Edit: I'd say ask them but if you're not looking for anything, that wouldn't work too well since you'd pretty much be shooting them down if they are into you. Now if you don't mind being casual (i don't mean sex, unless of course you want sex?) and affectionate, and DO LIKE THEM, then i'd say ask them in a manner where they get the vibe that they'd have a shot. Then they'd be more likely to let down their guard and be like "well i think your really cute. i kinda like you blah blah blah insert gay cutesy 'i like you' phrase here" You get the idea.

You could of course always go with /b/'s approach. Turn to them and say "god i wanna ******** you so bad right now"
