I Killed Laura Palmer

PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:28 pm

I dunno why, but I'm always curious as to which bands people may have used to like, have grown out of, or just stopped listening to.

For me, the big one is Thirty Seconds to Mars. I was OBSESSED. My walls were covered in their pictures and posters, I talked about them non-stop, all I wore was their merch. I loved them so much that it was disgusting. I wanted to kill myself when their old bassist, Matt, left the band. I would get into arguments with people who didn't like them. They consumed my entire existence for three years.
And then, somewhere along the way, I realized that they just weren't that great. Maybe it was the lack of attention they paid towards their US fans, or maybe I just realized that Jared Leto is one big fake douche bag. I have no clue what started it, but I just couldn't stand them. Like, them themselves. I guess their music is okay, but I've heard it so much now that it just annoys me.

Chiodos

I was completely in love with them, all I would listen to is Bone Palace Ballet, and I truly believed Craig Owens was the best singer in the universe. But then I grew away from the genre, and got tired of the half-scream half-sing style. And I realized Craig Owens is a pretentious douche. Seriously. *sigh* He didn't even really write the songs on Bone Pallace, and he went around writing books and acting like this great poet and starting all these other projects and abusing his band and ugh. He just bothers me now. He seems so fake.

But don't get me wrong, Bone Pallace Ballet is totally a masterpiece, its just not my thing anymore. And personally, I don't enjoy any of Craigs other projects, but I'm not saying you suck if you like them. I just got tired of him. And disillusioned.

Eight-ish years ago I was obsessed with the first Linkink Park album. Now that's just horribly embarrassing, haha.

Ah, and The Academy Is. I was always conscious they weren't that great, but four years ago I was obsessed with them. I chatted with William Beckett on the phone and I didn't stop talking about it for months. It was ridiculous, haha. I still care about whatever happens to the band, and I'd go see their shows, but I didn't like their last album at all (aside from the "can't get this catchy melody out of my head" value.)

Ugh, I could not believe myself but an faded out Mexican pop group call RBD. It was such a huge thing in my 6-7 grade year. It embarasses me so to know that I submitted to their stupid fandom.

They had a TV show call Rebelde, I would watch every episode, and I got every DVD box. I had all five CDs, including their one english album (which there English was completely terrible) I knew every song. I had there outfit. I had tons of poster. Ugh, it really disgust me. An the show.... UGH!!! So many effen sluts! Yea, I got rid of everything because the all the singers are whore, including the males. The only one I still really like is Christain Chaves but cuz he was teh gay one in the group (the the band forced him to act straight so he quit.)
I'm so proud of him. (: but yeah I sold everything except teh outfit.

Silverstein/Hawthorne Heights

These two bands were great to me a year or two ago, but now I'm just not that into them. I listened to the music alot more closeley and realized its not that great. plain and simple.

My current obsessions are Blink-182 and Gorillaz

I got a bit put off on Silverstein after I saw them live, the performance was amazing and everything but at that point id already kind of moved off screamo anyway....and the lead just talked about how much drugs we had in seattle...pissed me off a bit

I've never seen them live(ive never gone to anyone live, actually, the one time i was going to I suddenly ran out of money >.<) , but I could definitely see how the drug thing would be annoying..

Yeah, ive kinda moved away from screamo type stuff too..

fall out boy. they used to be amazing my fav band, then infinity on high came out and it ruined them for me, theres like 4 songs on the entire album that i like and thats it. their old music was the best. same with linkin park, theyre not even the same band that they were. i loved their old music but now its like crap. its too pop rock. all my fav bands are changing too much where its just hard to listen to. i'm so glad mcr and a7x arent like that
