In the meanwhile, it has been reported that an asteroid has crashed into the Atlantic ocean. Believing it to be a sign, an unidentified shaman decided to retrieve the object, first examining by Projecting; leaving his body and travelling into the ocean with his spirit. What he found was beyond his belief; the meteor was ordinary, but it carried a pulsing crystal with unimaginable power. A power with a thirst that cannot be quenched. A spirit who's reiyoku is unlike any other rested inside, that lives off harvesting souls. Much like the Great Spirit and the Elementals, it eats other souls to gain power, but unlike them, who are made of the unity of all these souls, this spirit completely devours them, diminishing them to the rawest power to fuel its own existence.
Once it sensed the presence of another soul, it devoured the shaman, and his spirit, and pounced out the crystal, following the trail of furyoku and possessing the shaman's body. Gaining the knowledge and memories of the body, the spirit learned to speak the languages that the shaman knew and an understanding of the shamanic principles of this very Earth. Starving, it set out, like a skillful actor, impersonating its vessel, it convinces fellow spirits and shamans to join it, promising new techniques beyond their imagination from its old home; now reduced to a soulless planet. All it asked for back was a little mark on their bodies; proof that it belonged to them now.
News spread fast, and a term was coined by the Patch tribe to describe this strange and terrifying new leech; the Soul Devourer. With the help of Rutherfor and her spirit, they learned that the Soul Devourer was known for destroying all the souls of large areas before they get a chance to reincarnate or pass on. After it is finished with its land, it latches onto crystals in meteorites, drifting for centuries until it crashes into a new feast.
To combat this new threat, the new governors of the Patch Tribe created an academy for shamans, selecting only the finest of young shamans from around the world; ready to train them the finest techniques that were passed down from Grey Saucer. With their hearts and minds still young, a world without limits to their potential awaits.
