Ten years after Team Galactic's crushing defeat and the rise of a new League Champion, another Champion arises, one that now after twenty years' reign as "The Fifth Wonder" has brought about a time of hopelessness for trainers nationwide, his name remaining a mystery, most referring to him only as "Wonder". Through all this, the Pokemon League has reformed its rules, allowing for significantly more rest between the Elite Four and its champion. Our story starts with this challenger approaching the Champion, The Fifth Wonder...

Name: Arannis (Known so far only as "The Fifth Wonder" or "Wonder")
Bio: To Be Discovered...
Team: Staraptor, Luxray, Roserade, Milotic, Rapidash, Lucario
Appearance: A gold vest, matching pants and boots, silver hair tied back in a ponytail, and golden sunglasses that completely hide the eyes. Skin tone, even, is goldish.
Arannis stood calmly at his place in the arena, his face showing no emotion, no concern, nothing.

Biography: In Progress
Team: Garchomp, Lucario, Umbreon, Espeon, Infernape, Darkrai
Apperance: 5'10, Shoulder Length Brown hair, Grey eyes. Wearing a black fedora on top of his head, a black dress shirt, and dress pants. He has his Pokeballs attached to the slots on his belt, and wears a more modern pokedex on his left wrist.
Seichi stretched as he walked up the steps towards the Champion of the Pokemon League. He had finally decided to come after the one called "The Fifth Wonder" for the Title Match. Looking out as he entered the Arena, he spotted his opponent.

(Darkrai...? Never heard of it.)
Arannis nodded slowly, acknowledging his challenger. Six poke-ball shaped golden spheres appeared behind him, three on each side, forming into a hexagonal pattern and rotating quickly behind him, blurring into a circle. A ray of gold light shot out from its peak out onto the field, Staraptor forming from it. The circle came to a stop, five of the spheres remaining in a pentagonal pattern, the top above and behind Arannis.

Seichi reached back behind him as he threw a pokeball into the arena, the beam of light emitting Darkrai into play. He smirked at the Champion.
"So, no crowd this time?"

(Gotcha... Guess I've never seen it before. Hmm...)
Arannis looked emotionlessly to Seichi. As if from nowhere, and yet all around, a mysterious voice sounded.
"It was by design. I knew you would come."
The Staraptor rushed at Darkrai, not even commanded as it performed a Quick Attack.

Seichi growled, as he commanded Darkrai to attempt to dodge, then follow up with Double Team.
"Design that I would come? I'm here to beat you and become the new Champion.."

"I did not lay down the designs for you to come, sir. Only the design for there to be no witnesses. There is reason enough for it. Defeat me, and you will know just what that is."
The voice sounded again (yes, that's actually how he talks, not even opening his mouth when he does). The Staraptor came around, flying out into a Wing Attack at a false Darkrai.

Seichi commanded Darkrai to use unleash Omnious Wind upon the Staraptor suddenly.

Quite unexpectedly, the Staraptor took the hit, regardless of its having been a Normal pokemon, suddenly downed and forming into a silver mist and rushing back at Arannis, who now raised a hand to his forehead as if suffering a minor headache.
"Outstanding. I had not expected anyone to perfect the unison..."
The spheres behind him rotated again, another light streaking out and forming his Roserade, who immediately launched into a Magical Leaf. The spheres stopped again, a square behind Arannis.

Seichi smirked, as Staraptor went down. As Roserade was unleashed into battle, he called back Darkrai, only to release Infernape, taking some damage from the Magical Leaf.
"Interesting attack, but can it survive this? Infernape! Use Flame Wheel!"

The Roserade barely had enough time to put out a Stun Spore before caught in the blaze, again forming into the silver mist and returning to Arannis, who clutched his left arm.
"Impressive to a fault. I'm not quite through, though..."
The circling spheres again, a little faded in places, as the floor of the arena opened into a sizable pool for the forming Milotic to take shape, the water coming up and down on Infernape in a Waterfall.

As the waterfall took out Infernape, Seichi gritted his teeth. He pulled the fallen comrade back from the battle, to unleash Darkrai again.
"Fine..A water type.. Darkrai, you know what to do!" he yelled, as it began to unleash Thunder towards Milotic.

The Thunder struck, Milotic taking a heavy hit but its Ice element granting it some reprieve. It fired an Ice Beam out at Darkrai.
Meanwhile, Arannis' left leg quivered slightly, otherwise keeping his calm.

Darkrai came within seconds of dodging thethe Ice Beam, as it attempted to unleash Dark Void onto Milotic.
