So this will likely be a short series of short stories as a backstory for some characters I want to introduce. I just wrote it tonight and haven't reread it, but I am really excited and I just wanted to post it now! lolz... I guess I should post elsewhere too >_> poop, fine Raven I'll do it... but probably not everywhere... but it has been like a month since I have posted in Greater Horizons... and lets not even talk about In a Mirror Darkly.... or those other rps.... ANYWAY, so here is the story, tell me what think? Ask questions, I am pretty sure I am not clear enough on some issues... oh, and it takes place in the Aluin rp world.
Eve was first awoken by the shouts and screams from the outskirts on the outer edge of the village. She forced herself to not cry, her mommy told her that there was no need to cry, that she would always take care of her. From her window Eve could see the glow of fire growing and a moment later Eve's mother rushed hurriedly into the room. Eve reached out for a hug to be comforted, and her mother hugged her back and pulled Eve out of bed. "What's wrong mommy," Eve asked, trying to sound brave, as brave as a 5 year old could be at least.
Her mother paused, not wanting to scare the child, but she had to know what was going on. "Greenskins have raided the village, but the men will be able to handle it, but we have to get out of here and to a safer place," Eve's mother put Eve down, "so put something on, and get your shoes, quickly."
Eve nodded, she was now quite scared at hearing that Greenskins, Orcs, the dreaded scourge of all that lived under the sky, were attacking. She quickly through on a cloth dress, and slipped her feet into her shoes. Once her shoes were on her mother grabbed Eve's hand and led her out of her bedroom. Just as they left Eve grabbed Muggles, her most cherished treasure, a stuffed rabbit.
They moved through the main room of their small 3 room house in a flash. Eve's mother stopped and peered out the door to make sure the street was clear then they dashed outside and started running towards the townhall.
As they moved they heard more screams in the night, much closer than before, too close. Eve's mother stopped, and knelt and looked into her daughter's eyes. Worry and panic were on both of their faces, but they had no time to panic, panicking would only get you killed. "Eve, you know the way to the townhall?" it was a rhetorical question, Eve had been there many times before.
"Yes mommy," Eve said.
"Good, go there, that is where everyone else will be, I- forgot something, but I will be right behind you. Run to the townhall and don't look back, no matter what," Eve's mother said.
Eve almost started to cry.
"I will be right behind you," her mother said reassuringly, she kissed Eve on the head, "now go!"
Eve nodded and ran, clutching Muggles close to her chest with both arms. She got about 50 feet when she heard a shriek of terror that she would never forget for the rest of her life. Even though she was told not to Eve turned around to see who screamed, even though the sinking feeling in her stomach already told her who it was.
Down the street Eve's mother lay on the ground in a pool of her own blood, her body torn and ripped viciously, and above her body stood a massive, green Orc. He held in his hand a crude, serrated, and bloody sword. He grinned at the little girl in amusement and started walking towards her.
Eve's mind screamed at her to run, but her feet were frozen to the ground. All she could do was stare at the Orc's blade, she watched the blood drip from it's edge, her mother's blood.
More Orcs and Goblins too came around the corner and followed the large Orc that had killed Eve's mother, staying back to let their Boss get the kill. The Greenskins were now 30 feet away, and still Eve could not flee. All Eve could do was force her eyes shut, hoping that that would make the beasts go away. Then she heard the Orc roar so loudly it echoed throughout the wooded vale the Village was in.
It took Eve a moment to realize that that roar was not a roar of attack, but instead a roar of agony. She opened her eyes and saw the Orc clutching an arrow protruding from his eye. Blood ran down his arm from his agonizing wound and he glared in hatred at something behind Eve. Eve's feet finally worked and she turned around to see a tall man who was so beautiful that he almost seemed to glow in the dark of the night. He had long blond hair that was so light colored it was almost white, he wore ornate, shining steel armor with a green cloak on his shoulders, on his hip was sheathed a beautiful curved sword and in his hands was a bow, pulled tight with another arrow ready to fire at the horrid greenskins.
From behind Eve she heard the injured Orc yell to his comrades, "bring me his head!"
The other Orcs and Goblins let out a battle cry and charged at the beautiful man with the bow. Eve turned back to see the greenskins rushing at them. In the blink of an eye 2 Orcs were hit, both in the neck, and they both fell to the ground, gasping for air that would never come. Eve saw out of the corner of her eye the beautiful man now standing beside her. He continued shooting at the Orcs with his bow, ever shot he fired was true and felled another Orc or Goblin. Then when the Orcs were within just 10 feet the beautiful man swung his bow over his shoulder and drew his sword from it's sheath. He bolted forward, slashing at an Orc who was unprepared for such a fast attack and then he stabbed at another off to the side. Both of the Orcs fell to the ground. Eve let out a yelp as she saw the beautiful man surrounded by several Orcs and Goblins, the man looked at her and smiled in amusement, then his face became stern as he weaved in and out dodging the Orcs' attacks without a second thought. The dull witted Orcs blinked in confusion as their blades only cut air, and while they stood their confused the beautiful man slashed and stabbed at them with his sword with as much precision as when he had been shooting with his bow.
Although the fight was bloody and horrible Eve continued to watch, to her it was almost like a dance that the beautiful man was performing and the horrible Orcs and Goblins fell to the ground all around him. One Goblin stepped back from the fight, realizing that if he fought he would probably die. Then the Goblin looked over at Eve and let out a yell as he charged at her with his crude spear. Eve screamed, the beautiful man glanced over at her for a moment. Just as the Goblin was about to catch her he collapsed to the ground whimpering and holding onto his ankles which and spontaneously started bleeding. Eve was amazed, had the man just hexed the Goblin? She looked back at the man who was still fighting the Orcs and Goblins, but as the dead around him continued to pile up, only leaving 4 Orcs and 7 Goblins Eve knew he would win.
As the man continued to fight another Orc fell to the ground, but this one had been untouched by the man, instead his ankles had been slashed from behind just like the Goblin. Another Goblin fell for the same reasons too, and another Goblin's neck spontaneously started spraying blood. A few moments later the beautiful man stood facing only one more Orc. The Orc looked at all of his fallen comrades, he turned and looked for his injured Boss, but the Boss was long gone. Then the Orc turned to look back at the beautiful man and gave out a pitiful whimper. The beautiful man showed no mercy and he slashed at the Orc, disemboweling him in one stroke. The beautiful man stood up straight and looked around to make sure he had not missed any Orcs, then he cleaned his blade of blood and put it back in it's sheath.
The beautiful man turned to look at Eve, his face was full of sadness and empathy. At that moment reality settled in: Eve's mother was dead, she was all alone in the world. She hugged Muggles and fell to her knees and no matter how hard she tried she could not stop the tide of tears that ran out of her eyes. The beautiful man took a step forward, but some voices from behind Eve stopped him. Eve spun around, scared more Orcs were coming, but instead it was the villages warriors, finally come to the rescue. They saw Eve and all of the dead Orcs around her and they ran forward.
"Isn't that Hexe's girl," one of the men said.
"Yeah... Eve," another replied.
"Gods, Eve, are you alright," one of the men asked as he knelt down next to her.
Eve couldn't talk, she was overwhelmed with grief, instead she turned around pointed at the beautiful man, but the man was gone. Eve didn't understand, why did he leave?
The other men picked their way through the dead Orcs and Goblins, "gods, who did this...."
"I don't know, but if these Orcs got to the town hall we would have lost everyone..."
"Look," one of the men said, "it's Ms. Hexe..."
Eve started to cry even more when the men found her mother's dead body.

The beautiful man watched the small girl from the shadows. He wanted to do something for her, to make her tears go away, but he knew there was no way to bring her mother back. The man sighed, "let's go Ricket."
"Right-o boss!"
The man turned and left the village, unseen by everyone he passed. When he reached the woods he started into a full run. There was nothing he could do to comfort the girl, but he could avenge her mother and all the others who were killed this night. The man turned and followed the sounds of the retreating Orcs. Ricket was right behind him, having no trouble keeping up. "Ricket, get Gwindalor, I feel it is time he had some fun too," the man said to his comrade.
Ricket nodded in agreement, "gotcha, I'll be right back with ole' Gwiney." Ricket went off to go fetch Gwindalor.
The man continued to chase the Orcs, their crude speech was getting quite loud now: they were close. The man took a deep breath of the fresh, night air. His hand brushed some leaves and the tree shivered in response. The man whispered words that no man could understand and many more trees shivered in response. "Come my friends, tonight you shall have your revenge on those who have broke your boughs and felled your kin," the man said.
The trees moaned and groaned in eager anticipation, now that they were finally able to do what they had for so long only dreamed of doing. The man and his small army crept silently forward, and stalked the Orcs from afar. All of a sudden a strong gust of wind burst through the woods, ruffling the leaves of the trees and blowing the man's long, blond hair about his face and his pointed ears. The man grinned, it was time.
