Hi, everyone. I'm Yanueh, your new vice-captain. smile

After looking at the original character creation system, I realized we had some problems - the first being that it forced you to choose a specific class. While classes are useful for video games, people in the real world don't fit so tightly into "classes" and there's no reason why you should have to force a non-videogame character into a "class," anyway - especially since where videogame classes are designed with combat in mind, whereas forum RPGs are more story-oriented.

I also noticed that it was far too easy for power-players and munchkins to exploit, so I started thinking up an alternate system that would help prevent this.

It's not finished (so it needs your input!), but here are the basic mechanics:
_________________________________________________

You get a certain number of points to spend on a stat, depending on your character's age. None may go higher than 6.

Children: 10 points
Teenagers: 16 points
Adults: 20 points

STRENGTH: Your strength. Useful for wielding swords and lifting large bags of dog food. 1 would be a wimp; 6 would be Mr. Universe.
COORDINATION: Hand-eye coordination. Useful for playing video games and shooting things. 1 would be a klutz; 6 would be a trick-shooter.
INTELLIGENCE: Your ability to work out puzzles and learn new information. 1 would be a dunce; 6 would be Stephen Hawking.
SPEED: How fast you can move. 1 being an overweight couch potato and 6 being a track star.
DEFENSE: How impervious you are to blows. 1 being extremely delicate 6 being built like a rock.
LOOKS: How attractive you are. 1 being pretty ugly and 6 being exceptionally attractive.

SKILL POINTS: Depending on your character's age, you get a certain number of points to divide between at least six different skills. Any skill that would realistically rely on a particular stat cannot have a level that exceeds the stat it would use. For example, using a broadsword relies on strength; if your Strength stat is at 4, your broadsword skill can be no higher than 4.

Children: 10 points
Teenagers: 16 points
Adults: 20 points

Here are some suggestions:

Acrobatics
Animal Connection
Archery
Ballet
Carpentry
Clothesmaking
Cooking
Elemental Control
Fortunetelling
Hairdressing
Healing Magic
Horseback Riding
Martial Arts
Magic Flight
Magic Shield
Painting
Piano
Potion-Making
Second Language
Singing
Shapeshifting
Stealing
Swimming
Swordmastery
Telekinesis

Skills range from 1-6 points; only one skill may be at level 6, and no more than two skills may be at level 5.

1 - N00b
2 - Novice
3 - Average Skill
4 - Above Average
5 - Expert
6 - Master

Let's say the skill was cooking:
1 - Your character knows how to make things like toast and peanut butter and jam sandwiches. (Most children would have a Cooking skill of 1. razz )
2 - Your character can cook microwave meals.
3 - Your character can cook decent meals on a stove, but will have to resort to a cookbook for anything particularly interesting.
4 - Your character can cook above-average meals; won't need to look in a cookbook except for things like special holiday dishes.
5 - Your character knows how to cook an extremely wide variety of dishes and would be able to recognize most spices.
6 - Someone with a skill this high would probably be a world-class chef.

Animal Connection:
1 - Dogs and cats tend to respond to you better. The dog who yaps at everyone else will sit quietly while you pet it.
2 - Animals really like you. Housebreaking your pets and teaching them tricks is a cinch for you.
3 - Animals respond very well to you and tend to calm down in your presence. Your influence on them is almost hypnotic.
4 - You can influence any domestic/tame animal to do things for you, such as getting a pet monkey to bring you keys or a horse to buck its rider, if the horse isn't too loyal to its rider.
5 - Your influence extends even to wild animals. They will usually do what you ask, although their mind is still their own and they may spook and drop what they were doing if something scares them.
6 - You can completely control the mind of one large animal (eg, a horse) or several small animals (eg, rats). (Smarter creatures, such as dragons and most humanoids, cannot be controlled.)

Shapeshifting:
1 - You can change your appearance to minor effect; eg, altar the shape of your facial features to a minor degree.
2 - You can altar your facial features a bit more, sprout moles, and give yourself pointy ears or a Bajoran nose.
3 - You can morph your body to look like a completely different member of your own species OR give yourself a Klingon head ridge.
4 - Make changes like turning your hands into claws or giving yourself bird feet - but not at the same time.
5 - You can change into anything so long as it's humanoid and approximately the same size as you.
6 - You can take on the appearance of any creature approximately the same size as you, or turn into a larger/smaller version of a small/large creature. (If you turn into a rabbit, it'll be a suspiciously you-sized rabbit.)

Telekinesis:
1 - Move small objects, like thimbles and silverware.
2 - Move slightly larger objects, like cats and keyboards.
3 - Move objects about the size of tables and chairs.
4 - Move rather large objects, like sofas.
5 - Move even bigger objects, like vending machines and cows.
6 - Move really big objects, like trucks and elephants.

BUT I WANT MOAR SKILL/STAT POINTS!
If you want more skill or stat points, then add a flaw to your character. Each flaw is worth one point. Flaws include...

-A phobia
-An allergy
-No arms
-Socially inept (ie, likely to pick his/her nose in public or give really stupid love letters)
-Colorblindness
-Illiteracy

THESE DO NOT COUNT AS FLAWS
-Phobia of something your character probably won't encounter
-An allergy to something he/she probably won't encounter
-A lack of skill in something your character probably won't actually need to do, eg, play the cc.
-Being "weak" to anything the average human is "weak" to. EG, getting injured when someone punches you in the jaw is not a flaw.

BIOLOGICAL ADVANTAGES
You may pick up to three of these.

Change Skin Color
Elemental Breath (single element only)
Gills
Ginormous (adds 2 to Strength and Defense, but you won't fit into the local tavern.)
Impervious To Heat
Impervious To Cold
Night Vision
Squishy (squidge yourself through tiny spaces octopus-style)
Tiny (detracts 2 from Strength and Defense, but you can fit into all sorts of neat places)
Turn into one other creature (must not have Shapeshifting as an ability already)
Tentacles
Wings

Maybe the way I have created the class system isn't well done yet. I probably forgot about a few things to add. But anyhow the way this guild was created was base on World of warcraft. So some classes are from there well some are just some that people will like. Taking out the classes will cause an unstable guild in my opinion. I was the one who started this guild but give it to Nowe. And Since this guild was made it had classes. It was way worse before i clean up the classes and races. Better now. Well so taking from the beginning of creation of guild is a hard thing cause it been their for awhile.... Some of the slightest thing it trouble some because people of the guild will need to fix something fo theirs. So making a point taking class from guild will cause a huge foundation to disappear will create an unstable guild. Out of my decision I want to keep classes in. Things will be talk over later.

You can recreate pretty much any class you like with the point system. For example:

Ron the Warrior

STATS
St: 5
C: 3
I: 3
Sp: 2
D: 3
L: 4

SKILLS
Swordmastery: 5
Cooking: 3
Horseback Riding: 4
Extra Language (1): 1
Extra Language (2): 1
Animal Connection: 3
Singing: 2
First Aid: 2

FLAWS:
Socially Inept (tends to make terrible pickup lines)
Red-Deficiency Colorblindness

Ron's great at wielding a sword and knows a few useful words and phrases in Elvish and Dwarvish (such as "hello," "goodbye," and "where's the beer?"). He's also a decent cook, having plenty of experience while on the trail, and can sing somewhat off-key in taverns in the evening. However, his pickup lines are terrible and his colorblindness means he won't be able to tell the Blue Gem of Destruction from the Purple Gem of Happiness.

I see where the point system is going and I think it good... Just keep your class but add points that work best with your class... Just putting it in is the hard part. and dont say it easy....

Yup. This will work for those who want to have a class, don't want to have a class per se, or want to have a class that isn't listed.

Well ya I just want this will classes that are listed that way this is a list so I limited people.... and most things do have some sort of point system. Anyhow Yan will you join the new kingdom event, but first you need a profile if you want to...

I'll try, but I'm a bit busy with some stuff IRL so we'll have to see how that goes.

Also the way im thinking this system will work is that your stats will need to be somewhere or near your race and class. Nothing to far off

That it does, but it's hardly a good reason to change the numbers, especially considering that values that high would result in overpowered characters, which we're trying to avoid.

True i just need some time to think about where points are and how much um..... i got 20 so that good i guess um im just not good with point systems but ill get it done. Most likely this will be part of the guild, so that why im figure things out now.

This is a horrible idea and I mean no disrespect ,but if you do this every character outside of npc will need stats to stats to start at 1 in all stats, your the admin and mod can no longer have character you would have to become npc. The reasoning is that it's unfair to people who don't give thier character flaws, the bigger reason you become hypocrites to your own rules if you give characters free stat points. The reasoning is you are trying to legitimize character powers and make a equal power scale, if you simulate your idea. It mean first off you must convert all character to this stat sysem with stats to 1 anything higer is godmoding, unless these character have archived training that demms them of being a noob-master ranking. Thus vice character must become npc to meet the demands of characters to improve thier stats though training and stats. Then this is unfair to member already in the guild because their character have been already aproved, thus they would fall under beta character. Thus it's unfair to convert thier character , unless you give them an equivilant reward, the only thing equivilant is priceless. Then you need a storyline for npc, then towns, if you have ranks, you need faction because ranks must be apart of sometihng. You really didn't think this far ahead or would have stated it in your previos post, thus this is a really bad idea. Unless ou want to start a brand new guild without memebers...also you could tell it was a bad idea because your stat sysem is maxed to not only an odd number, but a lower number. It leaves alot of grey area. For example your low numbers is bad because it makes alot of grey areeas, because with these the stat system you are trying to introduce is to definate . What if someone if going though thier traing to be a master. They should have some master powers, but under your system they would just have thier previous powers. Like you said this isn't a video game...Then you always set thing to equilants of maxes of even numbers like 10 ( which is stil low), thus maybe 100.
