First I'd like to say I love my little 214, but recently the rubber seal around the sunroof has decayed to the state where it now flaps around in the breeze, and has exposed that the entire sunroof is now made of rust (Due to corrosion caused by leaking seals)
I need to seal the gaps around the glass pane, it's getting to the point of the year where there is alot of rain, and on more than one occassion in the last week I have got into the driver's seat, only to find I didnt notice the small lake forming in the footwell or the patch of drenched material on the seat itself.
I have checked all local scrap dealers, half a dozen internet sites, the local papers, even the Audi dealership that was once the MG / Rover dealership, and nowhere has the seal or the sunroof that I need to avoid drowning myself when winter gets here.
Me and my father have differing views on what to do. I want to simply tear out all the old seal and replace everything with a sealant of somekind until new parts can be obtained and installed. My father wants to leave the seal in and do nothing on the grounds that finding a new seal should in theory be easier and that the effort taken in removing the sealant without breaking the glass sunroof wouldnt be worth it.
Anyone here got any suggestions? If needed I can post a few pictures of the sunroof itself
