Hello! I'm really looking forward to celebrating Samhain this year as I will be able to do so on the 31st. The last two years, I've had to do it November 1st due to Rocky Horror.
As usual, going to celebrate with my mate and my coven. This year, I plan on doing a simple rememberence ritual before the coven meets. During mine, I plan on honoring my grandfather and my first familiar who is still with me in spirit.

Idk if I have time to do much for Samhain this year. Too much school stuff. Still, I will try to cook some special food just for that day as well as some spiced cider. It'll at least be something. :3

Fun fact: An old way to ward off evil spirits during this season is to carve a turnip to have a face and to be a little lantern, which is what people now do to pumpkins, making Jack-o-lanterns. All I know is that these little guys are adorable and I'd love to make one! But for now, I will make a lantern from a pumpkin.

Samhain Fun Facts: ~Bobbing for apples was at one time used as a means of divination. ~Rituals often center around giving honor to ancestors and asking for their guidance. Measures are taken to keep out harmful or negative spirits. ~In the Celtic traditions, November 1 is considered New Year’s day, so many pagans regard this day as a good time for completing old projects or habits and starting new ones. Divination is also commonly performed at this time. ~Some pagans put a lit candle in the window to help their ancestors find their way home on this night and an extra place is set at the table in invitation for them to join in Samhain dinner. ~Another surviving tradition is Jack-O-Lanterns. Some believe it stems from the story of Bran the Blessed. In Celtic mythology, the Celtic god Bran ordered that when he died, his head be cut off and buried facing France to protect the country from invaders. Pagans carve faces into gourds and place a candle inside as a symbol of Bran’s head. It is often used for protection. Some older rituals call for a "circle of heads". This is what they are referring to. They are still sometimes used by modern day pagans for the same purpose. They are also occasionally used on Samhain at the door of the house to keep out unwelcome visitors and harmful spirits. And now you know...^_^

The Irish name Samhain is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end".[2] A harvest festival with ancient roots in Celtic polytheism, it was linked to festivals held around the same time in other Celtic cultures, and continued to be celebrated in late medieval times. Due to its date it became associated with the Christian festival All Saints' Day, and greatly influenced modern celebration of Halloween. heart

Have a blessed Samhain everyone.  Apple Magic At the heart of the Celtic Otherworld grows an apple tree whose fruit has magical properties. Old sagas tell of heroes crossing the western sea to find this wondrous country, known in Ireland as Emhain Abhlach, (Evan Avlach) and in Britain, Avalon. At Samhain, the apple harvest is in, and old hearthside games, such as apple-bobbing, called apple-dookin’ in Scotland, reflect the journey across water to obtain the magic apple.
