Warrior’s Dictionary----->

*These are just some terms often used that a few people who are new to Warriors or who don't know much about them can look at the help them if they need it.


Clan- A social structure consisting of cats who are either related or share a common background.
Ex. Both kits were born into Forest Clan and share a common background even though they have different parents.

Leader- A cat given nine lives by Star Clan who leads the clan and makes great decisions concerning the clan. Leaders are warriors too but respected and to be followed. They join patrols, make kits apprentices, give apprentices their warrior names, and choose who attends a gathering.

Deputy- The leader’s second in command who organizes patrols, hunting parties, etc. Helps the leader and will become leader once he/she dies.

Patrols- Patrol the border renewing scent markers and making sure other Clan’s stay off their territory and don’t steal prey.

Hunting Patrols- Hunt for the clan. Usually a small group of warriors and apprentices.

Star Clan- Ancient ancestors of the Clans who share their wisdom with leaders and medicine cats. When a cat dies they join Star Clan.

Medicine Cats- Healers of the Clan. Know a great deal about herbs and are not held down by boundaries like borders and being from a different clan although they are respectful of other Clans and don’t stray from their own territories unless they need help from another medicine cat. They are respected greatly and interpret signs from Star Clan.

Apprentices- A warrior mentor teaches them to become a warrior. They have the suffix ‘paw. Do menial chores such as change bedding, fetching moss, etc.
Ex. Ashpaw

Warriors- Main fighting force of the Clans. They hunt and protect their Clan while training young cats to be warriors.
Ex. Ashfeather

Queens- She cats expecting or nursing kits. They leave the nursery when their kits become apprentices and resume their warrior duties.

Nursery- Where queens and kits stay. Has more protection than any other den.

Kits- Baby kittens who become apprentices at six moons old. Have the suffix ‘kit.
Ex. Ashkit

A Moon- A time term meaning one month.
Ex. Two moons = two months=one week in real life

Elders- Old warriors who have retired. They are cared for and respected. Very wise and usually love to tell stories to kits.

Camp- A place where the Clans make their home with separate dens for the leaders, warriors, apprentices, medicine cats, and nurseries.

Gathering- A time of truce for all Clans to gather and share news that is always on the full moon. Clans can mingle and here news from other clans but once the gathering is over the truce ends.

Crow-food: rotting food

Fox dung- an insult; stronger offense than mouse-brain

Fresh-kill: recently killed prey

Greencough- severe chest infection, which can be fatal in elders and young kits

Greenleaf- summer

Leaf-bare: winter

Leaf-fall: fall/autumn

Loner- cat that live peacefully on its own territory in one place but doesn’t defend its territory

Moonhigh- the time of night when the moon is at its highest-often midnight

Mouse-brain: not very smart; insult

Mouse dung- an insult; stronger than mouse-brain but less offensive than fox dung

Newleaf- spring

Rogue- a potentially hostile cat who lives outside the Clans and never spends too long in one place

Sharing tongues- term used to describe cats grooming each other

Silverpelt- the Milky Way

Sunhigh- noon

Whitecough- mild chest infection
