The caravan members aged sixteen to twenty-six form the youngest generation in the group, and quite possibly humanity's last generation. More than a century of exposure to radiation has warped and damaged the reproductive systems of even those who've avoided death, and there hasn't been a successful birth in a decade and a half. With the caravan's population aging, it won't be long before a mere sixty members shrinks to half that number, and the dead will take valuable experience with them. But there's no time to think about the future; the deadly present occupies the thoughts of everyone still alive. The last hope for the living is rapidly dwindling, and it's up to the last generation to stay alive long enough to even contemplate a solution.
