Of what sorrows does the laughter come?
Or pain does the joy?
What do simple-minded folk learn
In schools that they enjoy?
Who taught us how to misbehave?
Or to sin blatantly again?
Questions haunt every breath,
As does the pain.
Slowly degrading, we sit about,
Absorbing foolish things.
Placing foot behind foot,
We cast out truth that rings.
Who instructed us on the ways of life?
Taught us to cut and kill?
We, ourselves have molded our fate,
By our own foolish will.
Walking amid coals,
A dangerous line,
A tightrope to our doom.
Who calls that delight?
Who has brought this pain to us?
This suffering in the cold?
It was we who selfishly cast away
The God of the "old".
