During a fight between the Light and Dark, Tanaka's wife Destia lost her life battling the hydra Orochi. As Destia died, no one payed attention. Tanaka then lost all control he still had over the Infernal spirit still residing inside him. He inherited the powers of the Unmasked, becoming the strongest Infernal. He built himself a dwelling in a cave in the mountains behind Barton City. He had a small conversation with Arannis in his mind and began a quest to find his wife's lost soul. This is that quest.

Tanaka stormed down the hall, his cape flapping behind him madly. He had recieved word of a way to travell to the Underworld and regardless of whether it were true or not, he would try everything in his power to find a way. He arrived in a room lit by a single candle. In a corner sat a man hunched over a book. He turned as Tanaka enter the room. When he finally realized it was him, his eyes filled with horror and he quickly left his chair and bowed at his feet.

"M-m-m-my l-lord... I have discovered a path that m-might lead you to where you s-seek."

The old man smirked thinly and hustled to his book. He brought the book back to Tanaka and pointed to a passage. He began to read aloud;

"In ainm an dorchadais,
Tabharfaidh mé féin a dhuit.
tairseach Oscail an Underworld,
mar sin is féidir liom a ghnóthú mo ghrá ar fán is ar fuaidreamh"

A crackle of energy struck the air then faded to nothing. Tanaka looked at the man with dissapointment. He drew his blade Saol-Gaiste and with no emotion at all, said,

"You have provided me with false information for the last time."

A look of fear hit the frail man like an atomic bomb. He cried out and whimpered;

"P-pleeeaasssse! D-don't kill me!"

Tanaka, paying no attention, whipped the blade around in his hand and plunged it straight down.

(He's not dead yet. Somebody better save him....)

A ray of light from the opposite side of the room, and the blade deflected to the side. Standing in the entryway, Arannis, a Celestial of equal might to what Tanaka had once again become, glared at his once best friend.

"I know first hand the sufferings of more than you could ever care to imagine, Tanaka. I know full well how much you loved her. Why, then, do you deny her peace at long last?"

Tanaka glared at Arannis and screamed;

"BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T CHOOSE DEATH! SHE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE AT LIFE! You have intervened with me for the last time Celestial. Now, you must go."

As Tanaka finished that sentence he brought his hand back and gathered a ball of energy, which he shot at Arannis.

Arannis phased out of existence, the ball passing right through him harmlessly.

"Had I been given the choice, I would have chosen death long ago. There are forces far beyond either of our understanding at work here. Something I never told you, Tanaka... I am Celestial in origin, but not by nature. Yes, I was created, given life by unnatural means to fulfill a duty that even I cannot fully comprehend. Not for another 3 millenia am I doomed to fall. Your hostility means nothing to me, now."

Tanaka staightened up and shot a beaming look at Arannis.

"You may not be able to die right now, but your powers have no effect in the Underworld, where you can die as quickly as you step foot on the soil. I am leaving now, but before I do..."

Tanaka's hand shot up and formed a ball of energy. He shot the ball at the man in the corner. The pulse hit the man square in the chest. He coughed blood and fell over, never to move again.

"You should work on saving people forever, rather than for a short time. Then maybe he would've lived.

Tanaka showed no emotion and burst into a column of fire.

Eri's form flickered and came between the walls into the strange chamber. She looked around observing all that was there. Her gaze fell to a man's body in the corner, and a slight cringe formed over her features before subsiding. She looked then at the other occupants of the room.

"What has happened here? I sensed a strange energy and came at once."

Tanaka stumbled down the steps to his dwelling, where he doubled over in pain. He screamed madly, his eyes and hair flickering different shades, hearing whispers of different tones, all of them argueing with eachother. His eyes settled back to red and he slumped to his throne. He sat down and muttered something one of the voices in his head were telling him to say.

"Maidir leis an cruthaitheoir an bháis,
Ba mhaith liom thú a shásamh,
Deontas liom an deis seo,
A shocrú mo ghrá saor in aisce ..."

The mountain began to shudder and a darkness crept above the city of Barton in the form of black clouds. A purple portal flickered into existence, more of a vacuum than a rift. Inside the hole one could here the sounds of the dead and the monsters that tortured them. Tanaka laughed aloud as he realized he finally had his way to the Underworld. He would finally retrieve his wife's lost soul.

Arannis frowned, hearing Eri's question.

"It would appear that I am not yet finished in living the lives of many. Again, you have met an extension, whereas I also stand righted back in Barton. Tanaka... I... I dare not say."

Eri nodded to Arannis, understanding all to well.

"I as well am only a portion of my original self. I was on my way through nearby realms when I sensed some trouble here."

Arannis frowned, realizing all too quickly that Eri had learned the ritual of the counterpart on her own power.

"I should not have brought this upon you, Eri... All those years ago, when we were safely in Aezea... I should have remained alone in my travels. I never meant for all this to go wrong... and only the higher beings of the planes can determine how ungodly long there is left."

((Oh, wow.. I'm actually at a loss for how to come in. ))

(Don't know what to tell ya, Ryn... but consider this; you and Tanaka have been somewhat of traveling partners in destruction for almost as long as you've known Derahci, so maybe in that time you could have put something trackable down on him? Just a thought.)

With a crackling sound, and a flash of silver light, a lone being appeared infront of the portal to the Underworld. Shaking his head, he sighed, slipping his hands into his pockets.

Tch.. Such a damn pain..Who's doing this now?
