I got my first tattoo 10 days ago.
It's around the bottom of my leg, close to the ankle.
I've been wearing jeans that flare at the bottom. It hasn't been irritating but I have a few concerns.
I just got a pair of skinny jeans and thinking of wearing them soon but my tattoo is stilll healing. It's been itchy, somewhat scabby, and it looks like the ink is peeling.
I've been putting lotion on it everyday since I got it. 2/3 times a day.
So, when should I wear the skinny jeans?
And should I worry about the ink/peeling.
I've looked this up a few times before but I would like some more information.

does the lotion you use contain petroleum? That could cause some of your problems!

Wait until you are fully healed. The jeans could tear off the scabs and take ink with them, leaving holes in your tattoo, which no one likes.
Tattoo ink can stain, I know from experience. Same with the lotion you may be using. If it's greasy or sticky or anything with a Vaseline texture, that could stain your jeans as well, same with your socks.
So yeah, wait until you are fully healed, then wear the skinnies.

Same with the lotion you may be using. If it's greasy or sticky or anything with a Vaseline texture, that could stain your jeans as well, same with your socks. So yeah, wait until you are fully healed, then wear the skinnies. yeah I was thinking that just 100% sure. I don't want anything messing with the healing process. It's been almost 2 weeks so wait 2 or 3 more? And when do I stop using the lotion?

Petroleum lotions are greasy, and can leave greasy stains in your clothes. I recommend Eucerin (sp?) lotion. It has no scents, colors, flavors, nothing like that. It's just pure clean lotion. Aquaphor is also made by Eucerin, but it has a petroleum like texture, and can leave greasy stains. So again, anything with a Vaseline-like texture isn't good for wearing under clothes, because it can leave greasy stains.

If it's plain basic Lubirderm, then yes, that should be fine. If it has any scents or colors or flavors or anything like that, then no. Test a little bit out on a corner of your tattoo. If it stings, that means it has something in it that isn't good for your tattoo. Scented lotions, like anything from Bath and Body Works, I'm sure you've used on your legs just after shaving or something. Notice how it stings and burns? Same thing with tattoos. A&D is good stuff too. I've never used it, but I hear it's great.

All this info is spot on. Firstly, congratulations on your new tattoo. Secondly, A&D is a godsend for tattoos. The vitamins will help preserve the ink as well as keep your skin healthy and beautiful. My only thing with A&D is that you have to get it moderately warm before you apply it, at room temperature it is stiff and difficult to get even coverage. Take the tube and hold it in your hand for about 2-3 minutes. That tends to warm it up enough to soften it to the point that it will spread properly. A&D is good stuff too. I've never used it, but I hear it's great.

As well as a wax that is from petroleum. 3nodding
