[[For future reference, any one on one activity that goes on for over a page there will have to be a side thread made...reading this is optional of course, it's just character development not key to the plot.

Story wise, this will be after she patches the Stanza.]]

Karlii
The Sniper entered her sanctuary. Hearing a small crunch, under her foot, she lifted her foot to see a sheet of high-end stationery paper on the sole of her Doc Marten boot. She pulled the pale gold sheaf from it and examined it. The writing was flowing and precise, a script of someone of discipline and class. She had a gut a feeling of who it might be. Reading, her assumptions confirmed.

To the lovely Miss Alorade:
There is a small matter I wish to discuss with you. Share a drink with me in my quarters this evening? It’s the room across from your own.

--H

She sighed. So he wants to discuss things with me? Not very likely. She’d keep her guard up. Yet, her curiosity had been piqued, something told her this wasn’t normal of him. Dropping onto the bed and rolling her neck, she decided on her next course of action. Washing up and hanging out of these clothes were her best bet, no sense visiting the man in oil stains. Grabbing a change of clothes, she headed off to the showers…

Cleaned and dressed, she faced the door, giving it a sharp rap.

Henri had been waiting, diverting himself with some minor paperwork and reading. He perked up at the sound of the knock. A smile curled on his lips. Ah, finally. “Eet’s open.” He wrapped up his current diversion, pulling back out the notes and the borrowed dossier photo. He noticed it looked like how she was now, not back then. He was definite they were the one and that same, they had to be.

The door opened with a creak as his guest entered. Another creak came when she closed it behind her. She caught the faint scent of cologne and tobacco, refined and wholly masculine. And there was its occupant, coatless, holster in the wide open, lounging casually with a lazy smile, and a bottle of cognac and two glasses beside him on the desk. Getting a better look at him, he was handsome, of course, his features of the classical sort. The man knew how set his look and presence well. She felt a slight twinge of a threat from him; she knew this was a bad idea. The moment she could make a break, she would. “You wanted to see me?” she asked, standing in place.

He gave an appreciative eye to woman, assessing her as she was assessing him. He noted a few more visible scars on her. “Good evening Karlii,” he greeted her, his green eyes quickly hardened to emerald. “Or should I say Victoria St. James?” He finally remembered. He wondered if his mother was aware of the woman’s real identity, if not…His smile remained but had lost some of its softness as well. The gears in his head were going. If not, for once he knew something the little queen didn’t have…

She instantly became wary. Her eyes narrowed, scowling. “How do you know that name?” She growled, her hand went to the sheath on her thigh. Last she checked, while her missions were in RED’s briefs, her aliases were removed. He must’ve done research for extra credit. She had to be careful with him. “I haven’t used that Alias in years.”

Henri
“Hmm, you don’t remember.” He frowned slightly. “Zere eez no need to get ‘ostile, chereie.” The Frenchman cleared his throat as the woman relaxed. Quick to get on the defensive… he noted. Very protective about delving into her past, perhaps? “Please, allow me to refresh zat memory of yours. Sit.” His smile returned at her cautiousness and gave a rich chuckle, pouring the cognac. “All I want to do eez talk. I assure you. Drink?” He asked, proffering a glass.

She removed her hand from the sheath, and sat down on the bed across from him, still glowering and feeling like she was being grilled on an interrogation. However, she took the glass wordlessly. She sipped it, a little unsure of it. She was picky with her drink. It burned a little, but it was alright. Not something she’d have on a regular basis though. “So, pleasantries aside, how do you know of that name?” It was her time to give him the hardened look.

Henri
The Spy took a drink from his own glass as well, then pulled out his cigarette case from the inside his coat pocket, draped on the chair back. “Do you remember a job een Monaco at zee Hotel Le Grande Seurrat?” He asked, lighting up once again, the scent of tobacco taking over the scent of his cologne. She looked still a bit suspicious, and even more confused.

She mused over her glass on the name. It was familiar…wait. “That was five years ago…yeah! Some scumbag tied to the Borgia and de Vargas families. Fled from Brazil, tracked him down in Monte Carlo. Enjoyed high rolling, if I remember correctly. So where else? Vegas is nice, but not like Monte Carlo.” Kar shifted in her seat, sliding her hand slightly over the bedspread. She still felt awkward. “Lovely beaches…but the surfing was…eh.” She lifted the hand and wiggled it.

“Do you remember your contact? He merely looked at her, before responding, “No, of course not. I was your contact.” Henri stated flatly, looking straight at her. “Our leetle spat today reminded me of our last meeting. Zee same eyes, zee same fire.” He took a drag, the smoke exhaled in sort of a half-ring. “You were also a brunette then, eef I remember as well.”

“Temporary dye, I’m afraid,” She said, tapping her head, “Natural redhead.” She took another sip of the liquor. The memories were coming back. Assumed identity, pretending to be some pretty little socialite. “Wait…you and I…” She vaguely remembered his face…at a dinner? A game? Suddenly, a feeling of cold dread washed over her. Practically gasping, she leaned forward, her heart in her throat. “Oh s**t. We didn’t…” Kar was shy of blanching. She wasn’t promiscuous, mind you. However, as a last resort, she was not above using her body to get close to her targets if need be. Her partners were not very memorable…and most of them ended up dead by the next morning.

Henri
He laughed in earnest, an almost richly musical sound, unsettling coming from him. Non, non.” His laughter died down to a bass rumble. “Oh, I would remember zat, trust me.” He lowered his brow with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “A kiss during dinner at zee most perhaps…do you steel dance? Eef I remember, you were an excellent dancer.” Taking more of his drink, his eyes remaining on her. “Mmm. And zee red ‘air, eet eez more fitting, now zat I think of it…” He purred, her earlier conclusion eliciting some thoughts of things that might have happened. Had she been of a weaker will, he was sure he could’ve successfully made those thoughts into reality right then and there. He had the home advantage, as it were. But he wasn’t going to try, she was armed, and he’d rather have all his pieces intact.

“Not so much anymore.” She confessed. “Not many dinners and galas back home, or at least ones I’ve been able to get access to.” She confessed, sighing. Seeing the sparkle in his eye return, her scowl soon followed as well. “Don’t even.” She warned, trying to look imposing. She downed the rest of the drink; glad to be done with being here. “Thank you for the drink, and the little trip down memory lane.” She stood up, placing the glass on the desk and turning to the door. “But it’s been a long day and I think I’ve overstayed my welcome. Another time?”

Henri
“Of course. Annozer time.” He replied, still looking amused. “Perhaps anozzer dance? For old times sake?” He was only half teasing. But his offer remained, catching a slightly disappointed look in her eye when she spoke. The Spy watched the woman leave; his eyes remained on door for a few more moments, before turning away. He decided he’d return the photograph to the dossiers later.
