St. Mark Slums. The rat infested, damp, dank cobblestone ghetto located in the western reaches of The Nightside is host to it's fair share of unsavory characters. From Banshees to Trolls, this district, hidden when the moon light wanes, attracts creatures of all sorts. Even the occasional vampire or lycanthrope have been known to make an appearance. As the right's of man are not recognized here, humans living in the St. Mark Slums have been sold into slavery, where they toil for the will of their supernatural captors. Visiting humans, Beware. Lest they too fall victim to the Beholder's slave trade. NOTE: This Home is made for unlimited residents. Quality of the the character's living arrangements are based on race: Human: Slave Shack or [Guest] Supernatural Creature: Any Other: Any

GaiaName: panterajunkie1692 Character Name: William & VictoriaRace: Human William and Victoria awoke side by side on a ruined wire spring bed and matress. The room they were in was small, cramped and appeared to be made of all sorts of different scrap materials. In one corner a small table with a wornout desklamp provided the only light in the room. "What's going on, Will?" Victoria asked as she sat up and began to scan the room. "I'm not sure." He returned. "We were walking back, when. . ."Their discussion was interupted by a orb shaped creature with one piercing eye and several smaller eyes on tendrals that burst in the flimsy door. "Ah, you rats are finally awake." The beholder spoke in the thickest scottish accent this side of wales. "I was beginning to wonder what that goblin gave ya' to put you out."

William jumped up and put himself between himself and Victoria. "Who are you?!" He shouted, "What are you?"The drooling and rancid smelling beast was something William had never seen, thought, or dreamed of. With a flick of his eyelid over his largest eye William was pushed back onto the bed. Victoria was set down in a similar fashion next to him. "Sit down, and shut up. I'll make this as painless as you want it to be. You both belong to me now. Welcome to Nighside, specifically the St Mark Slums. Here your going to do what I say when I say, or Ill feed you to ogres. Got it?"William wanted to protest but judging from the mythical appereance of their captor, he believed the beast might carry out such a threat. Victoria was more worried about being eaten by the beholder in front of her. She clutched on the William and hid her eyes behind his shoulder. "Hey don't sweat it." Glasgow continued. "I've got the nicest establishment on the Beholder's Bazaar all set up and all you have to do is run the place. Easy work, free room and board. Your all set. Now follow me, Ill show you to the shop so you can get to work." With that the creature turned around and floated out of the door. [Continued in The Beholder's Bazaar. . .]

Cristo dropped her two bags that she had with her on the street in front of her feet and crossed her arms as she stared at the huge St. Mark's Slums that stood before her, tilting her head back slightly as she scaled the building with her storm-gray eyes, they looked as if she was blind but she was not. Snatching up her bags she heaved a sighed as she looked at the bag of money that she would be using in order to take up temporary residence here until she could get something of her own. Growling softly biting a pale pink lip that was almost white, her skin color the palest white as her hair because of her Auphe heritage, Auphes were known for their cruelty and their large appetites. Glowering unhappily at the entrance to the slums she heaved it open before stepping inside, Looking around she shook her head some before calling out, "Hello???, Is anyone here?" Probably not the smartest thing to do but hey she could set you on fire pretty easily if you tried to hurt her so it was all good she thought. Placing one bag on top of her feet while the other was strapped over her shoulder she crossed her arms looking around heatedly, Annoyed and tired she tapped one foot under her bag.

William & Victoria After a grueling workday, the exhausted couple trudged their way down the secure path leading to the slave cages in the slums. The pair stayed huddled together and tried to avoid other creatures at all costs. A task that was easier said than done. William was scanning the distant surroundings and Victoria was deep in thought gazing at the ground. As a result, the pair nearly plowed a young girl over her luggage. Both startled, they quickly helped her back up and appologized. "Are you alright?" Victoria asked. William followed. "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention."

Mizu stopped in front of the building looking up at it. "this is where im staying huh?" Mizu smiled a bit then walked towards the door. he wore a backpack that looked heavy and was dragging a wheeled suitcase, the suitcase was twice his size. he walked in front of a counter and looked around the place staying where he stood. "it is strange..." after a while of waiting he put gold pieces on the counter and walked toward a empty room with the door open. "i choose here" he said throwing his stuff on the center floor. "i wonder if theres a bath around here..."

"ACK!!" she fell forwards over her luggage as she was plowed over by the two humans, A soft growl exited her throat as she was helped up rubbing her head some, "ow.." she eyed the two of them before clenching her fist then taking a deep breath and exhaling dusting herself off as she gave a sweet smile relaxing, it was just an accident after all. Tilting her head to the side as she moved her bag to stand beside her while the other hung on her shoulder. "Thats alright, I guess I shouldn't have just been standing around in peoples way" She smiled sheepishly running slender black gloved fingers through her hair, Glancing towards another who came through the door, She sighed softly turning back to William and Victoria "you wouldn't happen to know the owner of this place would you?"

William smirked and Victoria just looked at the ground. Whoever this person was, she was just as new to the slums as they were. She wasn't a slave, Victoria thought. Her clothing was much too clean and nice for her to have been bought off at one of Glasgow's sickening auctions. If that was so, she wasn't human.
The couple's first day running The Paper Cut and the freeroam through the market had given them a treasure trove of information, factual information that had been considered myth topside. From that, they learned of many of the creatures that roam the Nightside. In those, several look deceptively human. So much so that interaction with humans topside is often effortless. Some of these were Nymphs, Sprites, Vampires, and Lycans. This girl's pale grey eyes gave her away; she was a nymph, or at least mostly. "No one owns these slums. Squater's rights are the law here. You just have to grab what you can before some one else grabs it." William said before leaning in to whisper. "Stay away from the Hotels." He leaned back out and thought about it for a moment. "Well, Glasgow own's the bazaar, but thats only because he has the workforce to do it. That place is one of the few areas that have some level of order in St. Mark." Victoria looked back at the ground and shivered. William rubbed her arm before looking at the ground. "Listen, we have to get back to the slave pens. I'm William. This is Victoria. It was a pleasure to meet you. We'll see you at the Bazaar if you plan on purchasing anything."

GaiaName: Ouji Saiyaku Character Name: Devon Silver Race: Fallen Engel (Supposed to be Spelled like That)
Devon looked at the building in front of him. He knew what he needed was in there, but he didn't know who to talk to. Usually, he'd just go to the bazaar and talk to Glasgow, but he HAD said he was particularly busy today. Now, only to find the owners. He looked around, then shifted his coat. It was rather tight, but he needed it for business. He walked in, and went straight for the counter, hoping to encounter someone soon.

Cristo's brow raised at William's smirk, She smiled a toothy smile at him letting the six fangs (four on top two on bottom) show more then before, they were jagged on the edges slightly like a shark's but curved like a wolf's. "Uh-huh. I'm pretty sure I can handle myself around here a lot better then you could if you got out there" She nodded towards the door, "Better to be in the care of Glasgow then a vampire or something.".
She tilted her head to the side before tugging out a sweater it was a dark pink with light purple swirls on it, She handed it to Victoria, "it'll get cold at night, So if you wear this then you wont ever get cold" She winked at her before picking up her bags and heading through the building to snatch her a temporary place to stay.

William's gut sank, as he noticed the teeth. His blood pressure spiked momentarily as his curse lashed at him from within. That cleared up what made up the rest of this girl. She was auphe as well. William scolded himself from within for not recognizing the scent sooner. William glanced up at the moon. Waxing gibbous, less than a week until it happens again.
Victoria looked up and accepted the sweater. She looked at William for an approving glance before putting it on. Victoria, wrapped up tighly, showed probably the first smile since they'd got there. That alone was enough to make William thankful. He was still slightly confused, from what he'd heard, Auphe are typically cruel, perhaps the nymph side of her balanced the malace. Victoria shifted her smile over to Cristo. "Oui, Thank you, Miss?" Her french accent was beginning to peak through the oxford pronounciation of her words as she waited for her kind samaritan's name.

Cristo's smile widened as she watched William, It was known that no one liked the Auphe mainly because they had a tendency to eat everyone no matter what you were unless you were auphe yourself. She tilted her head to the side slightly as she let the smile fade to a smaller sweeter one as she let her gaze slide to Victoria, Clearing her throat a bit as if to due away with an accent, she'd lived in many places and she was familiar with french.
The accent was cute but if she let herself go hers would be too thick, "Ah, Vous ĂȘtes les bienvenus*" She smiled before taking a bow and placing her bags by a door, "I'll make sure Glasglow don't treat you too badly oui?" She nodded before peaking the door open to see if anyone was inside.
*you are very welcome.

William and Victoria remianed outside with a smile. After seeing the kind stranger disappear inside William put his arm around Victoria and began to guide them away from the building the girl was checking out. "See, I told you that not everyone here is a monster." William reassured Victoria. "And by all rights, she could've had us for lunch if it suited her, so thats saying something."Victoria nodded while absorbing the comforting warmth of the sweater, "She was nice, but she didn't tell me her name.""It wouldn't surprise me if that was intentional. This doesn't seem like a place to go if you want people to know who or where you are."The pair continued until they reached the cages. The slave cages were more a gated section of the slums than a traditonal cage. It came equiped with makeshift housing, a bar that Glasgow more than gladly catered, and a market that sold left over supplies from the bazaar. The slaves had no money persay, but they had developed an inter community currency to help regulate the distribution of supplies. William and Victoria made their way through the groups and clusters of other humans of all ages, spending the only amounts of free time relaxing in whatever way seemed best. They found their home in no time and when they walked in they found that it had been refurnished somewhat. The bed now had a sheet, two blankets, and two pillows. In an old but tall box serving as a closet, were clothing of all styles and sizes. Underneath the hung clothes were several black trashbags. They appeared to be full of more mis match clothing. Nearly every article was old, and worn but clean. I was clear they were to pick what fit and discard the rest. A new wardrobe in a way. The old desk now had stationary and a hardbound book along with the working lamp. Mail was out of the question, but at least the pair could keep a journal or draw to pass the days. Victoria slipped out of the sweater as William sighed and sat down on the bed. What a day. Woke up in a strange city, sold into slavery, and spent the majority of the day conversing with monsters William thought didn't exist. At least the bed was comfortable. William held out his hand, which Victoria gladly accepted with a smile. She climbed into the bed and moved behind him to the side closest to the wall. With a relaxed sigh she laid back and shut her eys. William turned around and smiled at the beauty nearly asleep on the bed. He lied down facing her and threw one of the blankets over their waists. He was glad that at least he still had her. It made it all seem bearable. As he thought about it, he realized this was the first time the two had ever been alone like this. They could be alone somewhat when they'd spend their off campus days together but they were still in public. It was oppourtunity for a truly intimate moment, unfortunatly the current unpleasantness put a damper on any sort of romanic notion. Instead, he leaned over and kissed Victoria passionatly, as he had done before many times before. Her eyes were still closed, yet she wasn't quite asleep. She embraced his kiss before whispering, "Je vous aime*, Will."He rolled over and blew out the lantern resting on an empty indusrtial cable spool before reaching for her hand in the dark. Her deep breathing told William she had drifted off already. "I love you, too, Mon Lune*." His gave another peck to the top of her hand before pulling his side of the blanket up and allowing himself to drift to sleep. * Je vous aime: I love you. * Mon lune: My moon. Cristo sighed as she claimed the building, running just about everyone in it out aside from the ones brave enough to stay and try not to be eaten. She smiled shaking her head walking into a bedroom, It was intact at least, shaking her head again she began to clean it up. Straightening things, cleaning the hardwood floors so that they shined and repainting the walls, That was what pretty much consisted of the things in one bag, it held all different cleaning and polishing, painting and refurnishing tools in it.
She smiled at her handiwork before putting clean sheets on the bed after cleaning out the mattress of bed-bugs and put her nice comforter on it, The sheets were silky and red and the comforter was thick gold colored silk plus fluff on the inside for stuffing so it would be warm. Sighing contently as she placed her oddly enough white cottoned pillows on the bed with white pillow cases on it she plopped down laying down and staring up at the ceiling, A new day would be coming. Dozing off to sleep with a fanged smile on her lips as she had also installed a few new locks on her bedroom door.
