M O S S K I T xxx&XXX B L U E K I T Mosskit's raspy tongue scraped across the skull of her dozing brother, her saliva wetted down his head in the center. Their tails were wound together in a mass of brown and light silver blue. Bluekits large blue eyes turned up to his sister, meeting her identical eyes. "what are you thinking of?" He asked suddenly, voice lazy. He was easily twice the size of the smaller she kit, heighth, width, weight. She rolled a shoulder, her brown ears twitching slightly. "I just... wish this someone would chose one of us as an apprentice. Its nearly time." She said slowly, yawning she stood, shaking her fluffy fur out and glanced over at her brother. "I dont know why you would want to be a medicine cat." Bluekits' muzzle wrinkled, lumbering to his feet he leaped over to his sister, not letting her get to far ahead of him. "I'm to small to be a warrior. It would be pointless." She mewed, her eyes on her white tipped paws.
Bluekit rolled his eyes and shouldered his sister, knocking her over easily. "Stop being such a downer Moss." He meowed, shortening her name. He never could understand what the point of kits and apprentices all having the same ending on their name. His sister picked herself up and launched at him, biting on his ear and knocking him over with her weight.

When the phoenix rises from his ashes He reminds the world of her clashes But he brings a bright light of hope A rising sun that glides along the slope
When the dragon roars and bares his teeth He reminds the world of the fire underneath But he brings a great revelation A dawning realization that there is a destination
When the wolf pounces on his prey He reminds the world of her disarray But he brings a blanket of shame An anger quickly turning into a flame ■Softstep■WindClan■Warrior■ A long yawn threatened the jaws of Softstep as she padded out of the warrior's den. It had only been a couple moons since she had become a warrior but still she found it hard to get herself up everyday. The sun shone down on her pelt, licking her with warmth. She couldn't help but purr at the sensation. Softstep stretched and arched her beck, hoping to get the grogginess out of her muscles. She debated going hunting but she wanted to wait until a few others were awake. She didn't feel hungry, the elders would be asleep. The only voices she heard were coming from the nursery.
With a glint in her eyes Softstep bounded to the nursery. As she had expected it was the duo, Mosskit and Bluekit. "What are you both doing up so early?" she asked, slowing her pace to a crawl before stopping about a tail length away from the two. She didn't talk much, it was almost a rare occasion with her, but she knew how to talk to kits, her voice was calm and smooth. Though these kits could take harsher voices, they would no doubt be apprenticed soon. She half wondered if she would get an apprentice though at her young age she doubted it. When the serpent uncoils from the deep abyss He reminds the world of a rebellion that resists But he brings an unification of the races And of their differences, there are no traces

M O S S K I T xxx&XXX B L U E K I T Mosskit's large blue eyes turned up to the voice that came from above, one of Bluekits' ears in her tiny jaws, her white fluffy fur poofed out even more. She spat out the ear as blue kit answered.
"Mosskit woke me up when she had a bad dream." He mewled, his wet ear flicked back and forth, aggitated by the water. He jumped up, embarassed to be found being beat by his sister. He padded away from his sister, easily shrugging her off him, swiping his paw at his ear to rid it of the moisture that still lingered. "I was letting her win Softstep." He meowed as he pawed his ear.
Mosskit shook her head and giggled "He is lying. He just wants to impress you in hopes he gets chosen to be an apprentice." The brown and white ragdoll kit smiled up at the older orange tabby. "What are you doing up Softstep? usually your one of the last to wake." If there was one quality the kit had it was the ability to observe.

Had she been the same with her brother? She couldn't remember that far in the past. "I'm sure Mosskit won fair and square." she purred, lowering her head toward the young tom. "Being defeated isn't so bad. You get to learn from your experiences and hope that one day you can battle again and triumph."
The striped she-cat gave her chest a quick lick to hide her embarrassment. What Mosskit said was true, Softstep was usually among the last to wake. "Well, aren't you attentive. she meowed, reaching out and lightly prodding the kit, "No particular reason. I woke up and simply couldn't drift back to sleep." M O S S K I T xxx&XXX B L U E K I T The male kit lifted his eyes to the orange tabby, a dazed look crossing his small face. "Your right." He meowed, almost as though startled by the revalation. He glanced over at his sister. "I'll be the best warrior out there!" He stated proudly, his little white chest puffing out slightly, though it faltered when he got an itch, his hind paw moved and clawed behind his ear passively.
Mosskits eyes strayed from her brother to Softstep, a small impish smile appearing on the kits face. "i've got to be attentive if I plan on being the medicine cat apprentice!" She said matter of factly. She would do anything to get that rank. She stumbled slightly as the larger cat prodded her. If her brother was easily twice her size this cat could be ten. "Did.... did you have a bad dream too?" She asked softly, her wide blue eyes gazing up into the others light gold ones.

She hadn't thought that Mosskit would want to be a medicine cat apprentice. It was a large decision. She wouldn't participate in battles as much, would hunt the same amount and wouldn't be able to take a mate. To be so sure at such a young age, it showed strength.
A sigh escaped the warrior's jaws. This kit seemed to be able to sense things, almost as if she could read minds. "Not necessarily bad it was...different." She lost herself in thought for only a split second before shaking her head, "Nothing to worry about." With another stretch, Softstep settled herself down on her belly. "I would like to hear about your dream, if you wish to share." She purred lightly, still aware of Bluekit just a little ways away from his sister. Softstep, gave him a soft flick with her tail as encouragement. She was sure he would be a great warrior, but first he would need to be a great apprentice. M O S S K I T xxx&XXX B L U E K I T The male kit rolled his pale eyes and settled in next to his sister, who seemed a bit hesitant. He licked her ears, calming her down. If there was one thing Bluekit knew, it was he loved his sister very much. and would be there for her through thick and thin.
Mosskit glanced away, laying down she sighed as her brother came to calm her down, her little heart raced in her chest, eyes focused on the ground. "well..." She began hesitantly, a small shake running up her little body. "I was out there. in the trees. and grass. and there was a cat infront of me. a white and silver one with long flowing hair. He kept looking back at me... he didnt seem happy... just kept motioning for me to follow... Soon we were at the top of a large hill that over looks a path with no trees and is gray. He turned to me and said 'look little one. you see this path. soon this path will take over all. and with it will come death of fresh kill and cat. Tree and insect. there will be nothing.' her eyes watered, by now she was trembling with enough force her voice shook. Gulping down air she turned her eyes to the she cat. "He then told me to follow him again. So i did. We reached the treeless path and he stepped out on it and... and..." She burried her face in her brothers fur, her little cries frantic, smothered.
"A big, shiny, smelly, coughing thing came down the path and hit him." Her brother supplied, a confused look on his face. though Mosskit quickly quipped in. "he bounced once... twice... then on the third landed on the treeless path... there was red stuff... it came out of his nose and ears and-" She shook her head "Bluekit woke me up cause i was yowling..." She said, gazing down at her white paws in silence.
What she didn't know was she had just described in detail the thunderpath, and a fellow cat being hit by a car.

Even when she recognized what she was describing, the warrior did not speak, it was better to let the kit get it out of her system. One thing bothered her though, what she had said about what would happen, it would 'take over all.' That didn't sound comforting. If the thunder path took everything over then the clans would need to relocate, or worse, would die.
When Mosskit had finished, Softstep shifted, tucking her paws beneath her chest. "There is nothing to fear. Let me explain. That 'treeless path' is actually called the Thunderpath and the smelly coughing thing was a monster. They come down the Thunderpath often. But they are easily avoided if you know what you are doing."
Softstep shifted closer and set her tail on the young cat's head, trying to comfort her. "Do not worry about the cat in your dream. There have been no reports of any cat being hit by a monster in quite a while." she cooed "I know death is not an easy thing to see, even in a dream, but you have to remember, in your dreams, nothing can hurt you, and that cat, whom ever he is, if he is real, isn't laying on the Thunderpath, battered and broken, more then likely he is alive and well."
"One day when you are an apprentice, or a medicine cat apprentice, you will be taught about the Thunderpath again, you may even have to cross one, though, it will probably be an old one, nothing to worry about as long as you are with a trained warrior." Softstep didn't know if her words were comforting or not, but they were the truth, and she knew it was better to tell the truth then let the kit go on thinking that the 'treeless path' in her dream was fake. M O S S K I T xxx&XXX B L U E K I T Mosskits' eyes seemed to grow larger and larger with every word the warrior she-cat said, her tail flicked slightly back and forth. "Okay..." She meowed, almost silently, her eyes, large disks in her head turned to her brother who had fallen back to sleep beside her. Her gaze flicked back to Softstep, before she rested her head on his back. "How did I dream of something that doesn't exist?" She meowed, her forhead wrinkled slightly in frustration. She shook her head, and sighed. "You know... He is starting to lose hope of finding a mentor." She said, her eyes scanning her brother fondly. "Perhaps..." Her eyes turned to the female cat "... you could be his mentor?" She asked, almost excitedly.

Softstep purred, happy she could help in some small way. Though it probably wasn't comforting due to the fact that she dream could mean that a cat would soon be hit on the Thunderpath.
Softstep shook the thought from her mind and sighed. It was true, both Mosskit and Bluekit were of age to be apprenticed. Mosskit had her future chosen, but Bluekit...he was not as lucky. He hadn't been assigned a mentor as of yet. "I am a young warrior, I do not believe I posses the knowledge to take a position as a mentor. Even if I was experience, I would need to ask permission from Emberstar..."
Softstep grew slightly nervous, though the only hint was her constant kneading of the ground in front of her. Since the day she became a warrior she wanted an apprentice. She knew it didn't work that way, Emberstar would have to pair them up, but perhaps if she did talk to him..."I can't promise him that I can be his mentor, but I may be able to get him out of camp for a little while, introduce him to the territory. But I can promise I will talk to Emberstar."
