It can be hard, to finally tell the people around you that you're a witch. Mostly because of that anxious, scared feeling that they won't accept you.
I've had that feeling before, when i told my mother. Fortunately, my mother is a very spiritual, loving being, that gladly accepted me as a witch. It i sad that I cannot say the same about my father. it has been countless times when he has told me that all of it is hocus-pocus, and that I'm being fed lies. No matter how much he discourages me, I can't change what I believe in, I just believe it.
How about you? have you told anyone? has anyone tried to stop you?

My great grandmother, and my mother. Both of them (though my mother isnt spiritual what-so-ever, and my great grandmother is a born an breed christian). My actual grandmother is the only one who knows about my beliefs and accepts them. However I'm not allowed to practice in the house because she's afraid of my grandfather finding out. She does help me access different books or anything I need to further my studies. My mother on the other hand just doesn't see anything I do as right. She's more along time lines of (oh thats not christian so it's not right).

I find that to be a real snag in religion, when people say that if something isn't by the rules of their religion, that it's wrong. i'm not picking on Christians either, (even though some are a little ignorant of ours) even some pagans/wiccans can assume things about others that are wrong and say it's not good. if people would stop being so close-minded, and start accepting others for who they are, everyone would be able to lay down their guns, and shake hands. (figuratively)

@ bubbles269 I completely agree with you there. It's a shame that not all traditions of Wicca can get along and accept each other. There have been many cases where a newer tradition Wicaan has been told what they do does not "count" as Wicca. However, we Neo-Wiccans just have to keep our faith in who and what we are. Every religion has different sectors that do not agree with one another, Wicca is no exception either. Though I am beginning to see why my teachers gave me so much warning before they'd agree to teach me what they know.
I came from a long line of Witches and Wiccans. But that doesn't make it any easier to be understood in my family. My father, the one who was not raised with witchcraft has no issues with me being a witch whatsoever. Rather, he constantly asks me if he's planning something for the right moon phase to make it work well or not. My mother, however, who is also a witch, though not Wiccan, does not approve of what I do for some odd reason. I was taught most of what I know from my Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, and learned a great deal from My Great Great Grandmother, Lady Catherine's old journals. so of course, Gran agrees with who I am completely. I find that the hardest issue though is with peers and co-workers as there are so manym people who do not understand what we do, and thus fear it.

This is going to be tricky for me and i know it... My mom is open minded and easy to talk to. but my dad is very spiritual in his own way, He writes and writes about what he believes in and for the last 4 years or so i've started to read his writings a quote from him is "every war is always won before any war begins by those who refuse to war" And so i believe that he is a very wise man. When i was talking to someone else online on a different site and was explaining to them some of my core belifs they said it sounded alot like wicca and well.... i have been researching for about a year now. And sure nuff it does. I really want to tell him that there is a religion that agnologes his way of thinking and that hes not crazy.... But i remeber a time when my brother was caught with witchcraft books and my home was in turmoil for almost a month.
sweatdrop I want... to wait until i know almost all i can about wicca before i "come out of the broom closet"

I don't feel like telling anyone.
My parents don't know, but they are aware of the books I have.
But then again, I have my own apartment. My boyfriend wouldn't care. Aslong as I'm happy.

Depending on how old you are- there's a lot to be concerned with when it comes to people being Wiccan. Even Wiccans realize that minors shouldn't practice Wicca because of the likelyhood that it could cause a bad reaction from law enforcement- and that's the most shaky of reasons, any Wiccan with a good moral framework wouldn't want to engage in the rites with a minor who is still developing and shouldn't be exposed to the sexual elements that hallmark Wicca as a fertility religion. Which tradition are you an initiate of?

Annon_Kii I am eclectic...all of my friends are as well I'm sad to say that I think you've been misinformed about Wicca. It happens a lot- and that doesn't make your path bad or wrong, but it's not Wicca anymore than it's Buddhism or Islam. A lot of authors publish books and slap Wicca on the cover because it's easier to get people to pay money for those books than "Author Jim's book on Witchcraft". It happens all the time- so don't feel too bad and if you're happy with your path spiritually, there's no need to change that, but it would be more honest and lead to less frustration if instead of calling it Wicca, you called it Witchcraft. If you are interested in Wicca- I can give you some more information on it, and even point you towards resources for Seekers if that is where you feel you are drawn- but it's probably for the best to not call your path something it isn't. sweatdrop It usually leads to confusion and in some cases fights because the oaths Wiccans swear include those to defend their path- and since people can be really unethical, a lot of times people who are misinformed get caught up in the crossfire on that one.

If I was on the wrong path my Gardenarian/Alexadrian..idk its one of the two would tell me. I would appreciate some info on other traditions though its all pretty hard to find

It can be quite a bit of fun; do you go by the actual "meanings" of the cards or what your third eye tells you?

There are people who fake that sort of thing and it's a little odd to not know which tradition your coven is.
