"The most powerful tool you have is that which makes up who you are. Find it, harness it, and nothing shall stand in your way."

    User Image

    Basic Statistics

    Name: Kyrea

    Age: 24

    Nationality: Kanto

    Caught Location: Route 6

Brief History: Caught and trained by Pokemon Police Force. Stolen and evolved by forced during laboratory humanoid transformation. The evolution process combined with the humanoid transformation did not work as planned, and she was left more pokemon than ginjinka.

Current Residence: Small traditional dojo specializing in Bujinkan Taijutsu, Hap Ki Do, Bushido variations

    Occupation: Martial Arts Instructor, Hermit

Income: None. She sees no value in money.

Talents/Skills: Fighting, training, fighting. Running. And fighting.
Siblings: She was born in a litter of growlithe puppies, but was caught young and remembers none of them.

Spouse: You find someone who will put up with her, and we’ll talk about this.

    Children: Read above.

Relationship skills: Kyrea’s ability to trust is minimal, however if she does attach to someone, she becomes extremely (read: excessively) protective of them. It’s instinctual for her to do so, but her fiery fighter’s spirit makes this one of her extreme qualities. She’s easily jealous, easily bitter, and easily set into a rage if simple words don’t get her the end result she desires quickly enough.

    Physical Characteristics

    Height: 5’6”
    Weight: 140lbs
    Race: Arcanine
    Eye Color: Gold (fire-like)
    Hair Color: White
Skin color: Orange furred with black lightning-shaped streaks

Shape of Face: More anthro than humanoid, retaining some hints of a whitened muzzle and canine nose, etc.
Distinguishing features: Although most of her form resembles a normal colored Arcanine, her ears are tipped black rather than orange, and the white feathered fur that she had as an Arcanine carried over into her humanoid shape, fluffy at her shoulders and trailing down the backs of her arms. This pattern is the same on her knees, where the fur encircles her knees thickly and long white fur feathers down the back of her thighs.

Normal dress: It is nearly impossible to find her out of a martial arts gi, or some sort of fight-capable clothing. She is also rarely ever seen without a pair of swords bound at her hip in traditional bushido style.

Mannerisms: To understand Kyrea, the only thing you have to think of is fire. She is the epitome of fire embodied in a creature. Every thought, every movement, every goal set is made with utmost passion and frenzy. Her moods are extreme, smoldering at first and then catching- like a fire onto a piece of paper- and erupting into a full out forest fire bent on taking over every square acre of a state or three. She can be extinguished, though one may find it rather difficult to do so. Her pride is heavy and ego is rather swollen, and everything she does, she does it to its fullest. Note, this doesn’t mean she can’t be civil. She is perfectly capable of having a conversation with someone, but if a button is pushed, don’t be surprised if she’s quite literally up in flames about it.

Health: Generally always in good health. There are few germs that can handle the intense heat of a fire-mon’s body. Usually the only catch to this good health are any injuries she may sustain in the fights she seeks.

Hobbies: A secret past time she indulges in is oriental-style art, often painting intricate murals across the walls of her dojo.

Speech patterns: Her speech is always extremely formal, as if she will always remain uncomfortable with using English. One will never hear her use jargon or conjunctions.

Disabilities & Flaws: Her discomfort around crowds, her intense anger, and her dislike (leaning towards fear) of machinery/technology often inhibits her from proper interaction with people, and frequently leads to misinterpretations, misunderstandings, and unnecessary frustration.

Best quality: Her skill in fighting and her speed in running is superior, and it has carried over with little difficulty into her humanoid form. Anything to keep her from these passions is met with excessive hostility.

Style: Her style is a mixture of martial arts formality, such as always being in uniform, always being clean, brushed, and presentable, as well as an odd inability to fully let go of her pokemon-self. It is not uncommon to find her moving on all fours when not thinking about it, hunting her own food, and sleeping curled in a ball.

    Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes

    Educational Background: None.

Intelligence Level: Moderate to low, leaning more towards common sense than educated awareness and knowledge. She's slowly beginning to learn to read, paint, and specialize in humanized fighting.

Learning Experiences: Most knowledge derived from pokemon fighting days.

Character's short-term goals in life: Set up a dojo, figure out life as a semi-human creature.

Character's long-term goals in life: Maximize capabilities in this new body, figure out what her new purpose in life may be.

How does Character see herself? Troubled, frustrated, and never good enough.

How does Character believe she is perceived by others? She couldn’t care less.

How self-confident is the character? Excessively.

Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof? Kyrea is, again, much like fire. She is ruled by emotions, and lives in the moment. There is rarely forethought in her actions, unless she’s in the middle of a battle. The battlefield is her one place of clear thought.
What would most embarass this character? If someone were to defeat her quickly and without difficulty, or if her fears were announced or displayed publically. Any idea of seeming weak in front of others is inexcusable to herself.

    Emotional Characteristics
    Introvert or Extrovert? Introvert
How does the character deal with anger? Violently.

    ----------------------------With sadness? Withdrawing
    ----------------------------With conflict? Violently
    ----------------------------With change? Violently
----------------------------With loss? Violently (I think I sense a pattern)

What does the character want out of life? Self-improvement

What would the character like to change in his/her life? She never seems pleased, but she can never put a finger on what she wants to change.

What motivates this character? Conflict and passion towards short and long term goals

What frightens this character? Machinery/technology. For example, if she were to go into a car factory and be surrounded by automated machines, she would likely freak out and start destroying things if she couldn’t run away first.

What makes this character happy? Despite her anger issues, there are quite a few things that make her happy. If one can get through her defense barriers, she does enjoy affection like any canine does. She enjoys company even if she doesn’t act like it. She loves a good fight, and she loves to train. The painting she is/will take to has a calming effect upon her, and simply enjoying nature- hiking, running, hunting- all those things, bring some sense of calm to her rabid flames.

Is the character judgmental of others? Excessively so

Is the character generous or stingy? Oddly, she is quite generous. Since she really desires little to nothing for herself, she doesn’t mind giving up what she does have to better another. It is one of the few backwards traits she maintains.
Is the character generally polite or rude? It entirely depends on the situation. She is utterly neutral, quiet, and respectful unless some stimuli changes the mood.

"Too many look only to the future, believing it to hold better things. You are your past. To forget it, to move on from it, leaves behind the essence that created that which is self."

    - Under Many Re-Writes. Details May Change -

    Part I

“Faster!” One of the many Officer Jennys screamed from one end of the training field. The hand-selected group of young growlithes dashed over wooden plank walls and man-made ponds, under barbed wire tunnels and rope lattices, and around poles and barrels. Each one kept up with the other, though some would stand out. Some always stood out.

The police-dogs-in-training let their hearts of fire push them, but only the ones that were truly led by their flames would succeed in this task. They had gone through boot camp, they had learned all that could be taught in training. This was their final feat of strength and passion. They came upon the final obstacle, two of the seven young growlithes had already fallen too far behind. The final five bolted up the platform, only to realize the platform ended abruptly with a ten foot fall beneath. They skidded to a halt- all but one. That one turned, pushed off the edge of that platform and flew.

Her tiny clawed paws connected to a climbing bar off to the side, pushed off of it, connected to another bar, and zigzagged down to the ground in that fashion, landing hard but not nearly as hard as if she’d fallen- like the others expected would have happened. It only took a second for the other growlithes to follow suit in that way, arriving at her side moments later. But the decision had been made. They only needed one. Only one of the primary growlithe team would go on to join the special forces.

What the special forces entailed, none of the young pups knew, but they knew they had to prove themselves to get there and that’s all that mattered. Kyrea, so named because of her dominant attitude (Kyrea/Kyria meaning Lady or Queen), was picked up by the commanding Jenny and a different sort of collar was slipped around her neck. It was black with a tiny gold entei-like marking upon it.

“Congratulations, little one; little Kyrea. Your life just got a lot harder, but it will be worth it. It will all be worth it in the end.”

As always, such tales were spun to inspire confidence and allow that sort of bravery without hesitation that was so necessary in the more dangerous missions. Kyrea was removed from her original team, and placed in a different sort of training. One which promoted speed and stealth, power and defense. It was draining, it was difficult. But her pride would not allow defeat, nor would her flames. It was not long until her missions began. They involved breaking high-danger drug dealings, hostage situations and bomb and biochemical weaponry defense. Much happened during these missions; much that steeled her heart and embellished her inner flames. Much that she would never speak about again.

It would be after she felt seasoned and experienced that her real trial would come. It had truly only been a couple of years since she had first been selected for the special forces team, though it had felt like much longer when they got a tip about some laboratory tinkering in things nobody should mess with.

    Cloning and mind control.

The danger of this went unspoken, and their debriefing meeting was short. They had little information, and even less experience with what they were about to walk into. Kyrea’s Officer Jenny partner was no cadet, and the growlithe trusted her in the unconditional extent that this job required. They had been together since the young growlithe had first been caught and throughout her training. Her life was little to give to protect her Jenny, her human. And this is beside whom she stood as their special operations (the Pokemon Police Force SWAT team, if you will) mobilized outside of the laboratory facility. Reconnaissance had actively been collecting information for this movement over approximately one month, but there was little they could find besides the basic layout of the building. It would be all they had to work with, and it would have to be good enough. An hour post-twilight, they decided, they would move in.

The force surrounded the building and entered at once. Those without canines slipped in first, and then the rest followed in what they suspected would be an overwhelming number with respect to whatever they would find inside. They were right. The lab had various guards scattered around the entrances and within and multiple scientists manning the main rooms, but the bulk of what they would find would be mostly machinery and various tanks with creatures floating in eerie stasis.

The team thought this would be far easier than they suspected it to be. The guards and scientists were quickly subdued, and the Commanding Officer Jenny with Kyrea keen at her side had just arrived at the main site; the main tank holding some creature she could not quite put a finger on. As her hand reached for it, fingers reaching for the button to release whatever it may be and shut down the operation, the whole facility shook violently, sending both Officer Jenny, her team, and their pokemon companions into objects or on the ground, their feet and paws knocked out from beneath them. Explosions began erupting around them, the ceiling was crumbling from above. Electricity sparked and sprayed into the rooms from ruptured wires. Papers and fabrics caught the sparks, fire blazing into being from various corners.

The quaking didn’t cease, and the particles from the ceiling and walls became chunks and beams. The building was collapsing. Frantic screaming began. Despite the utter training they all had gone through, when they found their exits cut off from some unknown force and right before their eyes they saw nothing but the end of their lives, the last things they could think of, that they could scream for, was for help, to see their families again, or just in anguish as the realization of their hopelessness hit them.

In front of the main console, Kyrea snarled, trying to find whatever it was that was attacking them, but a scream behind her caught her off-guard. It was a familiar voice, and it shattered her reality. Fire-hued eyes turned to the sight she wanted least to see; her partner was beneath one of the heavy iron beams that had fallen from above. Most of her body was buried in the debris that had fallen with it, and she laid now silent and still- unconscious, and dying. The tiny growlithe yelped piteously, tiny white teeth taking her sleeve into her mouth and pulling as hard as her little body could manage. She struggled and strained, yanking backwards. With each tear of fabric, she’d regrip and try again.

Tears dotted the edge of her puppy-like eyes.

The futility of her situation would not waver her resolve. Even when debris continued falling, bruising her tiny body, and electricity caught on her furs, singing her- she stayed at her partner’s side. The smoke was beginning to be suffocating- the air unbreathable, she struggled to keep herself standing. If she gave up, it truly would be over.

And just as blackness began to claim her too, a pair of hands- or, at least, what felt like hands- picked her up. With the last breath she could remember, she howled a pitiful puppy-like howl of desperation as the sight of her Jenny fell away, and the air of the night washed over her as she was lifted away and upwards into the star-speckled sky. An odd feeling rushed into her just as she let the achy sleep overtake her, slipping away from consciousness and her failure.

    Part II

When Kyrea awoke, she would no longer be a growlithe. A forced evolution had saved her life at the PokeCenter where she had been left by whomever – or whatever- had taken her away from the lab. And Jenny.

The thought made her growl, and she felt a rage burning in her that was ten times, no a hundred times more intense than what she had ever felt before. Maybe that weird feeling she felt right before she blacked out had something to do with it. Maybe the chemicals from the ruptured tanks did. She didn’t know. But whatever it was, she wanted revenge. She wanted to be the chaos that her flames represented. She wanted to fight, and never stop.

And she would get her wish, though skewed as it may have been. Her partner had a son, now motherless after her death, and Kyrea would be given to him as a gift. Her anger and new size as an Arcanine made her impossible to control within the police force, so they could no longer manage her as part of the team. Her retirement was one of honor; the only survivor of the laboratory raid, but she wouldn’t take it as such, not with her wicked desire to make up for that which she considered such an unforgivable failure.

Ryan, the officer’s son, attempted to reroute her anger into pokemon battling and tournaments. This worked well, most of the time, though he tended to rely a bit too heavily on her even in elementally unfavorable battles. They grew close, forming some remnant of a bond, though Kyrea would never have the trust in a human the same as the one she lost ever again.

    Part III

    - From Introductory Roleplay Scene -

    “What’s wrong with you!”

It was towards the end of the battling era, and some pokemon had been battling for years. Many had gotten tired after all of the traveling, the insistent training, the gym battles and the tournaments. It was an endless stream of work and wear. A tiresome cycle of build ups and let downs, winning and losing, excitement and heartbreak. How much of a beating, and for how many years, could these creatures take? Most of these exhausted and beaten pokemon were being let back into the wild, others were attached enough to their trainers that they were willing to live on with them in comfort and reserve.
    Not Kyrea.

The boy, now grown to a young adult like most trainers had by now, clenched his fists, gritting his teeth as he surveyed the destruction of his yard. Fire had engulfed most of his boyhood treasures; his tire swing lay on the ground melted, his sandbox was glossy with glass fragments from the melted sand particles, and little remained of the tree house he spent so many a’night in.

The culprit growled in response, though the sound was muffled since the Arcanine lay on the singed and blackened ground, chewing on the now-cooled melted rubber of the tire swing like a dog with a rawhide bone. She was a glorious beast, obviously trained to the most extensive degree. So much so, in fact, that she couldn’t let it go. The fact that she had to remain idle for so long had brought a bitterness to her heart that she couldn’t release. It made her frustrated and irritable, and boredom mixed with the ability to produce flame was a very dangerous combination.

Life lesson #1: Never buy a puppy that can breathe fire.

The problem was, Ryan- the trainer- had spent so much time with his Arcanine and felt so bonded after all the heartaches the pair had endured, he couldn’t bear to let her go. She was his second pokemon, and the only one that had remained in his team since the very first of his days. Not only was she his second pokemon, but she was an ex-police dog of sorts as a growlithe and upon evolution as well. She was a gift from his parents, with a history that as of yet has gone unsaid. Most of his pokemon by now he had released to the wild, and it had pained him greatly to do so. He had come so close to greatness, failing only at the level of the League Champion, and it was all because of one poor choice. In the heat of the moment, he had forgotten the very basics of his pokemon knowledge, trusting in his Arcanine’s power and speed to pull them through no matter the stakes. He sent Kyrea forward in snarling flames to attack a Camerupt. Gound and fire. The attack had almost no effect whatsoever, despite Kyrea’s groomed and extensive training. Countered by an earthquake after an already painstaking battle, she fell. And could not get back up.

And because he could not let her go, she had to stay with him in his home, now dormant after so many years of activity. She grew more and more destructive, yearning to fight again. Needing to fight again. Her fiery passion and spirit couldn’t deal with idleness, and Ryan was beginning to see and feel this for himself. And it pained him, greatly.

Kyrea had some of that same bond that he had to her, though it had weakened in the few months recently that they had stopped traveling. They had even skipped the pokemon races this year, something pokemon as fast as Arcanine looked forward to in earnest. That remnant of their initial bond was the reason she hadn’t run off on her own since he allowed her complete freedom of her pokeball. But more and more, she was getting to be a headache Ryan couldn’t keep any longer. Instead of staying angry, he understood her frustration. Thus, he only sighed, disappointment shifting over his expression like a foreboding shadow. He would have to release her. He was tired of battling, and he had met a girl who wanted nothing more than to settle down. And not only was Kyrea a bitter creature, she was a jealous one too, and often spent the nights outside like a dog chained to a doghouse to allow them their nights together.

The Arcanine stood, shaking herself off while still rumbling in a grumpy growl. As she neared the trainer in a few slow strides, she bumped her large furry head up against Ryan’s raised hands in a light nuzzle. It seemed contradictive, but the fluidity with which they met in the making-up firedog-human hug showed that it was a relatively common occurrence. One hand that had been on her muzzle moved back to grab her long furry mane, and he vaulted up on her back as she knelt slightly. The excitement warmed her already heated body, embers filtering off the long feathered furs of her legs and belly.

    “Alright, my friend, let’s go.”

They took off like the wind, Kyrea’s lean and athletic form stretching to its furthest ‘til her paws would find purchase on the ground almost by the tips of her canid claws and vaulting into the wind again. Like her species, it was like running on air, so swift as they were for their size. A wolf with the color and heat of fire flying past houses, passersby and buildings. Ryan had done this so often, they were as one as they flew down the sidewalk, darting between carts and crowds with little hiccup to their speed.

Usually, nothing would sway her from her fiery passion and ecstasy of flight and fury. But some sense pulled at her quietly at first, then stronger. Perhaps a scent? A sound? A taste on her lolling tongue caught adrift from the passing breeze? Whatever it was, it made her black-tipped ears twitch gently, and her path change. Ryan had no particular direction, and made no question as to her shift in stride and choice of street. It was a quieter road, one with less people to terrify with a giant fire-wolf sprinting by them with fur a’fly. But to his surprise, her stride slowed as they neared a shop he had never seen before.

“Canine arrr ar arcanine.” She rumbled quietly as she came to a stop. She wasn’t pleased about whatever had drawn her here, but she was rarely pleased about anything aside from running and fighting. Fire-lit golden eyes stared at the door of the soup shop, and her lips curled back slightly to show the bright white fangs beneath.

“What’s wrong?” Ryan slipped off the eternally-grumpy Arcanine’s back, leaving his hand on her warm furry shoulder like one would a horse. “If you’re hungry, there’s plenty of food at home, you know that.” But, she moved her head and bumped his shoulder, pushing him closer to the door. He wouldn’t question her, not when he knew they would have to part soon enough.

He pushed open the door, and would have stopped if the Arcanine behind him didn’t insist on fitting herself in through the door as well.

“What on earth..” Ryan’s eyes widened, unable to continue walking much farther as he realized just what was inside this quiet little shop. Humans that weren’t humans, pokemon that weren’t pokemon. The chef he could see through the back kitchen door had a tail and a distinctly Persian quality about him. Stunned by the sights, sounds, and absolute impossibility that overwhelmed his senses, he was only brought back by the sound of whimpering behind him.

Kyrea was crouched down right in front of the door, golden eyes shut tightly as if in pain. Her muscles twitched and spasmed, and claws gripped at the shop’s tiled floor. Muscles, bones, joints, organs, flesh- everything was rearranging, shifting. Some things shrank, some things grew. Some things broke down entirely while other things were synthesized from nothing. Her entire form began to shrink, fur regressed into a shorter and shorter coat, mane became long locks of white hair. Canine-like head became less so, though retained some specifically doggish features. Large paws shrank, morphed, joints broke apart and reformed into fingers instead of paw digits. Hips, knees and ankles adjusted, and she dropped to her knees, curling into a smaller and smaller ball.

Gritted teeth which retained their wolfish fangs restrained a scream, and after what felt like an eternity- an eternity of discomfort far beyond evolution- that was truly only a few moments, she laid quieter on the floor, face hidden in a mess of white hair. The Arcanine was no longer a pokemon, not truly. Entering the doorway of the shop had instigated a massive biochemical reaction, destabilizing her structure and transforming her. An anthropomorphic change. Human characteristics now dominated her once wolf-like form and mind.

Ryan had turned around just as the transformation had begun, and he stood motionless, shocked into absolute stillness, fear, and worry over his precious partner. But as he looked upon her now, with human fingers, human form, and- as he would soon find out- human words to speak, how could he ever think of her in that way again? She slowly pushed herself up, black-tipped ears flattened back against her white haired head. Fierce golden eyes remained from her prior form, and they looked up in both confusion and anger- an anger that would likely soon quickly escalate. Ryan pulled his jacket off and draped it around her shoulders, shoulders which were still lined with long furs and feathers that trailed down the back of her arms as they would if she was still upon all fours. The same went for a circle of white furs around her knees and down the backs of her thighs. Her form was similar, but she was certainly utterly different. A different sort of creature entirely.

“What-“ The first word she’d speak would be halted quickly by a hand slapped over what should have been a muzzle. English words? Not possible. Wrinkles settled over her features, anger pinching the skin between her eyes and down to her nose. Those fiery eyes of hers burned, and she released her mouth and stood up, wavering at first with the change of balance. Fortunately, she still had that long furry tail, which swayed to counterbalance her attempts at being a bipedal organism, one no longer of Arcanine stature but a 5'6" 140lb creature of feminine shape. Staggering, she eventually righted herself, looking as furious as ever, “What happened?” She snarled. Her gaze was at her now-ex-trainer, though that look was not of blame. He had no answers for her.

    But she would find some.

Newly formed fingers gripped a chair and awkwardly lifted it and threw it- hard- knocking over another pair of chairs and a table, salt, pepper and silverware tossed across the floor. “What happened!” She howled, almost falling over from the effort of throwing the chair and not knowing how to compensate the weight.

Life lesson #2: When all else fails, start throwing things.
