User ImageWhen one stumbles upon Kagamigakure, they find what looks almost like a medieval village. The buildings are very, very old and most are of modest size. Some are traditional looking buildings while others have grass roofs or are built into the landscape. There are no gates surrounding the Hidden Mirror Village and no sign telling you where you are. It is a very small village, still mostly unknown to the ninja world at large and yet they have a very long history.

The village was founded hundreds possibly even thousands of years ago, before ninjas ever came to be. No one knows for sure but the elders. The people of the village, though many look human, are descended from an elf-like race and some still bear those features such as pointed ears or very fair skin. Many of the current residents are said to be exceptionally beautiful. The village lies nestled in a deep, dark forest where the sun rarely breaks through the canopy of the trees. Those who even dare to enter that forest may be lucky enough to enter the mirror village. To those who enter with good intentions are welcomed warmly and treated like family. Those who enter with bad intentions, even to one of their allied villages, will be put under a genjutsu immediately when they are within range. That genjutsu will have them wandering in subtly changing landscape and when they are released they are out of the forest, on the opposite side of where they entered or perhaps somewhere else entirely.

They are known for their main clan's kekkei genkai. It is known as the 'Tamashii Kyou' or the 'Soul Mirror'. Every child that is born in Kagamigakure is tested for this kekkei genkai by being given a mirror at birth. If the mirror reacts to their chakra, then they have the gift. The kekkei genkai allows the user to do anything from simply looking in the mirror to find something to entombing a soul in the mirror forever. The only person to ever do this is the first and current Kagamikage, Chinatsu Yuuko.

Kagamigakure never really had a need for ninja until around fifty years ago when a ninja team stumbled upon them. As word spread of this village, others became curious and covetous of their secrets. The village began to train shinobi and build up its defenses when they realized that they were in very real danger of a full scale attack. Yuuko became the first Kagamikage now that they have enough ninja to even need a kage and while they have managed to stay out of wars and other shinobi affairs they are at least now prepared should they ever need to be.
