This falls under knitting, but it seems like people don't respond in the "knitting help" subforum thingy. Well, I understand how to pick up stitches, but do I do it vertically or horizontally? I thought picking up stitches to knit an arm or a leg for a plushie would be easier than knitting them separately and sewing them on. Basically, I want to pick up stitches in the middle of my work. I'm not using DPNs, I'm using circular needles using the magic loop method. I hope someone can help.

Do you mean for the arms? If you're trying to shape the arms, you'd want to cast on first one side, knit to the other side, and then cast on more. Afterwards you would sew up the holes along the bottom of the arms and then stuff.
