Willow solemnly trudged through the streets of thick smog, adjusting his gas mask every now and then if he felt it would slip. He glanced about at the deserted homes and offices

The flash of sharp eyes glinted in the darkness of an alley for a moment, watching Willow through the smog.

They tiny red balls of light reappeared again after a little more than a minute.

The lights flickered a little before vanishing again. They were definitely reflections in a pair of eyes.

Akila sat out front the mental ward, her eyes distant, through fixed on the decreped hospital across the street. The woman's mind wandered and she couldn't even hear the world around her. She only heard her heavyish breathing through her mask, even if two of the boys were yelling and running around. One of them in a cat suit.

The shadow of some sort of animal shrank back into the darkness, its body pressed against the wall and the reflective red glow from its eyes gleaming back at Willow through the smog.

Akila blinked when the two boys toppled into her view.

A doglike creature with a hunched back and some sort of acidic slime oozing from the half-decayed holes in its body snarled and lunged forward, knocking into Willow's shoulders and snapping viciously at his face and the mask that covered it.

Willow fell onto his back, but quickly drove his billyclub through the gap between the animal's jaws
