as a door opened, and Phoebe walked out, “Ms. Kotori?”

“Oh,” Phoebe blushed bright red, “Chi… what are you doing here?”

“We’re going to be fighting monsters,” she said quietly, “What are you doing here?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoebe looked at the children and Frankenstein’s Monster gathered in the living room with wide eyes, “So I guess we have until tomorrow night then? Have any of you told your parents about this?”

“And say what?” Saisei crossed his arms, “Dad’s an atheist as it is, so to try and get him to believe in anything is a pain in the a**. And our other dad is afraid of anything even remotely dealing with spooks.”

“My parents have enough problems,” Karasu sighed, “Between the increase of homicides and Mom’s dealings with Dad’s family.”

“Dad believes me,” Kano spoke up, “He says that the fires of our youth are enough to bring down any foe!”

“Yeah, but your dad believes in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus,” Saisei said, “And he’s as big a scaredy-cat as my dad is.”

“What about your parents?” Odin asked Haru and Sora quietly, “Would they believe in anything like this?”

Both shrugged, “They seem to be supportive, but why test it?”

“Love how they dragged random adults into this,” the older Haru sighed as he pinched his nose, “What are we supposed to do now?” he blinked as they piled garlic, wooden stakes, silverware, squirt guns, and crosses onto the table.

“We make weapons,” the twins said grinning.

Behind the house, in the marsh, bubbles formed on the surface again, and a shadow started rising from the water, taking slow sloshing steps towards the house.

“But how are we going to know where the amulet is?” Odin asked, as they went through the maps of the town Itsumi placed for them, while Saisei and Karasu were in the kitchen melting the silverware and garlic into the welding pot that the older Mekagami set up for them.

“Dad says that there are sightings of an unmarked black car running around town at the same time of the cases,” Karasu said, “At least that’s what I heard on the police scanner.”

“Thinking about it,” Saisei said as he put another fork into the welding pot, “Wasn’t there a moving van in front of that house a few streets over from ours the other day? The gothic mansion… remember Odin?”

“Yeah… and there was a black car there too,” he chewed his lip.

“Someone actually bought the murder house?” the twins chorused, “Wow.”

“If it’s Dracula, then he probably doesn’t mind the superstitions there,” Phoebe pointed out, “Do you know if he found the amulet?” she asked Frank.

He nodded, “Bright Light.”

“Well, guess it’s there then. How are we going to get it?” Haru asked, looking at his brother who shrugged.

“We need it by midnight tomorrow right?” Saisei asked, and they nodded, “And vampires can’t come out in daylight right?’

“So we hit that place tomorrow morning?” the twins grinned, “That’s a great idea!”

“I’ll have to pass, I have to go to church with my grandparents,” Karasu blinked as the squirt guns got piled next to him, “Hey, you’re not asking me to…”

“We’ll get some too,” Haru promised, and Sora nodded, “Hey, do you know any one who can bless water?”

“I should go wake up Itsumi,” Phoebe said as she excused herself, “Haru, I guess you should be in charge of transportation tomorrow.”

“Why me?” he blinked his eyes, “I…”

“You’re the only one who owns a car,” the twins pointed out. “So we’ll meet here again, and you can take them over.”

“And I’m sure their parents are perfectly alright with that,” Haru sighed, “Damnit, this is too big for a group of…”

The back door crashed in and a black creature with frog like features burst into the room, hissing at them, as they all jumped.

Karasu was the first to move, inching closer to grab the frying pan he saw hanging on the counter. The creature turned to him, and he tensed, then wondered at the strange sensation he felt in his eyes.

The next thing he knew the lake monster was lying on it’s back with an arrow stuck in it’s gut and the twins were patting his back, “How’d you do that?” they asked grinning, “You made him freeze!”

“I…uh what?” he blinked in confusion, “What happened?”

“You froze the monster in place and Kano and I took care of him,” Saisei said, “He seemed almost hypnotized by you, how’d you do that?”

“He’s an Uchiha,” Itsumi said as he came down the stairs, “He used the sharingan.” he looked down at the creature and turned to his brother, “So, it seems that I might have a reason to leave the house again.”

“Wait,” Karasu rubbed his eyes, trying to ease some of the aches, “I controlled him? And just because of my family?”

“It’s not as common as the legends say it once was,” Itsumi said, handing him a book, “But the Uchiha was once one of the greatest clans of the ninja world. And the ones that brought about the downfall.”

“Considering how much of an a** most of them are, I believe that,” Sora whistled, “Kano, you showed some awesome strength. And Saisei, that was a pretty impressive shot.”

“Not as cool as hypnotizing eyes,” Saisei grumbled, “Everyone oka… Odin… you’re glowing.”

Everyone turned to look at the blond boy who had stepped in front of Phoebe and Chihiro at the creature’s appearance, “I… what?” he blinked, then looked up to notice the bright golden sphere that seemed to surround him and the two women, “Wow…” he whispered, calling the shield down, “That’s really cool.”

“Where’s Frank?” the twins asked, then looked over in the corner, where he was hiding, “Big ole guy like you afraid? No wonder Dracula was bullying you.”

Chihiro went to him, pulling on his hand, “I was scared too,” she whispered, “But we’ve got to fight them.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They went back home long before sunset, to try and rest for the battle coming tomorrow, “We’ve got one monster down at least,” the twins chorused.

“Yeah, the easy one,” Saisei snorted, “Odin and I will try and retrieve the amulet tomorrow. We’ll meet you here after lunch,” they got on their bikes and headed off to their house.

“I better get going, I want Mom to take a look at my eyes before I have dinner with Grandfather and Baa-chan,” Karasu said as he turned down his street, “Don’t let anyone in the house! Remember that’s one way he can get you.”

“Wonder if we’ll get any cool powers,” Haru said as he walked towards the house with his siblings and Kano.

“Probably, Itsumi wanted us to come over first thing, he was going to research some things,” Sora looked up at the sky, “You think anything is going to happen tonight?”

“With the end of the world happening tomorrow and one of his creatures down,” Chihiro looked up at her brothers and Kano, “What do you think?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I don’t see anything wrong,” Yuko said as she flashed her pen light from one side of Karasu’s face to the other, “You said they were bothering you?”

“Yeah,” he chewed his lip, “Hey, have you ever heard of something called the sharingan?”

“Where did you hear a strange word like that?” she asked, helping him down, “Now you better go comb out your hair and put something nice on, your grandparents will be here any moment.”

He nodded, and left the room, not noticing his father standing at the doorway, and staring after him with a strange look on his face, about to go after him when his cell rang. Cursing he pulled out the phone, “Yes, I’m on my way.”

Vowing to talk with his son later on the subject, he put on his jacket, glancing back to see Yuko, “Sorry.”

She crossed her arms, “You have to go now?”

“Another case,” he said, “There was a strangulation victim found,” he sighed, “This one may be an all-nighter too.”

Part Four

“So did you guys find anything neat at Mr. Mekagami’s house?” Mira asked as she passed the macaroni and cheese, “You were there all day.”

“Yeah, he had some cool books,” Sora said, taking a spoonful onto his plate, “Hey, Mama, what do you think of Dracula.”

“The undisputed king of vampires?” she asked, “Bela Legosi all the way, though I think Christopher Lee did a good job playing him… Gary Oldman not so much, I don’t like the idea of Mina and Dracula being a pairing.”

“Yet, you still liked the idea of Jonathon and Dracula, and even came up with that weird theory of yours,” Gaara teased, “How he took Mina to get at him.”

“He did!” she exclaimed, “And not just because of the brides, the entire book was Dracula taking revenge on Jonathon,” she took a spoon of the steamed broccoli and spinach, “But the big thing for me shipping Dracula and Jonathon is the book was pretty much a boy’s version of ‘Camilla‘.”

“I still remember you and Temari arguing that with the teacher in drama class,” Gaara had a wry smile on his face, “Remember the play? You two made up a screenplay and got it to double feature with the Dracula play the rest of us were doing.”

“Oh gosh, remember that party right after, when you and I got together?” she sighed, “That was a great night… has it really been eleven years?”

Chihiro stared at her parents as she chewed thoughtfully on her food.

“So our conception happened at a cast party after you did a lesbian vampire play with Auntie in high school?” the twins chorused, “That explains sooo much…”

“Shush you two. So why did you ask about Dracula? Fighting vampires and zombies now?” Mira took a bite of her food, “Uh… it’s complicated to kill a vampire, wasn’t it stake through the heart, chop off the head, stuff the mouth with garlic and stitch it close, and then rebury the body upside down or something like that?”

“It’s easier to get the virgin to recite the passage and open up limbo,” Haru sighed under his breath, “Hey, they can’t move around in sunlight right?”

“No, but if they carry their soil with them, they can move around inside. Depending on the vampire,” Gaara looked at his sons, “What are you two up to?”

“Not much,” they chorused, “Saving the world type stuff. So did you play a vampire in the play?”

Mira giggled, “It was funny, Temari played Carmilla and I played the narrator of that story. And Gaara,” she giggled again, “And this is really how we ended up getting together because he was mad at me… he had to play Lucy because there weren’t enough girls in the class for Dracula after Temari and I made up our play.”

Gaara sighed, “And it didn’t help matters that the lead went to Kankuro.”

“Oh, trust me, it was possibly the greatest double feature of all time,” Mira chuckled, “We got so many nice letters from the G.S.A. because of that. Everyone at school thought that we were being political, when really, Temari and I just plain didn‘t like Dracula as the definitive vampire.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karasu looked at the sheathed katana his grandfather had given him, “First the sharingan and now this,” he muttered, “Something tells me it’s not just monsters that are appearing now.”

“Your great ancestor wielded this blade in battle,” his grandfather had said, “And I meant to give it to you for your birthday, since I know how much you like historical weaponry, but it was stuck in the vault. Luckily my secretary was able to draw it out.”

“Well, at least it’s something to fight with,” he muttered, then took the book Itsumi had given him, “Great Clans of the Five Countries, The Legacy of the Sage of Six Paths… looks like we’re back to ninja for now.”

He turned the first page, looking at the chapter index, “Uchiha… oh, there,” flipping to the page number he started reading, his eyes getting wider and wider until he finally flung the book away, his face pale.

“Why hadn’t anyone talked about it before…” he whispered, remembering the words Itsumi had said as he handed him the book, “The Uchiha was once one of the greatest clans of the ninja world. And the ones that brought about the downfall.”

He turned to stare at the sword again, “That was his sword,” he whispered, “The Uchiha that Uncle was named after… so why do I have it now?”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Mama, did you drop out of high school because you got pregnant?” Chihiro asked as Mira tucked her in.

“Nope,” the fiery haired woman smiled as she kissed her daughter’s forehead, and blew the candle to life, “But that’s why we moved here from Suna. Gaara’s father bought us this house far away from where we would,” she huffed and held her fingers up in quotations, “Embarrass him. But I finished high school, even with two years left and twins. We had a lot of friends to help… even Temari moved here,” she ruffled Chihiro’s hair, “So that’s why you need to make some good friends that will stand by you when times get tough.”

“But you didn’t meet Uncle Lee and Auntie Umbra until after you moved here,” she pointed out, “And do you know the Mekagami brothers down the street?”

“Go to sleep,” the fiery haired woman smiled, “I think you guys have a big day planned for tomorrow.”

She walked out of the room, and Chihiro took the pill out of her mouth, stuffing it in her bear, and then she sat up, crossing her legs as she took out the notes that she was given at the spook house.

“You’ll have to recite the words,” Itsumi said, “You’re the only virgin maid I know. Can you read?”

She nodded, and he wrote out the words that were to be recited, making notes on how to pronounce them, “Say this precisely in this manner while holding the amulet. Don’t worry… we’ll all be guarding you. But this is how we’re going to defeat them. You have to do this exactly right.”

Phoebe had hugged her, “You’re one of my brightest students Chi. This will be easy for you.”

Chihiro chewed her lip, slowly sounding out the words before her in a low whisper, “Diavolul in carne si oa…oase… du-te in..a..poi…inapoi la…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the sun rose on Halloween morning, the town woke to find various accounts of wreckage and mayhem already on the streets.

It seems that the tricks are out a little early this year,” one news reporter was saying a few hours later on the television on Shane’s kitchen counter, “This is the scene outside of the church on second and main, where there is nothing but wreckage and what appears to be blood painted on, in very cryptic words, ‘The End Comes Tonight. Children Give Up.’ Now experts tell us…

“I’m not sure if I’m alright with you guys staying the night at the clubhouse,” Shane said as he turned off the television, “If Naruto and I weren’t going to that party tonight, I would say that everyone could come here.”

“Well why not?” Naruto said with a mouthful of cereal, “They’re ten. They can take care of themselves, and the security in this neighborhood is pretty good.”

Shane thought it over for a moment, “Alright, fine. Call your friends and tell them what the new plan is, and Saisei, I’m leaving you in charge. Make sure those Sabaku boys don’t wreck the place.”

“Sure Dad,” he jumped down, going to the phone, “Hey, Odin and I were thinking of walking down to the forest to work on my archery for a bit, is that alright?”

“Oh yeah,” Shane said, “This neighborhood seems fine,” he looked up, “Oh, I guess I better call Mira then,” he said as he saw the bikes outside the window, with the twins on them, “You guys sure are hanging out a lot this weekend.”

“Ninja stuff,” Odin smiled as he went to grab his backpack, “Be back in a little bit Dads.”

He and Saisei ran out, grabbing their bikes on the way, and met up with the others, “Chi’s still working on the spell,” Haru said, “And Kano’s getting some more holy water. He said his father knows a priest or something.”

“We haven’t talked to Karasu yet,” Sora mused, “But he’s supposed to be going to church today, so we’ll try and nab him at lunch. Ready to go get the amulet?”

“The vampires are going to be sleeping right?” Odin asked in a small voice.

“Hopefully. Don’t forget the mummy and the wolfman though,” the twins chorused and all four pedaled their bikes down the roads, heading for the imposing black house.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Sure, I don’t mind,” Mira said on the phone, “Lee just left to take his karate class to a tournament, but I’ll call him and clear it for Kano as well,” she pinched her nose, “Shane… they’re ten. I highly doubt they’re going to be up to anything like that. Besides, I think they were planning a monster movie fest tonight.”

Chihiro glanced over at her mother, then turned to Kano, “Think they got it yet?”

He chewed his lip, “Even if they were using the roads, the mansion is pretty far away. Saisei saw the moving van there because he and Odin were riding with their fathers somewhere and it was along the way. On bikes, it should take a few hours.”

“But we don’t have a lot of time,” she looked up at the clock, “It’s already noon.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They pulled their bikes down into the woods surrounding the mansion, “When are your Dads leaving for Kiba’s party?” Haru asked.

Saisei looked at his watch, “In two hours… damn, is it already four?” he turned back, “And your mom’s taking Chi trick or treating around then… Kano should bike over to the Mekagami’s then, same with Karasu.”

“Which would give us six hours before we have to do the ceremony… and hopefully we can bike back to town in time.” Sora looked over at Odin, “You okay.”

He nodded, breathing heavily, “I didn’t realize how far out this place was…”

“We’ve got to hide the bikes,” Saisei said quietly, “Sasuke’s house is this way and that’s where the party our Dads are going to is, if they see them, we’re busted.”

Nodding the boys got to work, using branches to completely cover the bikes up, then grabbed their makeshift weapons, “We’ve got four hours until the sun sets… then things are going to get a whole lot harder,” Sora said, glancing at his watch.

“Come on. Let‘s hope these are the vampires that sleep during the day,” Haru led the way down through the bushes to the house.

They opened the door to the house, “It’s scarier than the spook house,” Odin whispered.

“Yeah. People were actually killed here,” Haru shot back, “A whole family… about thirteen years ago.”

The smaller blond shivered as he followed the others in.

“Where is the amulet going to be?” Saisei asked, “We’re not seriously going to be searching this whole…”

CREAK!

All four froze as they heard the sound from upstairs, “Someone’s moving up there…” Odin said nervously, “Guys….”

A hand reached down and pulled a lever and the floor below them collapsed and they fell down into the darkness… though there was a bright light down there as well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Mama, what time is it?” Chihiro asked as Mira placed the candle by her bed.

“Nine-o-clock,” Mira smiled, “Why sweetie?”

“No reason, Night.” her mother kissed her forehead and walked out the door, closing it behind her, and the little girl started moving as soon as she heard the footsteps disappear down the hall, spitting out the pill and stuffing it in her bear and fixing her pillows to look as if someone was in the bed.

She went to the window, opening it to climb out… not noticing that the candle had blown out when she left the room.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Nnngh,” Haru moaned as he opened his eyes, “Damnit, what happened.”

“You hit your head,” Sora said, “And were out for a while. The good news is we found the amulet.”

“And the bad news?”

“We’re still in Dracula’s house,” Saisei glanced over at his brother, “Luckily, it seems that Odin’s shield is still up.”

“I think I see a way up,” Sora said as he looked through the rubble, “There’s a path here.”

“Good, cause I don’t think I can hold this much longer,” Odin said quietly.

“Hold it as long as you can,” Saisei notched an arrow, “We’re going to need to get past some monsters.”

“Why leave us down here?” the younger twin wondered, as he pocketed the amulet, “Is he actually waiting until midnight?”

Haru stood up, “Let’s not wait around to find out,” he said as the four of them went through the narrow tunnel.

They found themselves at the edge of the woods, “So glad that you could join us,” the tall dark robed man said, “Now… the amulet?”

The four of them stepped closer together, “You have only one weapon and that silly shield… and once it falls, so will you.”

They heard hissing and they looked to see three girls with sharp teeth growling at them at their left, behind them a howling as the wolfman jumped in front of the tunnel that they had just exited.

“Guys… is there a back-up plan?” whispered Saisei.

“Nope,” the twins chorused, “Dad is so going to get on to us about half-assed planning.”

They looked to see that their final cutoff was taken by the mummy, “Just a few more minutes boys,” Dracula laughed, “Once that light turns purple I win.”

“I thought we had until midnight!” Saisei snapped, “It’s only five til eleven!”

“Daylight savings time?” the twins wondered, as the four backed up, “Hey, can you try shooting ******** it, I’m doing all the work,” he muttered, raising his bow and shooting at one of the vampiresses, hitting her square in the chest, as she crumbled and exploded, “What are you two doing?” he wondered as the twins suddenly kneeled.

“There’s something calling here,” Sora pointed to Haru, “You feel it?”

Saisei took another arrow and shot a second of the brides, “What?”

The mummy lurched forward, and something snagged it’s foot, pulling it away, and the twins smirked as they saw him literally fall apart, leaving nothing but dust.

“Guys,” gasped Odin, “I…” he fell backwards, caught by Saisei as the shield went down and both the wolfman and the last bride lunged forward.

Only to be shot down, the wolfman turning to a regular man who turned back and whispered “Thank you…” before collapsing down. The bride was cut down by a sword as Karasu plunged a stake in her heart, then pointed the katana at Dracula, “Did you guys get it?”

“Hey, it’s the cavalry!” the twins grinned, picking up Saisei and Odin, and running to the truck where the others were waiting, “Here Chi!” they said passing her the amulet, “Start when it turns purple.”

“What? Now?” she asked with wide eyes.

“We’ll protect you!” Kano said as he jumped down, “There’s only one monster now!”

The twins nodded, as they stood next to their friends and the amulet turned colors.

“Now!” Itsumi said to Chihiro and she nodded, “Diavolul in carne si oase… du-te inapoi la…

Dracula moved through the boys, “Not going to happen,” he growled, throwing them as they tried to stop him, Karasu was first, his eyes spinning red as he moved in to attack with his sword, Kano tried to kick him… both were flung aside.

Saisei let an arrow fly, Haru and Sora bent to the ground summoning something that seemed to hold him for a brief second before they all three were flung. Odin mustered what strength he could to summon a shield, only to be kicked out of the way.

Itsumi and the older Haru moved forward then, both summoning a scythe as they moved in to the attack, only to be thrown away like the rest. Phoebe wrapped her arms protectively around Chihiro, “Don’t look at him,” she whispered, “He’s…” she was knocked back and Dracula picked the small girl who was still chanting up by the neck.

“Give me the amulet you little b***h,” he growled, not seeing the tall figure that lifted him up, causing him to drop Chihiro.

“Finish it!” Itsumi cried, “Hurry!”

Lasati lumina reveni in aceasta lume!” she cried and the amulet started to shake and turn many colors, and she threw it into the air.

Suddenly there was a whirlwind and Frank turned and threw Dracula into the vortex, and he started towards it when Chihiro grabbed his hand as she held onto the truck, “No! Don’t go!” she cried, “You’re not one of them!”

“Good-bye…” he smiled, reaching to ruffle her hair, and moving her small hand out of his, “I have to.”

He let go then, drifting into the whirlwind, “No!” she yelped, trying to catch him, stopped only by two pairs of arms around her waist.

The air suddenly stilled and they all looked around, “Everyone alright?” Sora asked.

“More or less,” Karasu groaned, “Damnit, I was kinda hoping that it would work on him.”

Sirens sounded and police cars pulled into the clearing, “Boys?!” Itachi cried opening the door, then sighed in relief as he saw them, reaching into the car, and opening the back seat, “You guys had us worried disappearing like that,” he turned to Itsumi and Haru, “Not you two again.” he narrowed his eyes, “Didn’t I have enough problems ten years ago?”

“What happened ten years ago?” the twins started, but were stopped when Mira ran over to them, gathering all three of them into a hug, “Oh gods, we were so worried! Shane and Naruto came back from the party and you weren’t there and then I saw Chi gone…” she kissed their foreheads, then glared at them, “Don’t ever do that again.”

“But Mama, if we didn’t, then who would have?” Chihiro asked, “We just saved the world!”

“Next time, at least ask for help,” Gaara said quietly, handing her bear back to her and picking her up, “Haru. You should have called me.”

“I…” the blue haired man blushed, “There’s not a phone line… and I uh…kinda got caught up in all of it.”

Itsumi was helping Phoebe up, “You alright?”

She nodded, “Hey… with the world just being saved and all… I’ve kinda got something to tell you.”

“Alright, everyone load up, I’ll drop everyone off,” Itachi ushered the other kids back into the car, “And Mekagami… I really don’t want to hear from you again.”

He looked at Karasu, “Good job,” he said, patting his back, “Come on, let’s go home.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shane and Naruto stared at their sons after they had told them the story, “Yeah… you’re right. I wouldn’t have believed all that.” the older blond finally said, “You sure you didn’t hit your head?”

Naruto was chewing his lip, “Dracula’s gone right? He’s not coming back from there… right?”

“Um… I don’t think so,” Odin said quietly.

“Ugh,” Shane pinched his nose, “If I didn’t see that damn thing myself I wouldn’t have believed it. I still have problems believing it.”

“I can say the same thing,” Saisei said quietly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mira peeked into the twins room, where they and Kano were all sleeping, “Night boys.”

“So what happened ten years ago?” they asked.

“Not telling you,” she smiled, closing the door, “Well… not yet at least.”

A Very Haunted Halloween-A Trauma Center/Trauma Team story

Part 1

Hospitals always have to deal with death and on Halloween, it was no different. Even so, everyone in the medical field try their best to save lives….but what if they can't be saved? What if it was your own life on the line and have no way to fight back?

It was October 31th, Halloween. It seemed like any other day but everyone in Caduceus and Resurgam first Care have been working hard and both are in now located in Maryland* and Gabe being Gabe have friends and connections from all over, including from Caduceus, they all decided to get together a throw one big Halloween bash. Both Victor and Maria harshly spoke their opinions, claiming how stupid the idea was but none the less both agreed to help out and come to the bash.

Slowly one by one people started slowing up. Derek was dressed as a ghost while Angie was dressed as Princess Peach. There were many interesting costumes, such as Valerie showed up dressed as a sexy flight attendant while Markus and Elena were dressed as Jason from Friday the 13th and a bar maiden.

Soon everyone was there and the party was in full swing; that was until the lights shut off and it went completely black. “Great, just what we need. A power outage!” Gabriel Cunningham sarcastically replied. Gabriel was dressed as inept electrician who looked liked he got fried after being severely shocked, which just made the whole situation ironically amusing. “Damn it” Both Victor and Maria shouted. “Naomi” said the terrified Alyssa, the adorable little eight year old girl who was sloppily wrapped up in bandages as she trying to dress up as a mummy. “It is alright Alyssa, I’m right here” Naomi calmly replied. Naomi and Markus seem to be the only calm ones at the moment, besides CR-SO1 of course. CR-SO1 was dressed up as Count Dracula.

A few moments later Naomi’s phone began to ring. Upon answering it, there was a blood curdling scream and a voice that said “No, don’t do it! Stop! Somebody help me….” and then the phone went dead. Everyone just looked at stared at Naomi. “What the hell was that?!” Victor yelled out. Both Naomi and Navel a.k.a “Little Guy” as Naomi calls him just stared at each other, knowing full well what it was, a call from the deceased from what was supposedly their last moment alive.
“Well now, I wonder what happened” Naomi said shortly after the called ended. “Maybe we should go check it out Dr. Kimishima” Navel replied. “We just to find a way to get the power back on before we can investigate.” “This is probably someone’s lame a** idea of a joke, most likely Tyler’s idea. Idiot.” Said Victor only just have Tyler shout “Hey! I’m right here you know!” “Whatever” Victor responded back.

Getting frustrated at the fact that the power has now failed, Maria went to look for a source that she can use for lighting, even if it was just temporary. When she turned around the corner, she saw something. “Rose? Rosalia?” She asking, thinking that she saw the ghostly figure of a girl that she once knew and saved from a fire at she accidently started back when she was living at the orphanage. Rosalia CR-SO1 adopted sister and the carrier of what was now known as the Rosalia virus. She was shot a few years back by her adopted father Albert after he contracted the disease and went mad. But after getting a closer look, Maria realized that this wasn’t Rosalia but a different ghost. “What do you want?” Maria angrily asked, going back to her usual self. “Go on, get!” She shouted but the ghostly figured just stared. “What do you want from me anyways?” She asked. “Leave…danger” was all the ghostly woman said. “Uh? Leave? Danger? What are you saying? What are you talking about?” but before Maria got a reply, the ghost had vanished, leaving Maria alone in the dark once again.

Part 2

Frightened, Tyler grabbed on to Victor, only to be pushed away by the grumpy man who was dressed as a Storm Trooper. “What the hell are you going you idiot?!” Victor shouted. “Get off me!” Tyler wasn’t surprised at Victor’s reaction as Victor was always like this, rude and arrogant, but Tyler still wished that Victor could be a little friendlier at least during times like this. “Sorry man” Tyler replied. “But you got to admit that this is creepy. “Like I said, it is probably just some stupid prank. I’m sure will be fine. Not like the power hasn’t been out before. Now if you don't let go of me, I used your handcuffs to cuff you to a nearby table" Tyler, who was wearing a cop uniform, didn’t really believe him. Deep down he had a bad feeling about all of this. First the sudden black out and then the strange phone call on Naomi’s phone, none of this seemed normal to the usually cheerful blonde.

Eventually with the help of a penlight that she borrowed from Gabriel more or less, Maria found a backup generator that helps use in case of emergencies and got the power back up. “Finally!” she muttered as she went to go back to where every else was. Normally she was pretty brave as she wanted to be seen and looked up to as a hero but she couldn’t help but shiver after seeing that ghost and what it was trying to tell her. She couldn’t help but wonder why the ghostly figure was trying tell her to leave and that they were in danger. “What danger?” She asked herself as she reached the room where the party was being held. “Is something the matter?” Asked Hank, who was dressed as batman, looked at her when he noticed that if was off in her own world. “Uh?” Maria muttered as she snapped back to reality “It’s nothing, just forget it.” She said. Maria just fixed her hat for her witches costume and walked over to Tomoe, who was dressed as evil Samara from The ring.

Meanwhile Naomi and Navel left the room as soon the lights came back on in order to take a look around the place. Both of them knew that the call wasn’t a prank as Naomi gets calls from the dead all the time. Naomi can hear what the was trying to say during their last moments alive and they thought it was best to check it out.

Taking a look around the place, Naomi spotted something on the floor. “Hey Little Guy, can you analyze something for me?” She asked. “Uh? Oh umm sure” Navel muttered, blushing every time she calls him “Little Guy” or pulls on his tie. He was dressed as a 1920's gangsters, Fedora hat and all while Naomi was wearing a very sexy burlesque outfit. “It appears to be blood” Navel spoke. “I know that” Naomi responded. “I want to know where it came from and from whom” She quickly told him. “I don’t know, it would take awhile to find a DNA match” Navel told her. He somehow was able to fake his way into the FBI and had been helping Naomi out with Forensic cases. “It’s alright” she replied. “The shall speak and I suppose we will know the truth sooner or later” “Right. Let’s keep looking around and see if we can find any more evidence” Said Navel.

While they were looking around, they heard a crash. “What was that?!” Naomi cried out. Suddenly Navel shouted “Look out!” and pushed her out of the way as a zombie like person with blood seeping out of every orifice of their body came room a nearby room, lunging at her. “Was that one of the victims of Rosalia?” Naomi question while getting a closer look.” You!” Naomi shouted both out of fear and anger. Standing right in front of her was Sandra Lieberman, the mad bomber. She was the one responsible for the deaths of Alyssa’s parents among other victims. Next to Naomi, Navel was shaking in anger. He never did get over the fact that one of her bombs destroyed a price guitar and he took that very personally. Sandra just gave them a wicked smile “missed me?” She spoke in a very seductive voice.

Naomi didn’t know what to do at this point. She was still angry at the woman who was now a walking corpse, though Naomi did blame herself for what happened. Neither she nor Navel ever faced a zombie before so she had to think of a plan quickly before things turned uglier than what it already was. Thinking quickly, she grabbed the gun that Navel had carefully concealed and shot at her. “UGH!” the zombie cried out. “Run!” She said as Naomi fled the scene as fast they could, not looking back.

Upon hearing the loud noise and what sounded like a distant gunshot, Tomoe walked out from where the party was to see what just happened and where the noise came from. Looking out of the corner of her eye, Tomoe saw a gurney moving on its own without being pushed. When she saw that it was slowly moving down the halls, she let out a scream. When Maria heard the scream and saw that it came from her friend Tomoe, she rushed over to her said. “Hey Tomoe, are you alright?” She said. “What happened? What the hell is going here?” “Oh it’s nothing” Tomoe said, still visually shaken from what she just saw. “It must be my imagination, nothing to worry about.” Tomoe didn’t want to admit the truth, afraid that people would being to think that she was crazy as no one else saw it and decided to just let it go for now.

Part 3

“Now what?” Naomi asked Navel, clearly out of breath. “We should go back to warn the others and try to get out of here. This place isn’t safe Dr. Kimishima” was Navel’s response. Soon they both went to meet up to where everyone was, though by now everybody was starting to get really nervous. “I may have fought against GUILT” Derek said. “But I never fought against ghost or zombies.” “Dr. Stiles” Angie began to speak. “We have to find a way to get everyone out of here safely. “Any ideas?” Asked Valerie, who was standing next to Markus and Elena. Leslie, one of the nurses at Caduceus who was wearing a little red riding hood costume walked over to them. “How about we pair up into a few different groups and split up?” “Agreed” came the response from CR-SO1. “There is safety in numbers and this way we will be able to go look for an exit.” “I knew this was a bad idea” said Victor. “I didn’t even want to come to this damn party in the first place!” “But I thought you said that this was just some stupid prank and that we will be fine?” Tyler asked him. “Just forget what I said!” Victor replied, getting a bit agitated.

After deciding to form four three to four different groups, they decided to go separate ways and quietly look for a way out. They first tried the elevators but they were shut down. “Look Dr. Stiles!” Leslie shouts. “There appears to be an empty stairwell!” she said as she pointed to a close door with a sign that said For emergencies only. “It’s locked” Derek mumbled. “No problem, I have an idea.” Replied Tyler who quickly went into a nearby room and took a paper clip from one of the research papers he found lying on a table. With the paperclip, he began to pick the lock and it a click can be heard. “You did it!” Angie shouted happily. Carefully they opened the door and stepped inside and began to walk down slowly. Half way down though, they ran into what appears to be another zombie. “Eek!” Screeched Angie as she knocked it down. Tyler took the handcuffs he had on him, which was part of his costume and cuffed the zombie to the railing while everyone rushed to get down to the bottom of the stairs.

When they opened the exit at the bottom, they saw that everyone had mange to get out of the building. “We made it” Angie said as she sighed from relief. “And not a moment too soon” said Victor.

After the very long, strange and freighting night that they all endured, they quickly decided to never throw a Halloween bash again…and in a hospital no less. After all, hospitals deal with death every single day so they shouldn’t have been surprised at all the events that took place that evening, especially since they all seen some pretty strange things throughout their careers in the medical field but even so they still would never image that was meant to be a fun filled night would end in terror. Now they knew why many people were afraid of hospitals, they are truly a haunted place. The director of Caduceus at the time, Sidney Kasal, had put up a warning sign declaring it to be haunted.

Note* It is said that Caduceus USA had moved from Angeles Bay to Maryland and the Manuel for Trauma Team said that Resurgam First Care is located in Maryland though one part said it was located in Portland which is in Maine. Since that is most likely a typo and for my convenience, both will be located in Maryland.
