'Kay. So in my Lit class we've been working on disecting books made entirely of vignettes such as The House on Mango Street. After disecting over and over again, our teacher is having us write vignettes of our own. They are super fun to right, and because they are so short can take anywhere from 1 minute to and hour to create. (Mine take around one minute.) So, does anyone else have experience with vignettes? What do you think about them.
Note: When I say vignette, I mean it in the sense of a short almost poetry-like style of writing with lots of metaphors and colorful writing, whilst still retaining a concise format.

sad Honestly, I don't believe I have any idea of what those are. I don't recall having heard of them. Can your clarify a little more? Or maybe an example or two? I may know, but not recognize the name. That happens to me too.

Vignette is just a fancy word for prose that my teacher likes to use. It is supposed to be a bit more concise, and not have a lot of advanced vocabulary while still being very metaphoric. For an example... I don't have any on hand right now, but I'm sure if you looked up the book A House on Mango Street, you'd find an exerpt that would contain some of the vignette. I'll put one up in the short stories forum as soon as I locate where I put that darn notebook.
