The Land of Sound (音の国, Oto no Kuni) is a neighbor country of the Land of Fire. It is a relatively new country in the political scene, though it has existed for some time under the name of the Land of Rice Fields (田の国, Ta no Kuni; English TV "Land of Rice Paddies"). Orochimaru conquered the country and convinced its daimyo to let him establish his own ninja village.
Otogakure (音隠れの里, Otogakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in Sound"), called Oto for short, was Orochimaru's personal village, founded for the express purpose of collecting ninja for his experiments and his quest to learn all jutsu. In actuality, Oto is not really a village, but a group of hideouts and bases scattered throughout the Land of Sound and other countries.

•Gekimaru Yaku•
○The Poison Meijin○ Gekimaru approached one of the many entrances to Otogakure; there were many scattered in this land, but security was taken out of only one different entrance every week, while the others were often heavily booby trapped. Academy students -as one of their passing tests- had to remember which entrance was the safety entrance after a week in another land and since the entrance is change every once a week, it was their test to determine which one was the safe entrance. This was a hard test, but not impossible; a real Shinobi could eventually learn the current safe entrance through several means, like trial an error. If other students were stupid enough to go into an entrance, their remains would still be there and thus the smart Shinobi would wait several days before going into an entrance to see what clues had built up and improve their chances. That was but one way, but the sky was the limit and it was required by Otogakure code that every student pass this test -along with many others- in order to be an Oto Shinobi.
Gekimaru knew the safe entrance for this week because he helped chose it; other Shinobi from different villages had been snooping around and thus the entrance was moved to a less known area, since it was Gekimaru's duty to clean up the bodies this week as well, he still didn't want to take any chances. Some could say that other Shinobi spies trying to dig up information only honored Otogakure as a real Shinobi village; if they were a minor one, then Otogakure wouldn't even be a bother to check, they didn't even really have a Kage. This issue of not being 'official' was of little concern to Otogakure itself, they knew their prowess and they knew other villages would respect them and it was in this respect eventually Otogakure would have a Kage. Perhaps if their could only be a set amount, targeting another village and killing their Kage would open up a slot to the exclusive club.
This week's entrance was out in the desert, surrounded by a small valley of rocks. The first Otogakure leader, Orochimaru, made Otogakure a far and wide expansion over the Land of Sound, reaching as far as the land's borders. By all means, finding the hideout was easy, getting in would be impossible for anyone by expert Shinobi, unless one were lucky enough to find the safety entrance, which was a very slim chance and ratio if you were in to math. Occasionally a few did accidentally find the safety entrance, but they would soon be met by opposing Shinobi, who knew the hideout like the back of their hand while the intruders would wander aimlessly in the created dark. Real Shinobi used shadow and their environment to their advantage, unlike others who yell loudly, explain their techniques to their opponents, and wear bright colors; those were all tabooed in Otogakure. Shinobi were warriors of stealth and intelligence, not brute force soldiers, they were not to act as such. Gekimaru opened the hatch hidden by sand; this small part of the desert was officially in Oto Territory, but it was border-lining Sunagakure. Due to this, Gekimaru had to be cautious he wasn't followed and to make sure, he was switching the safety entrance early this week to ensure the sanctity of Otogakue.

It was just a oppourtunity to show others that they deserved to be respected. They could not change what orochimaru had done but then again, they never would have. They were without a doubt their own people. So, what was to be done today? Well, when Sensei-Gekimaru decided to show himself, they could get more training but until then she would have to find Sho. Luna was the female on the Oto team and so she had a lot that she felt she needed to stand for. Eventually she would have a chance to show off her skill but for now, she was content with just letting on to her opponents that she would soon meet, that she was a regular ninja.
Strapped onto her one piece ninja outfit was nothing more than a large fan and to her waist was a scroll. No one had ever seen her use the scroll but it should have been noted that it probably held contents to her abilities. She had gray/silver locks ontop of her pretty little head. They hung down on the left side of her face covering cherry blossom locks. Under her black one piece nin outfit was a netted shirt that added only more style. She was quite the cutie now wasn’t she? Do not let that fool you though, this young vixen had a mouth and wasn’t afraid to speak what she thought.
Her form was being seen walking through the oto village. She was searching for her partner in crime, Sho Kusanagi. He was probably off training or even toruring others. He really never said much did he? No, he did speak to her just not any others outside of their team. Hmmmm, she would have to ask about his history one day.” Sho, where are you?! “ Her voice cooed annoyingly! She didn’t have time to search the whole damn rice country for the pal, handsome, individual. She wanted to train too! By the way, where was Akabara?! He was the third member on their team! What, were they all hiding from her or something? This was getting old real fast and the annoyance was seen building on her soft looking face.__________________________________________________________

One was to learn to embrace the power and then wield it in battle with relative ease to overwhelm his opponent. He didn’t like to be disturbed in the moment of training and it seemed as though he would not be able to enjoy his time of solitude with his training. He shook his head with a glare and picked up his nin top and replaced it over his body. Luna, one of his teammates was on the prowl and searching for him again. He could hear her loud voice calling out to him inquiring about his whereabouts. He sighed and looked up with a smug look as other people who were not nin staring at him.
When he glared at them they quickly turned their heads away from him. Sho didn’t know the meaning of mercy or restraint so if he attacked you, he was aiming to kill you or at least put you in a world of hurt for hours. It was good others did not dare to challenge him or even say anything to him because his melody arm had no problem disrupting the water in his opponent’s body. His design for the melody arm was far different than the previous wearer known as Dosu. Why his was big and clunky, his had been slimmed down for more concealment and a stronger compact of the sound that would be able to be manipulated from it.
Dosu was weak, he could not begin to control the true power of it but Sho definitely would. He was a genin and not a master of it but in prowess, he had exceeded Dosu quite easily. Dosu was a genius or atleast that’s what Sho was told and Sho had exceeded his skill so what did that make Sho? Well, he was simply a monster. However this monster had a slight soft spot for his teammates so, he would finally answer Luna’s voice. He walked only in range for his voice to be heard and just had a blank face.
”What Luna? What is it that you want?” His voice held no compassion and was basically dry but all who knew him knew that he was this way. They shouldn’t really expect too much from him.

•Gekimaru Yaku•
○The Poison Meijin○ Gekimaru had finally checked the last of the tapped entrances in Otogakure to clean up the bodies or numerous individuals; some were old students, some were enemy Shinobi, some were just unfortunate. As a practice put forth by Kabuto, bodies were kept in scrolls and later used to teach, for techniques, and for warnings; Otogakure had a tradition of testing its students by tasking them with impaling a corpse on a pike at the borders of their land, to ward off enemy Shinobi from entering. Otogakure still practised a few chosen Jutsu that were considered forbidden and these required corpses to occasionally use. This was the reason why Otogakure hid from the world, for their practice of forbidden Jutsu. There was a count of ten bodies in today's clean-up and Gekimaru could swear their rotting flesh was seeping through the scroll or maybe it was the smell from his hands after touching them.
Gekimaru was wondering how his Genin were doing; he was reluctant to put faith in them, because Luna was raised as a Shinobi by her father and didn't undergo some of the vital training disciplines regular Oto Shinobi went through. It had been long suspected Luna was possibly a weak link, but it had yet to be proven thus far; her father was obviously skill. Sho was somewhat an experiment, so he was as well just as viable; the new modeled Melody Arm was what made him unique, a treasure really. Only a few choice Shinobi in Otogakure actually used sound based techniques, it was more of a title then an actual way of being a Shinobi, unless one counted how Shinobi are suppose to use sound to their stealth advantage. For this, Gekimaru was confident Sho would make an excellent Shinobi, though it was feared his personality would get in the way of executing what Otogakure stood for: efficiency.
Gekimaru reported in that his mission was a success; the enemy Shinobi in the area had been neutralized, painfully as to display their grotesque looks upon their death, their bodies left to dry in the sun of an open plain for future intruders to look upon. This intruding had become a bit of a problem or late and with the Chunin Exams coming up, Gekimaru had to make sure his team was ready for the probable alliance against them at the Chunin Exams. As the only team to graduate this year, their success was vital and the numbers coudl well be stacked against them. This was a good thing actually; the tougher the conditions, the more Gekimaru's team would learn and mature to becoming greater Shinobi. It wasn't even about winning, no, the Chunin Exams were to show not if Gekimaru's team could win, but how well they performed. Every Otogakure Genin was to attend the Chunin Exams as soon as possible; if they were not ready, they didn't deserve to be Shinobi and were executed.
Gekiamru had to admit, he had a soft spot for his team; even if they failed, Gekiamru doubted he coudl execute them, since as their group leader, it was his duty to carry out punishment. Gekimaru sat within his quarters, writing today's success in his logs, to better hold his concept on how he performed. Gekimaru did this so he could design better poisons to more efficiently carry out his work; currently he was developing a poison to cause an effect similar to large consumptions of alcohol. Not every person targeted was meant to be killed; one slip up at a public hearing like public drunkenness and they were ruined anyway.

Akabara Kinbara Shinobi of Oto, Plant expert, King of Nature. "There's no true beauty in the world like natural beauty." "Oi, why is it you always call for him Luna-san, and never I, Hmm? Plus, you really need to work on your senses. I was trailing behind you this whole time and you did once notice me." Akabara would say and slowly rise up out of the earth. He knew that Sho could have detected him in an instant. It was a pity that Luna didn't sense him. Akabara would shake some dirt out of his hair as he grinned. He then wondered where Gekimaru sensei was. But he wasn't too concerned. He knew the jounin would show up.
Aside from stalking Luna, Akabara had been taking care of the plants he kept with him at all times in the base and had went out for some sunlight, since he was feeling a little weak. After feeling pepped up, he ask the plants if they knew where Luna was, and they pointed him in her direction. Thats how Akabara found her. How he usually found his teammates. He didn't know a whole lot about his teammates however, due to him usually living a secluded life. All he knew was Sho was a dark and violent kid who could use sound and Luna was girl of good intelligence and had an affinity for wind. None of their skills accompanied anothers, but they've always come through.
Akabara didn't even know much about himself, so he had nothing to share with his team about his past. All they knew is he was usually quiet, a bit creepy, and was in love with plants and had an odd and unique ability. He hoped through these exams he could get stronger and learn more about himself. For now, he stood with his teammates and waited to see what it was Luna wanted.

Finally, now she could have something to do for a change. She approached him with a sinister smile on her face and leaned into him.” Don’t be so mean, you act as if you did not miss me or something. Your tough act only works on others. You know a woman can tell when a male cares about them. It’s how we get what we want. Don’t pay too much attention to me, I am not yet a woman, or am I?” Luna liked to play around with Sho. She being the only female member on her team. She had got back from her daily and boring practices of the medical techniques. It was something that she failed at but it was a requirement for a Kunoichi in other villages so she figured she would learn it secretly and try to assist her team the best she could. Besides, they had never seen what her father had taught her so for now; she appeared to be the weakest link. She had no real problems with that. She would soon show what she was really capable of.
Now its true, she was a female shinobi but that didn’t mean things did not startle her and Akabara had this tendency to pop up out of no where! When she heard his voice she jumped and her hair on top of her head stood up like a cat. Her face turned the color of pale and she turned around grasping her heart. She took a couple of breaths and when she finally se regained her composure she stared at him. When he came from up out of the earth her first whacked him at the top of his head. Just above the forehead area is where her knuckles connected!” I know I need to work on that! But you need to work on your people skills! This is why I have not called for you! I never know where you are! “ Why was it that she found herself screaming at Akabara so much? Well, he was weird but he was apart of her team and that meant that she couldn’t go around beating on him.
This was a everyday thing. She would beat on her team members when it disrupted her day and then she would apologize to them. Her face grew soft and made a little pout.” Akabara-Kun, I am sorry. I am a little jumpy.” She would place her hands softly on his head and lean up on her tippy toes and kiss the spot where her fist had connected. When her soft lips kissed the area she looked at him with a smile.” No need to make sure I am alright Akabara-kun, you can walk beside me sometimes.” Luna seemed to have this impression that her team overly worried about her. So she looked at just about everything that way. But now, back to what she was saying earlier.” Well since you both are here, shall we go get something to eat. I assume you both were training and I am back from mine so, until Sensei appears, we can go eat?”

Akabara Kinbara Shinobi of Oto, Plant expert, King of Nature. "There's no true beauty in the world like natural beauty." Akabara would give a light chuckle as he scared the hell out of Luna. It was fun to him. I guess he just had a twisted sense of humor that way. When the fist hit him on the head however, he would let out A yelp and rub his head before chuckling again "Fufufu, that actually hurt a little Luna-san. But you should know, if you just call for me, the plants will spread the word. How else do you think i found you? Besides... I'm not much of a people person, you should know that by now." he said with a devilish grin. He would then crouch down and grab a handful of dirt. Next, with his other hand he'd break out a tooth, which seemed to change into an odd color of greenish brown. Where he ripped it out, a nice, pearly white tooth replaced it. He stuck the tooth in the handful of dirt and with just a bit of chakra, a small cluster of Lilies would grown.
He smiled as he gave birth to a whole plant life form. He would shake away the dirt, and grow a razor sharp thorn claw on his finger an cut the stem cluster perfectly, removing the roots as he would smile and hand the flowers to Luna. "No need to apologize. And i know all of that all ready. I trust you can handle yourself. I just like to test you make sure you train your sensory skills. But if you like, I'll walk with you more." He said and would take two of the lilies, and place them in a good spot in her hair. The lilies were a dark violet color, to match her hair color. He'd smile and murmur "lovely" before glancing at Sho. He wondered if he should tease his teammate and give him a few stink weeds for being such a sourpuss, but before he could, Luna spoke about going to get food.
"I'll accompany you and maybe snack on something, but I'm filled for the day. I already fed myself before looking for you. I was feeling a bit sluggish so i took a nap in the sun." The plant shinobi would say before looking back to Sho to see if the teammate would join in or not.

What was with her always thinking that he missed her because at all honesty, he had not even thought about her once. He knew she was strong, and she could handle herself why would he even need to bother himself with such trivial things as worrying about her? Then she was leaning upon him and he only stared at her more.”Get off of me Luna.” Then he had made the mistake of saying he didn’t miss her so now she would probably hold it in high regard but personally, he didn’t care less. Just as her words spoke from the soft lips of hers, he didn’t pay too much attention to her from the start unless it was a mission. In their last mission, Sho was anxious to prove his worth to his teammates but then again, the enemy had foolish attacked him first. They all remembered how it ended because Sho wasn’t one to leave his opponents alive. He simply just killed them. That’s why he was one who could not be sent on a capture mission.
Sho while Luna continued to talk, gaze at the dirt and he shook his head. Luna’s sensory skills were lacking but she would capitalize on it soon enough. Then again, if this was a mission Sho would have made it look like she didn’t sense the enemy on purpose to hide such a weakness. When he popped up from the ground Luna jumped and went about assaulting Akabara with a hard pounding to the head. Sho never called for him because once again, he really didn’t care. Akabara was another who could handle himself so for Sho to worry it would make him feel like a grandmother not wanting to let her baby go. He didn’t have time for such nonsense. Sho said nothing but he did acknowledge his other teammate with a nod of understanding.
Luna went on to apologize for raising her hand against her teammate, something she frequently did. Than she kissed it all better like a girlfriend of sorts. Akabara begin to go on doing his trick and placing two flowers on the side of her head to boost her beautiful ego even more, and now they were back with Luna talking again. He was planning to just walk away until she inquired about a source of nourishment. Well, he would do what he traditionally did; let Luna pay since she clearly had more funds than her from her father’s background. Then he would take his leave and get back to training. Luna had this thing for having fun as a team and it didn’t appeal to him so he was dragged on some adventures with his teammate and they never ended well. Sho’s sense of humor consisted of death.” Lead the way Luna.” He just would follow with his arm crossed.

A message folded neatly dropped from the sky with a mini parachute tied to it, falling directly before the sound ninja. With that, a ninja from the hidden cloud could be seen leaving, darting back off toward the village hidden in the clouds. "It is with a great pleasure that I write this letter to you, [Insert Name of Otogakure Village Leader Here], for it has been a long time between our last communication. I write this letter to be delivered directly into your awaiting hands and offer a hand of partnership. No. A hand of friendship between our two villages in a hope that together we can slowly dissolve the tension between all villages for a greater good. I ask for little in return from your village, knowing your size has put you at a great disadvantage and for this I wish to open a line of communication, trade of good and services between our villages. You have talented Ninjas that would rival even our own, I believe we could be of mutual benefit to one another, whether or not you yet see the potential of a relationship such as this, I know it holds potential.
It is also with great pleasure that I inform you that the Chunin Exams will be held in Konohagakure in the coming days, for I was not sure if you had yet heard the news. There will be many young Genin there with massive potential to become great Chunin, and beyond, and I sincerely look forward to seeing what Genin will be attending from Otogakure and wish all your Genins the best of luck in achieving Chunin level. I recall when I had first gone through the exams, it will not be easy, but the sound village has churned out many a quality ninja in the past.
I hope you will consider my extended arm of peace carefully before making a decision, hopefully you come to the right decision and we can begin our new era of peace, prosperity, and slowly bring your village to be one of the greats. I have sent this letter along with my best Haitatsuin [deliveryman] and know that there will be no issues with delivery, receipt, or return of any letters delivered or replied with."
Best wishes, Sukotto Ishima Raikage of Kumokagure
