Raven- -_Wish of the Goddess_-
Phoenix- Sephiros Immortalis

He'd come to the mall with a specific purpose in mind. Mainly, nicking some pretty shiny things. Namely gold jewelry. Young Corvinus Corax found himself eager to get some new things in his pocket. He had very few back at the school, and the jewels before him were...tempting. Very, very tempting. The tiny boy ran his black claws over the glass of the display case, feathers fluffed, and his wings fluttering slightly as he studied the things. Which one now.....which one....

Phoenix had taken it into his head that he was to explore every inch of this place, well, at least the places that they'd let him in, as some were firmly off-limits for a couple of years yet. Ah, but he wasn't worried, there were plenty of places and people to catalog, and to decide which ones he would grace with his presence and companionship. Drawn as the Raven had been to the brighter, sparkling things...though with an entirely different purpose in mind. He actually had a mind to purchase one or two things, though they'd have to be delicate, not some of those glinting, gaudy creations that looked better on old, buxom grannies than someone of his age and rank. Huffing softly to himself, he then turned a dusky-orange eye to the other youngster at the counter. Ah. A bird. Not one quite so majestic as he himself, in fact, he seemed quite diminuitive, and just as interested in the pretty things on the counters and behind the glass. Hmm... Now...should he approach? Or see if the other youngling would say anything. Surely he would, Phoe mused, mantling his wings slightly in a subtle, but impressive display, feathers passing with a soft sheen under the artificial lights. Yes, he was far more important than any of these little baubles.

Now Rae had noticed the sparkling feathers, and was momentarily distracted, glancing over at Phoe with those bright golden eyes, eyes much like the baubles before them, although a little more brassed. His tail feathers fluffed, flicking slightly as he just stared. Was the other really thinking that his attention would be permanently drawn by such a display? He turned back to the rings and necklaces, his hand reaching out and tucking away a single golden piece, with a garnet set pendant.

Well, if he wasn't an impolite little upstart. With an irritated little trilling sound, he shifted his way closer...just in time to notice the Raven boy's sleight of hand tucking away one of the wee trinkets. Why...that was just unheard of, and most impolite. If you were going to steal something, it should be for a noble purpose, and he rather doubted that the other had any particular use for it beyond adornment. Hoarding, perhaps, as he knew many of the others still did. It was...childish, immature, and not proper. Well, he'd just have to give him a bit of his mind, that was what. Eyes narrowing, he leaned back against the counter, and just waited for the other to move away, as Phoe was sure he would do sooner or later. To cause a stir might be a delicious scandal for the Raven boy, but...if he didn't bust him, it might be worth the Phoenix's while.

He noticed Phoe watching him, and in a gesture of pure defiance, flipped his tail. Moving away from the counter, he headed for the food court. Corvinus was hungry now, and since exiting the shop proved no alarms would sound, the little raven thief grinned happily. How easy! Glancing back at the fire bird with a smirk, he mouthed, 'Coming?'

Ooooh. That was just it. Glaring at the other, he flexed his fingers, all too eager to sink his nails into this little upstart. He was going to have the other listening to his every word if it was the last thing he ever did. Even if he had to manipulate and bluster his way there, he would make that bratling be sorry for every arrogant gesture he'd just flaunted in Phoe's face. Hesitating a few seconds...he then ambled after the Raven, trying to keep his feathers from ruffling. Stalking forward, he then passed the other to the food area, and then turned around to face his new nemesis. "What, pray tell, was that about!?" He demanded shrilly, in a voice still headed for puberty. Arms across his chest, he was glad that he had that couple inches of height over the other, so that he could peer down his nose at his naughty classmate.

)A grin slid over the Raven's face as the Phoenix passed him, and then spun around to demand an answer out of the boy. He giggled, and waggled his tail at the other, "Easy. What was it about? It was about the look you gave me." His voice was cold and collected, eyes flickering with mischief and delight. This was too easy! "I saw that. I was just taking what was mine."

"But it isn't yours, not until you've properly purchased it. Or were you raised in a barn? Hmmm?" Still scowling at the other avian, his wings fluffed subtly, indicating his annoyance. Putting hands on his hips, he tried to stare the other down, this flippant little imp. Oh yes, he would have to train him properly. It wouldn't do to have such an obnoxious bird about.

Unfortunately for Phoe, he stared evenly right back, with that grin ever in place, "Not raised in a barn. Just knowing what's mine. I love things like this." He pulled the golden thing out of his pocket, the one he'd just nicked, and dangled it in front of the other avian. Then, his eyes narrowed darkly, "Don't think to threaten me either. Won't work."

"Your logic is horrifically flawed." He muttered, "And I don't threaten, I make promises, or I just set you afire. How are you with flames, now really? Or are you always this way in the face of danger and potentially authority, hmm?" Sighing heavily, he cast a glance over his shoulder at the food court. "Do you want to eat something? As I don't think I'm going to start a war here in public, it would be unseemly." But I'll get you later.

He huffed, chuckling low in his chest, "I'm not scared of you, sir. Not at all." And then the other offered them to eat food, "Food? Yeah, sure. I'll pay. " He grinned eagerly. Raven had the money to pay for things. Did he want to? No. Not at all, but better than letting THIS pay for his food. Debt. The ONE thing the Raven wouldn't put himself in.

Then he'd have to work on that...to make the other afraid...but not here, not with all these prying eyes. Phoenix had an image to keep up, after all...but this little thief would be under his boot before long. Eyes narrowing, his own tail fluffed a bit and he shook his head. "I'll pay for myself." He muttered, snorting softly, "What sort of food do you prefer, ruffian? " This wasn't a date and he wasn't going to allow it to even vaguely resemble one. Have such a peon pay for his meal? Ech. How utterly revolting. As if he'd even consider such a thing.

Rae snorted, "I've got a name." To be mocking, the little trickster bowed, and in a voice that almost perfectly mimicked Phoe's he crooned. "Corvinus Corax~ Raven for short." And to further create the mocking atmosphere, he grabbed the Phoenix's hand, kissed it, and then danced towards the food court, calling back, "And I like Chinese!"

"Raven, hnn?" His eyes narrowed at the blatant mimicry, and there was a flicker of fire at his fingertips, an echo of what was smoldering in his orange-red gaze. "I'm not obliged to call you by it...as you're most infuriating." It was almost a growl, teeth clacking softly as his mouth snapped shut. It was a good thing he liked Chinese, as otherwise he might have been tempted to have fried Corvinus Corax otherwise. They probably tasted delicious with a touch of orange glaze.

He flipped his tail again as he moved to the restaurant, he decided to just ignore that, ordering chow mein and some rangoons, and a few other items, only a few of which were meat. Mainly Beef. His wings fluttered eagerly as he watched them serving his food. Mmm~ Food. He was indeed one of those sorts,especially...when meat was involved.

Following, despite his best intentions to lead, he too ordered food, though his was rice and shrimp with a rather zesty sauce over the top of it. Didn't need to be ordering anything too extreme here. Leaning against the counter as they processed the orders, he eyed his target in a rather piercing fashion, summing him up one more. Oh he was going to be a tricky one, all right. "So...did you just arrive here too?" Information scouting time...play nice for a while, at least.

He twirled the Chow Mein around his fork, humming to himself. He seemed to think, watching the noodles, "Yeah, just recently. I've been...looking around." He didn't offer more than that, and wouldn't. The Raven didn't trust this brightly feathered stranger....

The Raven didn't trust him. Smart Raven. Phoenix smiled blandly and continued to eat his food. "I'm sure I would be..." Oh no, he wasn't letting the other get off that easily, but he could wait until the dark-haired boy was far less suspicious, and when there weren't spectators around. If he was going to have his way, he'd seek what he wanted in a more secluded spot, or at least not in the smack-dab middle of the mall.

Snorting at him, he finished off his food, waving his hand, "Look, I gotta go. I've got some important stuff to get into." Finishing off his food, he took it to the trash and gave the Phoenix that mocking bow again, before turning and flipping his tail again, "Later, fire-boy." He said with a laugh, dancing forwards towards leaving the mall, not even giving the other a second thought.

"Or steal, likely as not..." He remarked tartly, his eyes resuming their annoyed, narrowed position. Oh yes, he was definitely going to put that one on a leash and drag him around in the dirt for a while. The Raven would not be so very haughty when his wings were clipped. Ruffling his own, he leaned back in his seat and sipped at the soda that as thus far he'd left untouched. Oh yes, there would be a great weeping and gnashing of teeth when Phoenix was through taking that b*****d down a few notches.

But for now...he was going to sit and enjoy his meal. No need to rush, he had years to plot his revenge.
