My personal favorite is Reaver. I have no idea why, really--he's a total jerk, he's scum of the earth, and he enjoys it. I think it might be that he's so opposite of what we expect a hero to be, and he's the most fleshed-out character in the game.
But I digress. What's your favorite character in the second game and why?

im probably the only person who loathed Reaver.
my favorite would probably have to be... Theresa.
so mysterious, and much more powerful than she appears.
i wouldnt be surprised if she ends up being a final boss in the Fable series.

You wouldn't be the only one to hate Reaver--there are many people out there who think he's a total butt-munch, myself included. I just love him all the more for it. xd
And a lot of people are saying that they suspect Theresa of secretly being evil, manipulating the future in her favor. I don't know what to think of that. While she is certainly powerful, I don't think I'd like to see her as a boss. I like her too much. xd

by "loathe Reaver" i mean "probably the worst character in the series."
i dont dislike him for how he is or what he does, i dislike him because he was almost completely irrelevant to the story.
i mean hell, he only has around 15 minutes or so of screen time and the only thing he does is run his mouth off and get captured.
of course, this is all only my opinion..
itll be a fine day if youre able to kill him in Fable III.
Theresa is just... devious.
she manipulated the entire events of Fable II right from the beginning.
i was particularly interested in these notes about her on the Fable wiki:
When going through The Hero of Strength, Theresa complains about Hammer being a pacifist, stating that she will have to find a way to make Hammer fight. Soon afterward, Hammer's father is killed by one of Lucien's men and Theresa soon arrives to convert Hammer to her side. This implies Theresa might have had something to do with Lucien's agent being at the Temple of the Light.
During "Childhood", it is Theresa who convinces Rose and the Hero to buy the music box, as they otherwise wouldn't have. Either Murgo or Theresa must have informed Lucien who bought the music box, as no one else is aware. In "See the Future", she is also revealed to have been Murgo's supplier, meaning she had possibly forseen and ensured the events of Fable II from Rose's death to Lucien's downfall, merely to gain the Tattered Spire.
As the Heroes are awakening their powers to call forth the weapon that will defeat Lucien, Theresa suddenly vanishes and is replaced by Lucien. Hammer asks what he did with her, to which he replies, "I merely listened." In one of the pages of Lucien's diary he states he is having dreams about a hooded woman. This hints at Theresa manipulating Lucien in building the Spire.

Hm, a valid point on Theresa. I'm now rather suspicious of her myself.
As far as Reaver goes, I disagree--yes, he was only there for a little bit, his only purpose to complete the set of Heroes. But he is a very well-fleshed out character, and we will be seeing loads more of him in Fable III. From what I understand he plays a big part in the second half of the game, though just what part that is, I have no clue.
Also, I think we should have several choices as to what to do with Reaver, as well as every other important NPC in the game. Become a business partner, kill, sleep with, never see him again for whatever reason, etc. Whatever you want. That way everyone is happy.

I'd like Reaver a lot more if I hadn't played FFXII first--now he just makes me think he's basically Evil Balthier. Not that this is a bad thing; it's just that I've seen Reaver's type before.
Otherwise, I'd pick either Hannah or Garth--Hannah because she's pretty deep on violence/nonviolence, and Garth because... ohhh, how do I put it. He's just plain suave. I don't know how else to describe it right now.
And also, don't forget that Theresa didn't so much as say "Sorry" for sending you off to the Spire for ten years. She's just like "OKAY YOU GOT GARTH GREAT SMELL YA LATER" and poofs.

Am I the only one who wants to be best ******** friends ever with Garth?
Hammer is second, and Reaver had his funny parts but aside from that he was a douche. Also, I liked that weird Disembodied voice in the Howling Halls that belonged to a balverine. Does anyone know if that was actually the balverine from the "Hero's Tale" from that pre-Fable II-release online game thing?

Garth was pretty cool, probably second favorite character in II.
pre-ordered III from Best Buy mostly because i prefer having his sword(which will be magical in some way, making it useful regardless of alignment) over Reaver's(which will most likely only be useful if youre evil).
that, and it looks more badass imo.

I'd have 2 say that Reaver's my favorite. Second favorite is Barnum (the dude with the camera thingy at the beginning). Third favorite is Hammer.

Topsy Turvy Gypsy I don't understand why everyone likes Garth so much. I mean, yeah, he can fling spells around like nobody's business, but he seems so... bland, in my opinion. His character just wasn't as rich as the rest. Even Barnum had more personality. No offense to anyone who likes Garth, but I just don't share that opinion. There's just something about an old mage who lives in a ruined tower in the middle of a forest who at the end of the game goes on an adventure with his polar opposite that strikes me as "This guy must have infinite patience" that makes me want to be friends with the guy. But you're right, they really didn't flesh him out enough in the game.

D8 Garth is also pretty reserved, come to think of it. Like you generally won't hear much emotion come out of him. Like a typical intellectual, he's cool and collected. So in that way, yes, he can come across as bland. ...Now that I think about it, anyone remember Charles, on that one quest late in the game into that Hollow-Men-filled-tomb? I actually liked him. It was nice to see another halfway-competent adventurer out on the roads. I didn't even mind the "Mama's Boy" bit at the end because how often do you see an adventurer's parent(s)?

Yeah, Charles was cool--he at least could fight along side you well enough, unlike most other characters (aside from the other three heroes). It was nice not to feel like I had to protect someone the whole time. And he was funny and dapper, and it was all in all a really fun quest. smile
As far as Garth goes, I understand that he's reserved and doesn't show a whole lot of emotion. Theresa doesn't show a lot of emotion either, but she at least has a history and a personality. But there's very little backstory to Garth. So, he comes from Samarkand. He's a Mage. He worked for Lucien for a time. But we don't know what exactly that entails--there's not even a single clue, even in Lucien's diaries-- and we don't get to know him at all personality-wise. Personality and emotion are not the same thing, and I find that Garth is lacking in both departments, at least when compared to the other characters.
